I think there were a few holes in what skills would be available in-game, and believe the SWTOR site was just recently updated last night. http://www.swtor.com/info/systems/crew-skills
So, understanding that you can have 3 skills (but only one 'crafting' skill max of the 3), the complete Crew Skills are:
Crafting Skills: Whether your team gathers resources or you acquire them through other means, they’ll be the cornerstone of crafting. Depending on how you choose to specialize, your crew will be able to construct armor, weapons, implants, or other
Mission Skills: Mission skills are a unique addition to the Crew Skills system. With these skills, you send companions from your crew across the galaxy on various missions to recover information, hunt down loot, or complete other goals to bring you rewards. When you use a mission skill, you’ll select a companion, choose a mission from an ever-changing pool, and send that companion out after the prize. You can choose from a variety of mission skills – is your crew into conducting research? Participating in diplomatic missions? Trading in illicit goods? There are many options, each with their own set of benefits and rewards. Some can even earn you light or dark side points. As with the other skills, your companions complete these missions on their own time and bring the rewards back when they’re done. Any number of your Crew Skills can be a Mission skill, so get ready to put your team to work![These skills also have the potential to obtain companion gifts to raise their Affection towars you I believe].
Boy, there is alot there, and I hope that the player-base's crafted merchandise is very competitive with PvE and PvP rewards. So, what's your strategy?

To be honest I have no idea what Ill be doing. I have always avoided crafting because to me it is so boring. Even when I don't craft, I always have so much money that by the time I am ready to move on to the next game, I have way too much money to do anything with it. This game however sort of wants you to go slow, try everything, don't rush to end game...so I may try it out, especially since companions do so much of the work. I wonder how many people are going to go after the treasure hunting lol. |

I'm excited about the setup of this system. I'm not into roleplaying, but somehow with a lot of games, it seemed difficult to perceive my character would want to take on as much as a game could offer in terms of crafting / gathering. The crew skills seem like a fun way to utilize the crafting system without feeling liek its taking time away from what your character may want to be doing. I'm leaning towards Archaeology / Artifice / Diplomacy. |
