Originally posted by Corehaven Firstly, GW2 isn't going to change the industry in any different way then how its already changing. Nobody is going to create GW2 clones, and nobody is going to create SWTOR clones. Everyone will be creating games with features that were implemented in GW2 and SWTOR. These similarities will shape how games are created from here on out... cloning of one game or another --- not so much.
Simply put the above arguments on GW2 and SWTOR, and the laughing, its all retaliatory. GW2 has good and bad in it as well, and no game is perfect. I have played SWTOR, I have preordered it, and I have things I don't like about it too. Nothing will be 100% perfect for everyone, but those who can only enjoy 1 game... or can't let these games coincide without one being a winner and the other a loser... those people are idiots, and these games will launch - they will still be here complaining about the next round of games, regardless how good GW2 or SWTOR does, or how badly they "fail". |

Originally posted by Corehaven I don't think he's laughing at GW2, he was laughing at the statement he was quoting. Second what is up with the idea that because one game is different, all games will be different? I think it's somewhat silly to think both styles can't co-exist.

I gotta stop coming to these forums. The GW2 fanboys are pissing me off and the SWTOR fanboys are pissing me off. Why arguing about games that most people haven't even played and that's two different genres? I'm starting to believe that the flaming is because the hype has been going on too long, when you've been waiting years for a game you really don't want it to fail, you want it to be good to the point where you start trying to convince yourself it's better then everything els out there. The one thing I don't wanna happen is that the GW2 guys will buy SWTOR and start bashing it ingame and SWTOR guys buying GW2 and bash that ingame, GREAT for the companies who's gonna make money with more people buying the game but it's gonna suck for us players who wants to enjoy both games... I just really hope both games will have some very nice Ignore functionality if this will go on |

I am a huge SW fan. I pre-ordered the game. I can't wait to play it. I have no doubt I will enjoy it. I also, put money down at games stop already to pre-order GW2 when it goes on pre-order. I have never play GW1 well a trial recently and actually didn't care for it to much. However, I have done my research on both watched videos, read forums etc. I feel both will offer great things and that since one is P2P and one is B2P I can enjoy both for a while to come. I don't understand the fanboi bashing either, I hope it doesn't show up in either game. I also quesiton why I read the forums often. I guess its bc every now and again you get some good convo if you can filter the crap, sometimes you get some hilarious responses and sometimes you get some good articles form the writers. |

I played SWG for many mounth, had a great time... the beginning was very hard. Started as a poor Droid crafter and ended as a rich weapon mogul with an own city. But in the end it was also boring... did the same things everyday, glad that I was not stupid enouth to work to unlock the Jedi. The fact is that everything gets boring with time, so I enjoy everything new. |

If you are referring to WoW as the 800lbs gorilla I do believe that gorilla has lost some weight and is looking more and more famish. I think TOR will take over the number one spot. Just as I mention before in prior post. |

Originally posted by Mari2k Comparing SWG to SWTOR is liking comparing Daggerfall to Baldurs Gate 2. One is more sandbox like, the other is more story, drama, dialogue choice, character (aka cinematic) focused.
And for the people complaining about more control in their story. You can either have a completely tailored, personal and non-movie like story or you can have a slightly tailored, somewhat personal cinematic like story. It's either one or the other. You can either have your sandbox or you can have your cinematics. One or the other, not both.
I love both techniques but whichever it is it should be done well.
SWTOR though, for a game that has put the RPG back in mmoRPG, it has a lot of grumpy bitter haters. How can you spend time on a website called MMORPG and not like an MMO that has moved the MMO genre forward in terms of the RPG? I get that some people love the combat, combat, combat in their pvp MMOs. And some love the sim, sim, sim aspect of their sandbox type MMOs. But what about the RPG part? |

Originally posted by precious328 Funny, most adults don't have time for the game you describe as an "adult" game. Maybe you should have said "unemployed/highschool/college student" game. I'm coming up on 30. When I was in college and highschool, I wanted SWG. Now? I don't have time for that shit, and neither does any other adult w/ any sort of responsibilites. |

Originally posted by BlackUhuru Sorry I'll have to disagree. I feel very strong about my opinion that TOR will take over the number one spot and not just for a few month but for a long time to come why? 1. There has been a huge fan base for Star Wars alone since '78 2. there has been a huge fan base for KotOR since '03 3. Gamers are freaking sick of blue skin elf and orcs. 4. A Sci Fi MMO is relatively new a few has tried and died but not do to lack of fan base (Tubla Rasa) 5. Other Sci Fi MMO's (EVE) have pretty much leveled out. 6. Only other major contender to a Sci Fi MMO is WildStar but that is still in the works. 7. Bioware 8. WoW has been losing player base for some time now and if the keep cramming x-patch down players throats they will lose even more. I promise I probably will never go back to WoW. Been there done that and I am sure im not the only one who feels this way. Anywho those are just a few facts that I can think of why TOR will be number one and I dare say in 2012. |

I'm not convinced that SWTOR will take over the #1 spot from WoW. At least not right away. WoW just has too much history going for it. But I do know SWTOR is going to be HUGE, and may eventually take over that spot if BioWare can churn out enough content and if Blizzard continues to be lazy on their end. |

i agree i get the writers work is make articles but is like it is getting old to talk about what would happen or we hope to happen...players discuss these things on daily basis on forums no need for a article for that imho |

Christ, if TOR 1)gets a good healthy playerbase 2) becomes a game that appeals to a lot of players that go on to enjoy it and keep playing it 3) Makes its development money back via sales and subs etc 4) Gets good content updates at acceptable levels 5) Comes out 'polished' and in a healthy state ready to play and maintains that... and so on....... then how does it f****** matter what WOW , GW2 or any other game is doing? They're different games that will be played by different people with different tastes, likes, dislikes etc. Do you people really think anyone gives a toss whether GW2 is this, TOR is that, WOW has this many subs etc when they're not playing those games or going to play them? Seriously, some of you need to get over yourselves already before you really do permanent damage to the human gene pool.

You just have to laugh. SWTOR is releasing. Developed by a 100% professional outfit based around a great IP. Nothing else really matters. It is all about the now... The article above is of poor quality an also a poor approach misleading and applicable to probably delided MMOers' which I guess the writer has to cater for on this site. ________________________________________________________ |
