I can confirm that it is true i've played it and it was also more fun then i expected it to be. you feel like it is kinda a war(not alot). the destruction of the ships in the background is also a nice view. i can't even tell you how much teamplay is necessary in this game.

What exactly is "real" PvP?  Many "hardcore" pvpers complain that battlegrounds and open RvR is not "real" PvP.  This always makes me wonder what their "real" "hardcore" pvp actually is.  Is it randomly ganking people (if that's all you do in an mmo it's borderline sociopathic)?  Is it is grouping up and attacking another factions town?  Is it mindlessly zerging each other in random locations around the world?  It just seems like anything with an actual objective is labeled "carebear" by the "hardcore."  I don't really get it.  I've mindlessly and goallessly zerged in other games and I found it losses it's appeal pretty fast. 

It's been a while since I've been excited about pvp in any mmo.

Are they going to give XP/PvP tokens to the losing team? I don't like that, as that brings AFKers that just want to farm XP/PvP tokens. Losing team should be eaten by a giant worm and get a temporary PvP penalty.

Nice, I like the alternate routes to the turrents. This will really set a good group apart from a disorganized mob. Looking forward to SWToR quite a bit. 

I forgot about Mythic having their hand in the PvP development of the game. Having made DAoC, it gives me a glimmer of hope for this game...which is good....because my wife is sure as hell going to force me to play it with her. After all, I have a rule to always encourage her MMO habit...no matter the medium. Wouldn't you? :)

The Alderaan Warzone sounds like it will be a lot of fun for the organized. This definitely speaks volumes for the merits of tactics and skill as opposed to gear, levels, and numbers.

I've little doubt that those interested in ganking each other off (all 8 of you) will get their own servers to do it on so the prospect of massive uncontrolled Open World PvP is moot.

I've little doubt you Internet Ironmen will have ample space to chase each other around in...

to be honest pvp combt looks more compelling than the combat attached to quests which still look like wowish grind.  I have a mediocre interest in the game now, especially since sto is going f2p, dawntide launched in october hopefully....there just so many compelling alternatives out there that i wonder if my preorder was hasty based on swg nostalgia?  I don't wanna eb disappointed, i have stayed away from AAA mmos for the most part, the few i followed like planetside were killed by bad decisions and a attrition of player population. Ea can churn content better thna anyone, but if the mechanics never change and the general game play has little to no effect on the world eh i dunnio

THERE IS OPEN WORLD PVP IN THIS GAME.

Its nice that 'teamwork' is built into the logic of the PVP instances. That said, I am concerned how the instance winning will be once folks start rolling up. Does too many Jedi versus a balanced Empire team mean loss? Can overwhelming firepower win the day versus a 'logically laid out team (PUG versus planned for instance).

Time will tell. Looking forward to getting into the fight fo' sho'!

So your wife is the gamer heh? thats funny because usually it's my husband bugging me to go heal for him in Rift! we are a minority in online games it seems. Not all of us out there like to sit in the kitchen, and play housemaid. Maybe I will see you 2 in the game, however thats going to depend on what faction you choose.

TOR PVP won't be keeping me from BF3 and Planetside 2 that's for sure. I bet the result of these warzones is, fun first few times, then loose it looses its shine, since the PVP mechanics itself is not exciting.  Jut tab target 1234, tab target 1234, run and jump and do flips a bit, tab target 1235.

Not even close.  The game brings features that WoW won't even touch.

Does anyone know if this actually influence the game world persitantly?

As an example: Will this be one of many objectives on Alderaan that eventually decide which faction (or guild) will hold reigns over Alderaan?

If not than this is just a standard capture and hold pvp map, fun but not really interesting in the long run.

My wife plays MMOs, but I would consider myself more of a gamer. She is really looking forward to SWTOR, while I am really not. But hey, if she wants to play any MMO, whether it be SWTOR or WoW or whatever, I'll play it with her regardless if it's not my MMO cup of tea. I'm more of a sandbox guy, but I consider myself lucky to have a wife that enjoys playing any kind of video game. :)

Not sure what side or class I'll be playing. I usually let her pick something, then I pick something that compliments her abillities.

i see many ppl here said about capture the flag and other modes of pvp battleground thats swtor copy them from wow...obviously u never played older games...if u have played nevewinter nights form bioware and u had the original game so u could play online u would see that those already excist there.so cut the crap all the time about wow ...if u dont like it dont play it and dont try to comment every time someone post something about swtor or other new games..go play what u are playing and if u are so happy there isnt a reason to try to destroy other moods and happiness about something new..
