"Who ya gonna call? BOT Busters!" is the new mantra of the RuneScape team as they tirelessly work to take out scammers, bots, exploiters and other nefarious folk from their game. In his latest article about RuneScape, MMORPG.com's Adam Tingle reports on what the team revealed about its bot-busting plans during RuneFest. Check it out!

"It was hard to remove certain elements in the game for prolonged periods as it did harm our product in terms of enjoyment, but the integrity RuneScape was at stake". That word integrity seems all important to Jagex. Regardless of the mountain of revenue that these illegal elements bring in from advertisements, the developer's resolve doesn't slide into eyeballs illuminated with dollar bill signs; gameplay and the community comes first, which is very amiable indeed." How these two statements reconcile we will never know. |

"Jagex are clear in their mission, they are engaged in war with those that seek to exploit their MMO and they will fight back with everything they have got and as dirty as they can get. Could this technology be granted to other developers with similar problems? Daniel remained coy with this suggestion but the idea of a system immune to these undesirables is an exciting one." Oh, you mean like Blizzard? Oops, too late. Interesting how tiny little Jagex is willing to take on the gold farming scum of the universe at whatever cost, while the Blizzard behemoth just assumes the position - eagerly. I'm not a fan of Runescape, but thumbs up for Jagex. At least they've still got some fight in them. |

The Real Money Auction House is an anti-RMT measure? Whatever you say Blizzard. |

Sure, keep focusing all your resources on the "Bot" community and keep taking away gameplay elements that were the best part of your game for 2 years and finally decide to bring it back. That is definitely NOT why I quit 2 years ago. GG Jagex, GG. |

I guess they could always make everything bind on pick up and the only gold transactions would be with NPC's. Of course that would kill any game economy, but hey no more bots and gold farmers. A fight where I might win or loose? That's PvP. Ganked or being ganked is not PvP. |

So when does the bot busting start??? Runescape is far from bot free. I still have to compete with them in every runite spawn point including Keldagrim, Neiznot, and Hero's Guild spawn points. I've even reported the names numerous times. If you wanna catch a bot here's a clue, do a little leg work and park next to the sites where there are things of value to be had.
I am a fan of Runescape, don't get me wrong. I think it is a great and wonderful world but it strikes me odd that some are knocking Jagex for even concidering taking an action against botters. Here's a thought. Make a game that revolves around and caters to botters!!! then you can cheat all you want and it's not really cheating people whom would actually like to really enjoy a game. |

They have their work cut out for them, I get 5-10 faked emails a day ranging from your trying to sale your account, to verify your account, to you won free stuff click the link. So they have plenty of hackers trying to gt folks accounts. Compared to the 1 or 2 wow emails like this per month. Tells me the game is full of scammers. Funny thing is I never played runespace, not sure why I get those emails.
