I have the original EQ game I purchased way back when, I havent played in a good 8 years though. I was wondering if I needed any of the expansions to play or can I just load up my old version and grab a subscription? Also I was wondering if any changes have occured? I know that EQ2 has some item shop BS now, I don't like that. I prefer to just pay a subscription fee. --Gaymer Extraordinaire-- |

Play on the Fippy Darkpaw progression server. It's the original game without any expansions active...for now.
You'll fit right in. |

One popular opinion is that around 2002 was the last time EQ was any good so you really have not missed much worth missing. Over the years SOE has added more and more stuff to make EQ easier and more like WoW in many ways. On a bright note, they did just launch a new progression server where the players have to vote to release any new expansions. Seeing as the concensus is that once Velious launches they are going to boycott any further expansions you might enjoy yourself there. |

For what it is worth, if you grab the last expansion released, you'll get all the other ones too. |
