I do feel your pain on this, but Guild Wars is no stranger to African faces, skin tones, culture or hairstyles. See: Nightfall. Elona (the African-themed continent from GW: Nightfall) won't be in the release version of GW2 (nor will Cantha, the Asian-themed continent), but they are part of the lore and it is completely expected that they will make an appearance in later expansions. In the meantime, look at what the ANet team did with hair and faces/skin tones in Nightfall: |

I dont like the fact that everyone on my server is an ally, so no world pvp appart from what takes place in some seperate map, I do not see why they just didnt have all three factions on the same server would have been better imo. Come join the new gaming and guild community in the UK. |

My only criticisms so far are mostly because I don't know anything about GW2 yet, really. What I do know is that water content doesn't sound like fun to me (sorry, I'm skeptical), and I'm pretty damn tired of sword and sorcery MMO's. Medieval high fantasy is way, way over done, but people still want more of it. "This is life! We suffer and slave and expire. That's it!" -Bernard Black (Dylan Moran) |

Originally posted by Dvalon Because they are not 3 different factions. they are 3 parallel dimension factions. Having 3 factions on one server would require 3 times as much PvE content. and a 3 times larger world... People, that have played DAoC when it was at its prime, all can tell you that this kind of PvP system will work best, no need for open world PvP with a system like this. First i have to say that the game look fantastic and i usually don't critizise for the fun at least i try. But they are 2 huge areas that are let down, and quiet hard. The worst and the one that got the most critisism around the net is the pve, the ai and the overall behavior of mobs. Its clear they just didn't do anything in that aspect, which is a pitty. I think this area of mmorpg is one of the worst, in Uo the monster behavior was far better than any post EQ mmo, why? its quiet simple the UO team wanted their mob to follow some behavior that made sense, their coding was just a lot worst but they had idea behind it, now they don't anymore. Post EQ, they just never gave a fuck anymore, and mobs turned to be nothing else that dummies, easy dummies that is. Fps bots are far better we all knows it than any mmo ai, for a game that is supposed to be about creating worlds that's quiet ridiculous. The second seam to be the crafting and maybe the economy behind. Even if they make some nice statement as "you won't craft worthless item and we will try to make every sword you carft worth it" (its not a quote, just what i recall of their statements), which is quiet good in theory for sure. So this is a half let down, more because of the lack of info. Also maybe they are some i'm not aware of it, i don't read everything about this game far from that. I beleive economy is very important in an mmo, and crafting is holding it. This are the only domain that would need some looking imo. Also i really want to see how scaling will work in the game, and how good it will be, so its more a fear than anything, seam to work well though from the demos, but i won't be sure before playing the game. |

Criticisms?
Hmm, what could be considered criticisms for some people: - it's another fantasy MMO, dragons, furry creatures, sword and sorcery and all that stuff - no mounts, only quick TP options - world divided in zones that use portals/loading screens between each zone - it uses typical MMO combat mechanics, not something more action oriented like aim based as seen in TERA and MMOFPS games - no raiding style endgame content as seen in current themepark MMO's - no real open world pvp - we have no idea how world vs world pvp will actually work out or how ANet has solved the 'mass fighting' lag issues yet.
That's all I could think of in a quick brainstorm. Overall GW2 is looking pretty good, but the above points could be considered negatives depending what your MMO gaming preferences are. The ACTUAL size of MMORPG worlds: a comparison list between MMO's |

Originally posted by MumboJumbo Technically potions are nothing different then regeneration spells and buffs .... Only in potion form they are available to all the classes. Think the Charr & the other little none human being a playable races a bad idea. One thing I always liked about GW was it was humans vs the freaks of nature. The other races they have in GW2 look cool and can see them fitting in kind of. But the Charr and the little gizmo knock offs I think are a waste of time. |

I think because Anet are trying things differently than other MMOs, it's hard to criticize, yet. Once people have had a real chance to play it, I'm sure there will be a lot more criticism going around. Real criticism, not the odd grasping at straws criticism this thread seems to be full of. When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world. |

Originally posted by MMO.Maverick I get the point. It's a bunch of potential criticisms that anybody could make. Think of any feature from any MMO, doesn't matter if you like it or not, someone else does. Criticisms of GW2 could be that it's doing away with the henchmen from GW1, that there aren't contested dungeons, that there isn't random item loss on death, that there's too many levels, too few levels, that there are levels at all, etc etc etc. I think more interesting would be the ones that you, MMO.Maverick, personally hold. |
