Made it out of the first dungeon at a leisure pace. I'm more than impressed with how alive the world feels. Also amazing detail to just about everything. Especially animations and environmental effects are much better than what I was used to in Oblivion. Water, heat shimmering, lighting, all look awesome. Jumping for instance feels and looks great; in Oblivion you launched upwards at a fixed velocity and floated down in the exact same posture and also at a steady velocity; this looked and felt very awkward. This time around you really feel your weight as you are proppelled upwards in a realistic way and raise your arms higher when going down again. Feels very natural. UI takes some getting used to but by using your keyboard as much as possible it's ok. So far: a very impressive first hour.

Gave it a go for an hour (All the time I have right now). So far very impressed. The first thing I had to fix was the damn slow mouse response but a quick trip to the options/gameplay menu sorted that out. I had forgot I had to do the same thing in Oblivion as the game comes preset for a controller. Luckily there is a slider to make the mouse more responsive. The first hour was a blast... mostly exploring the first town and talking to the residents. I'll play some more later for sure!

Ok back but this will probably be the last time to the forums for a while. At least for today. I love how immersive the world is. The sounds are incredible. That includes music, using weapons, cutting through webs, etc. I've had 2 crashes but have learned to F5 save often and so far nothing else. I really don't understand why some people dont' like the graphics. But to each his own I suppose. There is a sort fo dreaminess to the whole thing. Night looks great. I don't like the UI though it's not as bad as Final Fantasy. Stil, it takes some time to get used to. magic looks great though I haven't yet figured out how to quickly go from two handed weapon to using a spell. There is a favorites button but I have yet to use it. I LOVE the art design. Weapons and armor look incredible. I love how you can make your body beefy or lean. Faces are "ok", some better than others and some customization choices are more "slight" than others. I feel very lost in the world which at this point is good. It seems very immense though time will tell. I love how you interact with the npc's. came across my first puzzle which was fun. Simple but fun to at least have a puzzle to do. The atmosphere is incredible. I agree with others that the fighting seems a little "fluffy" in that there doesn't seem to be a sense of connecting to your target though the animations and sounds are great. A few weird issues such as my first giant spider seemed to float down from above and not in any natural way. you can catch fish but I didn't see an animation for it so that was minor but dissapointing. At the moment the UI is the only real dissapointment but it's workable. Voice acting is good, some decent characterization. |

Originally posted by forest-nl Ooh, giants! Where? I just finished the first major quest/dungeon, got my first word of power, whatever they do, lol and am now getting ready to head to the Magic University. I think I'll walk there and see what I find on the way. ;D Something MMORPG devs should consider, this game "gets it" when it comes to creating a "world". It would behoove the industry to take notes and add more of this to their games. Personally, I have come to realize it is this factor that is missing from current MMOs. |

Who put the kickass! in RPG? Skyrim does ;)
Fantastic game, divorce your wife, leave your kids alone, close the door and go into issolation, the only thing you should be doing now after reading this is buying Skyrim and playing Skyrim. Do it now!
Soon as I get home for the weekend from work here, that is what I am doing, well ok, not the divorce part, but screw everything else. Case of MD , smokes, chips, tv on the side and skyrim, ya, does my body good ! not, but you only live once, rock on! Want to design your own coasters, flat rides and more? Always wanted that dream Theme Park? Look no further! |

Slightly disappointed with main quest line, so far. Don't want to spoil anything here, so I'll avoid any actual information, but... Barely made it out of the training dungeon, and already I feel as if I'm pulled by my ears. Doesn't feel right. It's like...
I mean, I haven't actually spent any of my skillpoints yet, just wanted to start doing some alchemy, made my first dagger... And suddenly I'm a hero! "You have a mission of utmost importance! Go there and hide behind the tower while NPCs kick it out between themselves! Blam. blam... Ohhh! We wouldn't be able to do it without you! (without all 3 ****ing arrows you've loosed in the general direction of the fight.) Here, get the best armor and the axe we can think of, and a noble title, and whole freakin city is singing 'ain't you a jolly good fellow!' when anyone sees you, and the voice from the Sky demanded you to IMMEDIATELY run to the end of the world IMMEDIATELY, you don't leave the voice wait!"
Pardon me? I'm barely out of the tutorial dungeon, you know. I wanted kind of make steel armor and weapons for myself before being given all that s***. Rats give me hard time yet, I don't feel like I'm a hero, I certainly don't think I've done anything yet to be proclaimed a hero, well, except heroically hiding from AOE damage in that battle, where NPCs were covering the ground with their bodies and then came to me, forgetting fallen comrades, and started shouting how hardcore I am, hiding here in the hole!
I don't want to go to the end of the world, since, considering local monster autoscaling would likely mean that on that end those same rats will meet me! I was thinking about going to magic colledge, you know, learning some BASIC stuff about spells! WTF?!!!
Severely thrown out of game world by that main quest. If I knew, I wouldn't even start it until I've learned some freaking magic. And you are basicly pulled by your hair in it - there is no moment where you can choose to continue it, it's all "run run run! Hurry! Hurry up, hurry up, now run here!"
Don't like it. |

Originally posted by forest-nl ok I'm back because pizza is on it's way... So I've learned something today: I can't kill giants. Yet. I found the giants quite by accident, making my way through the pass I found some imperial soldiers escorting a prisoner. Being against "the man" I decided to free him but he go slaughtered anyway and I took down the guards. Then I saw a puzzle "thing" so took some time solving that (just realized how after a bit) and then saw the smoke in the distance. After seeing the tree with the glowy bits I turned around and lo and behold there was a mammoth and it's hander, the giant. Now, my roommate said "go up to him" but I, knowing what happens when you just go up to things, saved the game. Then I went up to the giant to talk and "wham" game over. I then decided to go into the cave by him and there was another giant. Well, not all the giants could be the same strength and besides, maybe if I rushed him with my two handed sword ferocity he would crumple like a card house. Wham, game over. So no giants for a while. I kind of like crafting in the game which is a surprise. |

Originally posted by Grahor I didn't like the main story line of Oblivion either. Though I would've expected that they improved on that. I shall see, I'm no hero, yet, being merely level 5. Did quite some exploring already, though. It's quite fun. As long as the side story lines are as entertaining as in Oblivion (e.g. Dark Brotherhood) I'm fine with the main story sucking. |

lol i know what part your talking about and you are not a hero, (well maybe in your own mind that's the way they see you) but if you actually listen to the conversations, bah. .. not even going to waste the time, when you assume you make... yea, we are done here. Originally posted by Grahor I guess you didn't have to start the main quest immediately. I dont' believe I've started it at all yet. I'm just exploring and finding things. I know I'm to got to the first town on the main quest but I've been exploring and seeign things on my way there. I would agree that in Morrowind the main quest took breathers while you levelled up but if you start again and just ignore the main quest you should be golden. |

Sounds like I'll like it overall from what I've read. The complaints seem to be mostly "preference" gripes ("I don't like blue, I wanted red" type of stuff). Since that varies from person to person, I'll be getting it but I'll wait until the price drops at least $20. I have plenty of other things like Arkham City to finish yet, so I'll play this next year. Sounds like a winner to me! |

It's not that the main story suck. It's just that it feels forced upon you. Well, I feel it forced upon me, at least. Like a big brute of a man forced on not unwilling, but certainly unready and unprepared girl. I was kind of expecting flowers and a bit of romance, not hardcore threesome, so to say... :)
Others may actually prefer such pacing. I would, however, liked to develop a character a bit before starting galloping. :)
P.S. I've read "you shouldn't have started"... Well, I didn't know I'm starting it at the earnest! It was masterfully hidden in the quest log between "kill the rat" and "bring me a silver spoon". Which, accidentally, I already had with me, having liberated it from some cave earlier.
If I had some warning, I wouldn't touch that quest yet! |

Originally posted by Sovrath Yeah, man. Let it wait or just screw the main quest. I always abandoned it in Oblivion too. Being the "chosen one" really doesn't appeal to me either, Grahor.

Originally posted by DarkPony Of course I woul let it wait NOW. But there was no warning that it's going to pull me by my hair with such force. As I've wrote earlier, it was masterfully hidden between very first "fedex" and "bring me a silver spoon" quests. :) |

Originally posted by Grahor This I agree with , thou I didn't feel so heroic at this point as you say it did for you, guess that comes down to preceptions. For me, it is peaent praising a knight type thing. Not peasent praising a god feel ;) A knight is a big deal to peasents and a lord would be more, but god! that's the shiznits hehe Want to design your own coasters, flat rides and more?
