Does anyone know if there planning on removing the ridiculous amounts of items needed for 1 item. I got sick to death of neededing 5 other crafting jobs to craft a simple item with my crafting proffession. Anyone know if there planning on changing this in the future? It probably isn't going any where. Thats just the way FF does their crafting, it was the same way in 11.
Although i agree that it is a pain in the bum, and was one of the main reason i never crafted in FF11. the missing link in a chain of destruction. All spelling and typographical errors are based soely on the fact that i just dont care. If you must point out my lack of atention to detail, please do it with a smile. |

Originally posted by Shari They stated that they're planning to optimize ingredient and task requirements of recipes to be appropriate to rank (scroll down to the "Items, Synthesis, and Gathering" row). As to what they specifically meant: I do not know. They tend to be fairly scarce on specifics until it's close to releasing the changes, so won't know for sure until that day comes. By the way, instead of trying to craft every last bit yourself, why not try and find a Crafting Linkshell where you can trade or buy the necessary materials that you can't make yourself? At release, I made some decent money just selling all sorts of nails, bolts, plates and hooks. |

FFXI was the exact same way. It's easier (and nearly impossible unless you're like me and level everything to 50) just to buy some parts that are from other crafts. I'd stick with 2 that complement each other, buy the rest of the ingredients. Money isn't too hard to come by, just takes some time. Try selling a few crystals in a retainer, I make over 300k a day just from selling Food/Crystals/Various materials I don't use.
I've always been an avid crafter, and I like the fact you can level 1-50 without ever having to pick up a sword (or whatever weapon). In the early going it helps to do a little battling, but after you get your micro-economy going. You can buy materials (or for culinarians, fish for it), and still make a decent profit to upgrade to new tools when they come up. I'm at 48 Cooking, 44 fishing, 38 Alchemy with crafting, I like it.

Originally posted by Shari I have to admit the crafting part did me in. I tried it but then got frustrated because I needed other items and then had to look up what small bits went into making those bits and yadda yadda yadda it was way too tedious for me. Still I understand the resaon they do this as it makes the community a bit more reliant on each other. |

Very unlikely to change I'm afraid, in fact with the materia system and recipe changes coming up I would expect crafting to be much more complex actually. Especially if you want to make money/good items.
