20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd booked off of work ;) Im in the UK so hopefully the early access will let me in on the 20th - anyone know how much early access we are actually going to get? Im going to visit my family for Christmas on 24 - 27 so wanna get as much playtime in as I can :)

Hahaha, WAR40K, the game where they announced two factions despite the fact that the races within those factions have generally been hostile or hated one another according to lore.

Sounds about as retarded as Alliance Deathknights, Bloodelf Paladins, Worgen in the Alliance... aka WoW.

The way it sounds they have the servers set up to be one client and one server list, just the servers on that list in and marked as different locations. Meaning there's a good possibility those of us in the UK and the rest of the world outside of the US will have early access at the same time as the yanks as long as a pre-order code is applied. Likely around the 17th or 18th Dec.

As to how long, no one knows yet but it's probably safe to assume it will be no more than 2-3 days as is usually the case in past MMO releases. They have mentioned there will be a grace period for adding a retail code, that means we won't get cut off even though our official release is a couple of days after the US. Grace periods are usually anywhere from a few days to a week after the official launch days.

I am just guessing but I don't think what i've wrote is too far a stretch.

It's  a perfectly good time to release the game. I'd be surprised if it wasn't a target window.

As far as all that "other stuff" you've written, kids beg their parents for presents all the time. They've been doing so ever since it was an option. And you know what? It's up to the parents to make the decision to buy or not. It's ok for kids not to get everything they want for christmas.

As far as spending time with family, of course the kids are going to spend time with family. They can play the game at release and then spend some time with family when the festivities happen. But they also have time because they are out of school. As for the adults, some do take time off between christmas and new years. I know I do.

So sure, don't miss your family get together and when that is done hop online for a bit. Unless of course you are compelled to spend 9 hours or more per day playing. Then that is another issue.

As far as support, you really doubt there is going to be 'no' support? There is absolutely no evidence of that whatsoever. As a matter of fact, there are companies that have mission crtical infrastructure and they get support no matter when their issues happen.

My girlfriend just asked me what I was writing and after I told her she said "of course they are going to be releasing for christmas, they are a company, they have to make money."

Now i'm 100% persuaded that the game is not ready...it can't be..can it? I mean launching near Christmas Eve? This reminds me of a Dog catcher waving a bone on one hand while holding a leash on the other...

Bear in mind that the game currently has zero competition for the the christmas lists. It's launching on the 20th in the US and 22/23rd for Europe and both dates give plenty of time for parents to rush out and buy it, it's not as though there is any other new MMO their kids are going to want them to get then. Launching so close to Xmas really isn't any indicator of it being rushed, if it were being rushed EA would have forced it out the door during spring just passed.

I knew what you meant...But anyway, why is it hard to believe? Its bioware. Its not like they dont have experience in building games. The game also has been in developement for more then 3 years. Also Chrsitmas of a year was probably going to be a target anyway because that is usually when more big name titles will sell more in a month then say in the summer month.

Sigh.... I pre-ordered SWTOR, but may just wait and see after the first month what people say and reviews say. I have a feeling it is going to be SpaceWoW. Not as much in game mechanics, etc, but community-wise. Probably be a million players with variational spellings of known Star Wars character names (BOOba Fhett, Hawn Solo, etc) running around, people whining about bugs, players rushing to cap in first weeks and bragging about their (1st) accomplishments, lots of smart asses for when people ask questions, and probably a lot of elementary humor spam....

Just don't want to spend $50-$60 for this and encounter all of that. It kills it for me fast. Probably just wait it out, plus yeah...that release date isn't keeping me from enjoying the holiday with my family.

This is great news.

Anyone else suspect they were feeling the pressure? Thank you to MMORPG.com for the fatigue story, and to the others who voiced their unhappiness at the way things were being handled.

Launching a couple of days before Christmas is PURE GENIOUS.

They know that a lot of people, especially children, have previous commitments for the holidays.

Launching at this time will reduce server stress as some of the people that would play continously will have to stop and go to Grandma's house or out of state or whatever. College kids too.

Every person who has to be "out of town" for that week and can't log in acts as a natural server stress reducer.

I like this move it really makes a lot of sense to me even if I reall don't want to wait that long :)

P.S.  Don't feel bad for the employees that have to work, unless you feel bad for the McDonalds employees and everyone else who has to work.
