Funny, the poll I started last October showed only 12.9% of voters said Yes.

Personally, I think that by definition it is, however primitive, an MMORPG. Stay with me here:

You have an avatar that you get to choose. Granted, you can't customize face, hair, eyes, cheeks, etc, but you do have a choice. Each class has a specific role to play. You have sorcs, zons, assassins, pallys (hammerdins anyone? ), you name it. All have a specific set of skills and different style of gameplay able to function well solo or within a group. You get quests, fight monsters, and level up. When you level, you assign attribute points to your basic attributes (Strength, stamina, etc) and assign a skill point. The more you level up a skill, the more effective it becomes. You come back to town  and sell your loot for cash. You need mana/health potions to survive. When you're done with the quests in a certain town, you move on to the next one. There were raids. Before you say no, tell me what were Baal runs? Meph runs? Yep, they were raids. A group of people would get together aiming to kill a certain boss to get certain loot. Certain runs which I can't remember specific names of had certain things you had to do to get the boss to spawn. 

I assume most people will vote against the fact that it is an MMORPG. Someone in the thread this discussion originally started in even mentioned that Blizzard themselves stated that it is not an MMORPG, but I highly disagree. Let me remind you that there are many different styles of MMORPG's (sandbox, FPS, theme park, etc). I don't know exactly what you would call Diablo 2, but while it might not fit the exact conventional use of the term MMORPG, it's pretty damn close.

Really, it comes down to serving your audience. The literal or technical definition of MMORPG doesn't matter much. You are in essence a game fan site. Because a large majority of us who read this site, and play MMORPGs, will also be playing Diablo 3, it makes perfect sense for you to include it in your coverage. I honestly think you would be serving the majority of your current readers by including it, and might even attract new readers who find your D3 coverage through search engines. This could serve to expand the audience for other, more classical MMORPGs. That would only benefit all of us, by increasing the market size and drawing more developers.

Yes add it.  I'm looking forward to calling it WOW'ish with too many WOW game mechanics and possibly a WOW clone.

Since this site has already added a ton of games which is less of an MMORPG than Diablo 3, why not.
