I was going to vote yes but the no arguments convinced me. |

I vote Yes. While Diablo 3 might not be a "true" MMO, the genres are near identical. Also, Diablo 3 is the "exception" in this case (when compared to Torchlight and Titan Quest) because of Blizzards WOW being the most successful MMORPG ever made, the fact that Diablo was responsible for a lot of players being turned onto the MMORPG genre, and the fact that the RMAH is going to be the test for "every" other MMO game in our near future. Diablo has earned its place on this site. Everyone here will be playing it anyways. It's time to evolve with the genre. |

Haven't read through the entire thread, but how would having D3 on the site be any different from having forums for GW1? |

What? Sorry i was being too sarcastic I guess. I was saying this "article" is more low quality content from this site.. I say that because if you look at the other games Mmorpg.com adds to its game list and sometimes reviews, it shouldnt be under discussion to add D3 or not. I dont want to name games because Im not trolling, but I mean there are hub based games, completely instanced games, BROWSER games, and yet they seem at a loss/need votes for the decision of adding D3 to the list. All I see is an article thats here for a lack of actual content is all.. If that still doesnt make sense, just nevermind, appearently this column was written for you :P |

Agree, add D3 to the list. |

In terms of what's already available here, sure. However, I always thought of MMOs as having cohesive, persistent, online game worlds. Anything using a hub and spoke/instance system doesn't qualify. For example, WoW or Rift where you can walk from one zone to another without a loading screen qualify as MMO. CoH and AoC are bordering on questionable becuase of the lading screens and how their zones are sometimes instanced. Diablo would definitely not be considered an MMO. On a side note, many other genres that have adopted MMO such as MMORTS have basically bastardized the term MMO in much the same way that T-Mobile and AT&T bastardized the term 4G, which basically has no meaning now. If you don't worry about it, it's not a problem. |

I don't think it would hurt anything to add it to the site's list of games, but maybe there needs to be some form of sub-category for games like it? Personally, I don't think the game justifies being called an MMO, because you're not playing in a world that is capable of sustaining thousands of players at a time. Perhaps there should just be a "Multiplayer RPG" section? Something not directly related to being massive? "This is life! We suffer and slave and expire. That's it!" -Bernard Black (Dylan Moran) |

I do not think it should be added, even if it is creating a buzz that some people running this site feel like they may miss and that they may not benefit from the ratings that this buzz may generate. Diablo 3, is a solo game with multiplayer capability, it is not an MMORPG. It does not have a Persistent world and it is not Massivelly played in the sense that its world is not shared by thousands of people. It has an Auction House..so what? Big fraking deal. Just because Blizzard thought to capitalise on an activity that has been there in an unnofocial way since more than 10 years now, that does not make it an MMORPG. One has to be connected Online to play it..so what? This is just a security measure, companies have managed to impose on us players, in order to raise profits and to reduce as much as possible piracy, that does not make it an MMORPG. If Diablo 3 is added, then many other Solo games should be added too and if that happens then this place changes to a generic Gaming Site that has no particular specialty as it does now, so while it may benefit from a brief Hype of Diablo 3, it may also lose in the long run. But this is how things go usually in life, someone becomes too greedy and ends up losing their business in the process, and someone else replaces them. The choice is really yours. |

I wouldn't be overly pissed if they add it but I say they shouldn't. |

I'm sure it has already been said, but as long as we are looking at the list of mmos we do have, can we delete ones that are six feet under? Or maybe a seperate list to discuss those inactive/dead mmorpgs. |

Diablo 3 has ONLY online content, so everyone who is comparing it to ANY console game or FPS or single player game that happens to have online content, think about that for a second. ONLY online play Where do you guys get the idea that Diablo isn't an RPG? You can call a duck a dog but that doesn't make it a dog... It is MOST CERTIANLY an RPG. an MMO? YES Is it being played online by a massive number of players? YES Is it a persistant world? NO Is a presistant world a prerequisite for being an MMO? NO
Its an MMORPG. |

Well this is your site and if you want to add the worst and most lame RPG that exists then go ahead. It will not lower my allready low opinion of MMORPG as a viable and unbiased site for MMORPG games. |

You people run a business. If listing will increase revenue, do it. Nobody should be turning down work in this economy.
I like the idea of improving the MMORPG.com chart. It's not very useful other than as a quick way to look up a game. |

No. Its not an MMORPG. People saying that GW is just like Diablo 2 have never played GW. Sadly, "He who stands on principle stands alone." |

Originally posted by Golelorn Principle? What principle is involved here? I think when people make the comparison they're referring to the use of a lobby, yes GW1's world is basically a lobby, you enter the actual gaming through it. There's nothing to actually do inside of the " multi-player world" aside from chat and trade. Most just stand around waiting for a game to pop, that's not much different than a lobby outside of the interface and portal to play. Originally posted by Coman I didn't have to read past this post to be done with this thread as this pretty much sums up my opinion on the matter as well. If you decide to add D3 to the games list than it will open up Pandora's Box so to speak. This means every time a new RPG hits the market that happens to have a multiplayer aspect to it someone's going to be on the forum complaining it's not on the list. People will reply, "It isn't a MMO now is it?" To which we will hear, "Well D3 is on the list so..." Putting D3 on the games list is a huge mistake in my opinion as it will remove some of this site's identity in the process. This will no longer be MMORPG.com... It will be MORPG.com from that point forward. You've already made 2 other websites to cover other genres in online gaming... Maybe it's time to consider a RPGguru website as well.
