The market already dropped 500 points. Is that it, or another drop, stays the same, goes up?
This isn't to hold your feet to the fire and say you were wrong, etc. Just a chance to make a guess. I have no idea what the market will do on Monday. I'm not a stock analyst.

Imhotepp, I expect to see losses after about noon. GM, GE, and Apple are connected to the S&P.I forget the forth company. They will be downgraded as well. Success is your proof; |

I expect to see more losses before noon than after. Sell in the morning, buy in the afternoon. |

Originally posted by Ihmotepp at this point the market will crash on monday and the failure of the dems and obama will show. why look at what they are doing right now? nothing but the tea party is still out giving ideas that could fix this in the short term. more so then that gerald celente spoke up on what is about to happen he called it the greatest depression. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPQxx15YtuQ it clearly shows that thanks to obama and the democrats that we are heading into this at full force and in the past i have heard celente say that the only folks who have ideas on how to fix this is the tea party. more so then that he has stated that in 2012 obama along with all of the dems and libs are going to be voted out in no time. still lets get back to monday. what we will see is the market just full on crash, the tech market is done for as it's clear no one is going to have money to spend on useless things like ipods and xboxs. the 'green' market is gone as well then again we all knew that was never going to be big. the only money that will go anywhere is money in gold and oil. i think as of monday you will see mass protests on the streets calling for the heads of the dems who got us here as well. |

The market crash is a little bigger than just the events in America. The is also a financial crisis int he worlds greatest economy. the Eurozone. So we have the worlds two largest economic zones in crisis at the same time.
Double whammy. Actually, by comparison to the Eurozone, I wouldn't consider the U.S. to be in crisis, but with the Eurozone added to it's own woes, then it is. Also they both have the same issue. Collapse in investor credability due to failure to properly address their debts.
I'll be surpirsed if I am still retired at the end of this. I think I'm going back to work. |

If S&P's really had balls, they'd have done this during the week. Instead they did it after markets closed for the weekend to limit the panic selling that would surely have taken place.
Expect anything that isn't based on the dollar to skyrocket as people jump for safety from what will be perceived as a sinking ship. US Treasury bonds will most likely go kaput. Precious metals will most likely go up as well, as everyone seems to feel they're one of the safest investments out there.
Gas will probably go up again as the dollar becomes worth less in international trading. Now with 57.3% more flames! |

Originally posted by pyrofreak It may initially start out that way Pyro. But basic market rules will supercede the crash. Treasury bonds will go to a real low. Which means that they will be bought with a quickness at such a low rate. In basic market fundamentals, for every dollar lost there is someone else making a profit off that dollar. Just the question i ask is who>?? Monday, General Motors, General Electric, Apple, are going to take direct hits as they will be downgraded to a AA status as well. Mc Donalds and Wal mart will not get the downgrade, but will be aptly effected as they recieve compensation from the U.S gov. Every business that deals with our govt will be effected by this downgrade. 501's will be hurt alot Success is your proof; |

Well, the drop was actually due to Italy saying they were all fucked up with their money. The downgrade ( I think) happened after the market closed or was already close to closing. Now we have the weekend for everyone to sort things out. I think it stays mostly level with maybe a slight dip. As long as no one freaks out, everything should be ok. In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect. |

good question, the stock markets dropped already due to the headache about a possible downgrading but probably some did know about it. stock markets in saui arabia did drop more than 5%, watch how tel aviv will react. i guess there will be drops aswell. on monday ? well this is difficult to say even for experts without insider sources. it could drop again a bit since the private investors will react on this day. its interresting how the gold price will look like, maybe some liquidate aswell.
btw the chinese rating agency Dagong did downgrade the us from A+ to A !!
good luck if you hold stocks currently |

The price of gold fell today too.# the trouble with gold right now is that you are buying at the top of the market when you shoul;d be selling at the top of the market. And the trouble with shares right now, is that where else can you put your money? And what is it going to cost you to get it out right now. You'll lose 40% capital gains tax if you sell them, so you can't just sell them on the off chance. You are locked in unless you can see a very significantly better deal. At what time in the last 4 years has anyone had the opportunity to sell their shares at a profit? It's a ride and I'm on it for along time to come now.
Pretty much everything is going to plummet in my opinion. Just hold on, ride out the storm and see what you have left at the end of it. LMAO, I'm looking for work, that's my solution. Whatever I lose, I will earn again. |

My prediction Gold = ~1690 may even play with 1700, but I don't think it'll break it. DOW? Down 1-200 points at least.

Tel Aviv closed down 6% today. I think this is a pretty good indicator of what is coming as the markets open on Monday. Most likely all markets will be down 3% - 7%. In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect. |
