A common sentiment on these forums is that of boredom with the current list of MMOs out there on the market, which has led many players to take a haitus from some of their favorite massively mulitplayer virtual habitats. Despite the current lull, there appears to be a few bright stars on the MMO horizon for which many players are eagerly awating. Now I've always looked at downtime in MMO life as an opportunity to reindulge myself in some quality single player games, be them old classics or new hits.
So in an effort to ease the suffering of the many distraught MMO gamers who, face down into their pillows at night, cry out out, "Woe is me! Where hath all the good games gone? How shall one entertain oneself in this age of virtual sorrow?" I ask the following question to my fellow gamers: Whether you are waiting for SW:ToR, GW2, Archeage, some other agme or nothing in particular, what games are you playing in the meantime to fulfill your gaming needs?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Myself, I'm currently playing The Witcher 2 to fulfill my medieval fantasy and RPG needs (the combat feels a little messy at times, but the RPG elements are phenomenal), and playing Bastion on the side if I'm in the mood for more of an action RPG, fast paced combat experience.
I play League of Legends to still socialize with my gaming friends.
Prior to Bastion, I dappled in Dragon Nest, a seudo MMO that almost entirely involves running quick, twitch-style combat action packed instances. While the combat was extremely satisfying, the progression is what drove me in that game, but that wore off because they hadn't increased the level cap beyond 24 yet for the American version when I last played. Any grinding at level 24 feels futile when you know they'll eventually increase the cap soon enough. Anyway, that game provided a solid 3-4 weeks of fun. Fine enough for a f2p game.
When I finish The Witcher 2, I look forward to trying Dead Island and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I've never done the zombie thing, so I figured I'd try it out. And I've heard many great things about the new Deus Ex game.
Hopefully I can squeeze those into my busy schedule before Skyrim comes out. I've never been a huge Elder Scrolls fan. I had a terribly hard time getting into Oblivion, but Skyrim just looks to amazing not to try. And the combat, the biggest obstacle that prevented me from truly enjoying Oblivion, looks to be MUCH improved.
With luck, perhaps GW2 will be out by time I'm done with the advertised 300 hours of gameplay in Skyrim. |

I wouldn't exactly say waiting for the next BIG MMO....I'd say I am waiting for an immersive and enduring (Long lasting) MMO rather. One with a great storyline and lore, better questing system (More than 8 billion Kill/Collect types), meaningful crafting system (Would require deteriorating gear and weapons), death penalty (Not too crazy, but make things interesting), open world exploration, and a good mix or solo and group play (Not forced one way or another). I have a feeling I am going to be waiting for a long time. So...in the meantime...
- Stronghold Kingdoms - EMPIRE: Total War - Cities XL That's about it for me. |

Fallout: New Vegas
I have about 200 hours played in it and I still haven't finished the main quest or done any of the DLCs yet ;)
I think it's the best game ever made maybe. The voice acting is definitely the best ever. It does crash... ALOT, but it's so badass I can look past that. |

Currently playing Deus Ex HR, Dead Island, Tropico 4, CoJ The Cartel. But switching all the time between them and very little time to play actually. But not really waiting for my next big MMO as I don't see anything coming yet, though I bet I will be playing/buying a few of the new upcoming MMO's, but they don't fancy me in the way I want a MMORPG to atract me, but they still can turn out to be fun never the less. |

Toying with Civ V (since I got it cheap off of steam), but looking forward to Gears of War 3 (midnight release tonight). That will last me about... a month or so with the online multiplayer. Just around the corner we also have Rage coming out (not to be confused with primal rage) and I've been messing around with the mods for Fallout: New Vegas.
I also resubbed to CoX to see what all was going on.... even with all the changes, the game is still how I remember it... and the servers still get packed which is pretty amazing to me.

Not much time to game lately. On the side I've been working on GW1, Shaiya, and running PUGs with testers in WAC alpha. |
