The forums are filled with people having issues with their launcher that fails to begin downloading the client and gets stuck on initializing, yet the devs have no fix weeks after being reported They offer download of trial via client rom various partners yet once downloaded the files fail to install. When attempting to solicit assistance from devs, all I get is a community agent (unpaid idiot) that offers very little to help. Devs rarely get involved to help the hundreds posting that cannot download. Really wanted to try this game but the dev team are very apathetic towards any problems... so if any issues arise just uninstall and give up cuz you will get zero helpful assistance. i know the fanboys love to flame but if you know how to help get the game to install then tell me... cuz i have tried everything. Once the game fails to install the first time there are nothing but problems thereafter, and also you can't even get the files to uninstall.... its like a virus. game looks fun just wish i could get some freaking help. |

ugh... I hear ya.....I was downloading the trial on Steam, but since I have a data usage cap per month, decided to buy the box version. Now I'm really confused after installing the game, and Steam not recognizing it, sent support tickets to both parties. ..no matter what I do, Steam wants to keep downloading the trail even though both Steam and HiRez say I have a full game already, and that they must not be understanding me.....see first statement. I got the box because I DIDN'T want to be charged overages for downloading the entire freakin game.....so maybe it is a great pvp game, but I'll never know....thanks Steam "It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. Global Agenda has its own special launcher service. I blocked it once because I hate having random services running on my machine but you need it if you want to be able to launch the game. It is called "Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service"
The only other issue I had with the game was in the tutorial mission it would keep crashing. It seemed to be a problem with a lot of people so I just skipped the rest of the mission and the game has worked fine. Make games you want to play. |

Steam only downloads/installs things when you tell it to install. In your 'Downloads' tab, click the X icon under the game's name if it is still downloading. Right click on the game title in your Library, and select 'Delete local content'. This is Steam talk for 'Uninstall'. If you have the boxed copy, there's no reason to even open Steam to play GA. * edit * Also, with Steam a game is either a Steam game or not. If the game isn't a Steam installed game (i.e. Boxed version) then Steam will not update it. You have to use GA's launcher/updater server to get the updates for the game. Thanks for the info! Really want to try this game. So....I can just uninstall Steam? (would really like to, it's ...uh....Byzantine) And the GA launcher? Get that on their web site or ...... thanks again "It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. Use the special uninstaller found at http://hi-rez.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/233 Locate and delete the contents of the folder: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Hi-Rez Studios Restart your PC. This is important. Run the launcher again, but first right-click the shortcut and choose "Run as administrator". It will then install. Also, if you ACTUALLY checked the forums, you would have seen this solution posted at least 5 times by Goob, one of the moderators. |

I did ACTUALLY read the forums.....for hours......went back and forth so many times with support....( had a really nice guy from UK send me his backup)...then GA cancelled my account and refunded my money.......this was way too much trouble and saying Steam is Byzantine is being polite. But thanks all the same, your explantion was actually logical and easy to follow...wish I had it earlier when I felt like spending a little time figuring it out. You must have tried the steam forums instead of the official global agenda forums, or maybe you searched under the wrong category. This is the right category and forum: http://forum.globalagendagame.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=150 At the time of this post, there are 2 threads with this solution on the first page alone. EDIT: How the support people you contacted didn't know about this solution is beyond me, you can't find good employees these days I guess. It's more their fault than yours for being so amateur and disorganized where they cannot even provide decent support. |

Right-click on the intaller and select "Run as Administrator". That fixed the problem for me on Windows 7. |
