Some people have reasons not to play certian games, and if no healing class is one reason for your co-worker, fine. 

Well there are going to be some people who don't like what GW2 has to offer.

Not everybody likes the same thing. Sorry he won't play but he's better off playing something that is more to his preferences.

No dedicated healer  (as no tank) is one of the milions reason why i will play this game so if some1 doesn't like thoose improvements in new gen mmo they just aren't suited for this tipe of game.

I'm still a little confused on this actually.  People keep saying there are no dedicated healers, but with the way you can change your class specialization, does that mean some classes have healer skills?  They're not dedicated healers, but can still do some healing, when needed?  Or something like that?

Anet is not exactly developing a role-playing game, instead aiming for action e-sport gameplay with story elements. I think GW2 will be a great game, just not a great "role-playing game".

Yes you can do some healing but you cannot expect to do a tank and spank type of battle. You will take too much damage for how much healing output the professions have. Damage prevention (dodging, blocking, other skills) is the key here, not healing.

Also have to remember, there are no allied targeted skills.

I think i saw something similar as healing with a gurdian in a video but not 100% sure it could have been a buf or else.

I too got to confess that i play healing classes almost exclusively. Therefore i've got plenty maxed out healers in various mmorpgs. After DD'ing for several years, starting to heal got me a whole new experience playing mmos, soothed my heavy burnout and refreshed my interest for some more years.

GW2 not having a decicated healing class is a big letdown for me. I applaud them for a new approach without the holy trinity and i will buy the game anyway. But i will shurely miss my beloved green numbers flying allover the place!

You should tell your friend that a water-attuned elementalist will play more like a healer/buffer/controller to assist other teammates. And the Guardian can be specced to do similar things, providing shields and walls and such.

WEll if your co-worker is incapable of using self heals and being able to dodge powerful attack, and is unable to keep himself alive in general, he must be really incompotent in many games.

If you like healing you may roll Guardian and make healing/protection build. But you wont be able to heal your alies like in other games. They still need to dodge self heal and move in and out on combat to survive. You can support them, but you cant overheal and keep someone alive.

Noone will call you "noob healer go pve" anymore ;)

Quite a few classes in the game have things that heal or regen those around them, specced that way you could play as a dedicated healer. You will probably be liked, even loved, by larger groups, but you won't be NEEDED now like in other games.

Is THAT the real problem? As someone who has ALWAYS played a dedicated tank (even leveling in tank builds), I love this system. They aren't preventing you from healing, even providing ways for you to do it, but gone are the days of waiting for a group because one of the rare tanks or rarer healers isn't on or willing to go somewhere.

And yes, there were plenty of late nights where my tank and 3 DPS sat 30-40 minutes for a healer before calling it, I'm sure there are healers who could say the same about tanks.

Water elementalists have "heals" (as an example...of course so do other classes) but there are no player targeted heals. In other words....everyone has a self heal, and some classes have group heals but they are not heals where you target someone and heal them.  They are, as an example only, things like a healing bubble shield that other players must step INSIDE to heal themselves, but you cast it.  Does that make sense?  Healing is more proactive and less LAZY so as the "healers" cannot be blamed for everything along with the tanks.  Having been a dedicated healer MYSELF....I rather LIKE this idea of making people partially responsible for their OWN healing.

He's a reactive player with bad reaction time. His idea is you need direct heals to live and doesn't understand the concept if living through field control and support. He only sees healers as the only way you can succeed. Which is sad because I am a tank and healer in wow and its just not fun anymore because you get lazy people or the raids force people to be mean or unsocial. I was in a pug raid for BOT and they didn't give a shaman healer a piece of gear and kicked him out because of his 6k heals. Is that was the trinity brings us too? Harsh stadards even after you completed the goal? And I feel bad for those who get treated like that or worse.

Your friend sounds very childish or perhaps....like a child.  No offense, but maybe it's time for you to find some older people to play with, or at the very least ones that ACT older.
