Well I've talked this game up as much as anyone and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time up to level 30 but something has happened now that I'm at endgame. There is plenty of content to run, but the difficulty is very high. I have a buddy that plays a healer and we did a succesful duo without wiping, but when we tried another it was damn near impossible. None of the level 30 content is soloable. People are always quitting the hard mode alerts and duos out of frustration when you reach the "impossible" stages. I've queued for raids and pvp for hours sometimes without getting in. I don't know. I went ahead and cancelled my recurring sub and will wait for a nerfing. No problem really, there are other good games to play in the very near future. Hope SoE addresses the remaining bugs esspecially that chat. I wanted to punch my lcd a few times it's so frustrating to chat. Most of all, I hope they tone down the difficulty at end game a bit. Overall I still find the game to be innovative and very fun up to max level and still recommend it if you are into the superhero thing. I know I opened myself up for a good flaming on this one but I don't mind. I like being able to speak my mind with you all! I dunno. I havent experienced either 8 man raid yet but ive done all the other content and its pretty simple if people actually pay attention and open their eyes. I dont mean to offend you and your friend tho. I just know in my experience i join these Duo's and play with people that dont seem to understand when bosses spawn adds you should kill them. ok, i give. wtf is so wrong with the chat? I find it clunky, and it would be nice to have it more refined. But its not difficult to chat!? /shout hey whats up? /l hey guys hows it going? /g where are we going? its that simple. Also, if I find myself talking to shout and to group and league or a combination there of, I sit in the social tab As far as content being difficult, don't forget. It's about a month old, so, I don't think alot of people who would really be interested in raiding are there yet. I would imagin they are having fun with alts and PvP yet, just a thought |
Originally posted by monstermmo Another problem I was having was that when either a group member or I would get killed by the adds, we'd come back in to find the boss back at full health and having to refight from the beginning of the boss battle. Became like a neverending cycle. I totally understand how the game should be played though, I just know for a fact that level 30 enemies are too tough and in the end that will affect people's perceived progression and in turn cause a loss of subs. It's cool though. I don't mind some difficulty in my games, but if I lose a sense of progression then I have to try something else. Thanks for your input though! The social aspect of the game is near impossible. The chat interface is pretty bad, i mean its cool that its there and useable but its bad. As an article mentioned its a really good thing they implemented voice chat with the release. Good idea, too bad its not used. Some people are mad about "mouth breathers" but youll get that on any voice chat system so it doesnt matter. If chatting in the game was easier it might make the game even better. Hell League (guild) chat doesnt even work. Jeremiah 8:21 I weep for the hurt of my people; I stand amazed, silent, dumb with grief. |

I am A SoE veteren if you wanna call me that the reason SoE is considered the best at end game content is because they know how to do it . While i know your frustration on people quiting and etc because it happens to me all the time but comeing from one of the harest games in the genre i stik with it because to me it isnt as difficult as the other SoE games. DCUO is suppose to be a more casual gamers game and the endgame will be hard it suppose to be its raids and hard mode i dont see them nerfing it at all because its to Hard they dont do things like Blizzard dose. If people flmae you im sorry as you did leave yourself open for it but dont get bothered by them . The only advice i can give you is try and find a really good duo team or find a good bunch of players and team up with them all the time i cleared all hard mode and raids on my first run but after that i see alot of what your complaining about where people just upright and leave because they cant deal with it i laugh at them and think where the hell have they come from what game and etc because they dont have the patience or knowleage to complete the hard endgame content. |

Originally posted by monstermmo Yes - and while there's a lot to like with this game, this is a huge let down. I find that sometimes when you hit enter, the chat interface doesn't respond. Also after receiving a tell you are supposed to be able to type /r to reply but this only works sometimes. I love how people come in and someone is talking about engame content being hard they continue to talk about chatting in the game. "You think this "A" stands for France?" Captain America |

If I were you I'd petition for an easy mode added to the already existing hard and normal. Easy mode would of course be easier and give less rewards and no marks, normal as it is now and Hard as it is now.
Reducing the overall difficulty for everyone would be suicide as far more people would quit. As long as it's not impossible people will continue to play and try to go through the content. Make it to easy and people run through it, get bored and quit.
Lack of challenge in PvE content is one of the most common complaints for MMO's.
So hopefully your in the minority on this as I would hate to see another game go the easy mode route as there are way to many on the market as is. I actually like the harder fights :P. |

Well who knows could be my gear too as I'm still filling out my level 30 stuff. I have a couple lvl 24 and lvl 18 things in some slots I think. Ran the OMAC duo last night with my healer buddy. We got all the way through to the end but just couldn't get the boss. After the first wipe we stopped since it was getting late. Try again tonight. We both agreed that if he wasn't a healer we wouldn't have made it out of the first room of the instance. Is anyone having any luck with duos without a healer? I can see the alerts or raids being healer dependent but the duos? Also my main is a controller and I've read on the forums that the controllers are in the biggest need for a patch and aren't working as intended. Well it's either too hard or I suck.... flip a coin. Originally posted by jpnole I think i had a healer once in a Duo i am a controller and i useually either get a DMG Dealer or a tank type mostly dmg dealer as well as other controllers and i never have a issue. OMAC is prob the hardest Duo but it all depends how you do things. |

The end game content generally requires a balanced group 1 tank 1 controller regening power and controlling mobs 1 healer 1 spec'd and geared dps'r. And also an organised group on comms. I WILL NOT PUG certain alerts you can forget raiding. A good league is your friend (that has comms) so you can ask qs and form groups. Endgame content in any mmo standard these days generally requires you to seek out like minded friends so you can tackle it easier as a unit. I have completed all hard alerts daily with my old league and the key was playing with people who knew what to do and could talk to each other. Raids on the other hand atm I find buggy and need some fixing. I noticed in your sig OP you have put down for 6 months of rift I dont know how many instances you have done in that game but I think after it becomes very challenging and requires a focused organised and decent group make up to complete. |

I have successfully completed every Duo multiple times with 2x dps players. It really depends on the players. Ive been in several Duo's where my partner was damn near useless and i was probably useless a couple of the first times i did them. Originally posted by monstermmo I don't get it, it seems that right off the bat the enemy's dps is just insane and my health meter goes down. Are you chugging soder colas? Without a healer I'm done for. Based on my experience I just don't understand it. Originally posted by Wicoa Yeah I'm excited about Rift. I did get to run the Fae dungeon and I loved it. No wipes! The mass market fantasy mmo will cater to the difficulty thing though. Originally posted by jpnole I usually only have to chug soda for boss fights and even then not usually since there are health barrels everywhere. With 2x dps you kill stuff fast so shouldnt take too much damage and you regen out of combat. Jeremiah 8:21 I weep for the hurt of my people; I stand amazed, silent, dumb with grief. |
