FFA PvP with player looting? I'll pass. "I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold." Originally posted by Yuui. ... The use of numbers to accurately model combat? So a real Tiger tank has 800 hitpoints, and an Amercian Sherman need to shoot it 800 shots to kill it? Likewise when you hit a living man dressed in plate, you do a math and somehow that dictates the "damage", That is accurate? Its a game. Do not fall for such stupid ad. There is nothing realistic or accurate there. In a real fight, you want to avoid being hit, as you do not have a steady bar of hp to buffer your survival. Once hit, your "dps" might dramatically drop and your "AC" might ... |

Originally posted by GrumpyMel2 Well, probably but there are a few possibilities that people actually had some way of flying transportation before the Montgolfier brothers. This is of course just speculations and not by any mean historically proven, but it isn't beyond doubt not proven either, since it is rather hard to prove something didn't exist.
This is a mayan model, it looks familiar, doesn't it? Maybe it was a copy of a toy, maybe it is coincident or maybe the Mayans actually had gliders?
This one is egyptian from 200 BC. NASA tried it in a windtunnel, and if you guess that the small missing part is aerodynamical as the rest of the model it would actually fly well. Some archeologists think it may have been a glider they launched by a catapult (this is just a model of course). There are also speculations about the Nazca indians, Thor Heyerdahl thought they might had balloons and other have discussed gliders. There are nothing close to proofs but we did know that they actually did pretty advanced brain surgery 1500 years ago. There are a lot of weird stuff in history and some ancient people were a lot more advanced than the general person today seems to think. There is the bagdad battery from 2000 years ago..
And it wasn't James Watt that invented the steam engine, it was a greek guy almost 2000 years ago. He just did it to prove a principel and never thought to use it for something useful (slaves were simpler) but we tend to think people were dumber before us even though they actually were just as smart. So gliders might not be historical correct but it is really hard to prove that. ;) |

Originally posted by Kyleran Bounty hunting might work, if there is no arrow on the map showing where the target is. That way, BHs need to find the target. BH might work better if the target is somehow protected, and would not lose everything if killed. This would in turn, be exploited. |

I don't see any fluidity in the combat. The animations look stiff and vulgur. What I do see is emptiness in the game, will i have scale-able dynamic events? Doesn't make sense to me, as it seems to early to tell. From what I saw, I'll pass. I struggle not with life, money, emotions, and world, but against old mindsets and selves to be proven obsolete in a age and time of rapid changes. Go create fun, so you can have fun. |

Originally posted by LisXia Quite true, which is why I desire to be able to use a dodge/block feature in any MMO. Taking one step towards reality, in avoiding to be hit is something every one of these games should implement imo. |

Originally posted by LisXia For an armored knight being hit is usually not a problem. To actually get one down you often need to stun him and then stick a stilletto in one of the holes in his armor. A knight was the Tiget tank of "Ye olde world". Actually making a game realistic and fun is very hard, particularly if you want classes with armor as well as cloth classes while still wanting some balance.. An unarmored man can actually down a knight in full plate, Hans Tallhoffer shows several ways for that but it is not balanced and even an expert will have problems to down a unexperienced knight. So I think it is mostly BS, I doubt this game will be realistic unless all players play knights. |

While I always welcome something new, I think I can predict that this will not turn out well, FFA full loot alone makes it a tiny niche, realistic medieval setting makes the niche even smaller. Call me cynical but just look at MO, DF, Xsyon, heck even Eve the "big sandbox success" not really big compared to the mainstream. |

Originally posted by Neloth I think the mainstream are starting to get tired of killing 10 rats and getting a lollipop... As soon as a polished sandbox comes my prediction is it will be a huge succcess. Imagine if TOR was sandbox. |

I am not thrilled , while I am not against Full Loot , I am waiting for non-indie good sandbox mmorpg without full loot but with item decay (you can repair items few times but they eventually break up for good).
Not sure if ArcheAge will have something like that , maybe not. Surely it is not going to have full loot , but from upcoming games it still is looking most promising and if they deliver good quality game I will stick with it as my long term game (if it will be p2p).
As for MARK , - I will keep an eye on it , thou I am not thrilled tbh. Looks bit indie , don't get me wrong indie games are not bad , they are frequenly very good , but I really want AAA title that has freedom and variety of things to do. |

Here we go again. Another FFA, PVP/full loot sandbox which will come and go jsut like many other sandbox titles. I guess these days sandbox only means 'full loot pvp' |

watched trailer 1... go to 1:22 in to it.. turned it off.. found the flying knight to be far to outlandish to warrant my interest... while i know devinci was working on flying machines... i know for a fact a templar knight (what they showcased) would weight WAY TO MUCH for him to fly with 1 hand on a wood and paper kite... im sorry, maybe if it was an actual flying machine that looked like the pre WW1 flying machines MAYBE... but a 1 hander.... nope... far too heavy his armor would rip his arm off but seeing as you already have games like Feudal online i dont really see what this one offers that DFO or MO or FO wont? none look really historical (or even semi-quasie realistic) though FO looks more historical then this... im just wondering why it has to be full-loot pvp hardcore... why cant it just be pvp? or pvp-hardcore?? whats with all the "lets rape and pillage everyone" mentality of fantasy/medievil mmos now days |

Originally posted by Hackdasack Not if it is FFA PvP with full looting. I agree that games like World of darkness online might do fine because it is true that many people have become tired of the same old stuff but TOR would be a terrible sandbox, Bioware are good on what they do, but if you want a company to make a good sandbox you need a company that are good on making sandbox games, like Bethesda or Rockstar. |

Originally posted by Ichmen A standard Templar armor weights around 15 kilo, then add about 2 kilo for the sword and maybe 5 for the shield. A person wearing that could actually fly a modern hang glider. The one in the vid is however far too small to lift an adult person even with no armor and very thin so yes, it looks rather silly and I have no clue why they added stuff like this in the game. The templars were disbanded in 1312 while DaVinci was born in 1452 so a templar using any of his inventions makes as much sense as a Spitfire piloted by Jack the Ripper. But read my earlier post with the nice pictures of weird stuff that shouldn't exist anyways. ;) |

Originally posted by Loke666 thats exactly my point.. it reminds me of assassins creed with people flying around.. but then again that guy as far as im aware is in light armor at best.. i just cant see any knight being insane enough to jump off a perfectly good cliff with full armor on.. using just a paper and wood box. least of all why would you "para-drop" in to a battlefield like that O_o... i dont think he can really effectively block with a shield like that... archer fodder? |
