According to website MCVUK.com, sources have told them that the game should be anticipated for a September 2011 release. This is slightly later than the Spring 2011 release originally hinted at by EA CEO last year. Take a look at the article and let us know what you think! Is this groundless speculation? Could we be looking at an Autumn release?

Bioware stated on the forums it is still expected for spring 2011. It could be delayed but right now I'd take their word over anyone else.

This has been all over the SWTOR websight for a few days.  I'm not going to go into detail, but it very likely is BS, the info is supposed to be from an ex or disgruntled employee.  A Mod stated the game was still on track for a spring 2011 release, but who really knows.  There may be some info out this week, and if not, then March 11-13th may be the timeframe for getting a hard date at  PAX.

If you really want the entire sope opra, just head on over to the official forums, the thread for the release date is over 820 pgs long and about 20+ pgs are about this very article.

I for one will wait for BW to put something out before I jump to conclussions.

Wait until the next EA financial meeting and we will knw for sure (if its Spring or not).

Personally, I do no think its possible for this game to come before June/July at the earliest unless Bioware does a lot in the coming months.

BW and probably moreso EA are probably loving this. Firstly it takes pressure from them on releasing actual detailed mechanics which is always a good thing for getting as many boxes sold as possible. Secondly they only have to release around their proposed date to get good press at not releasing in September, it'll be free possitive advertising. All they have to do is be rather scarce and cryptic with their choice of words regarding the matter.

Yes i have time to buy a bad ass gameing pc for this game.

spring 2011 is just not going to happen. september 2011 is more realistic but i think it will be christmas 2011 when it gets released.

Im not sure. Last Star Wars rumor i remember from a disgruntled employeed was a SOE one saying that Bioware was making a SW mmorpg; however,everyone wanted to burn that guy on a stick!

And look at what happened. I tend to believe disgruntled employees. 90% of the time they speak from the heart.

Hi all, Dutch_Gamer is correct -- the target launch window for STAR WARS: The Old Republic is set for Spring 2011. If you've seen or heard any date more specific than that, you should treat it as speculation or a placeholder from those discussing the date. Hope that helps!

Why is Spring not going to happen? Because they keep everything under lock and key and released as little as possible abot the game so you think its not gonna be done? or the fact that there isnt enough time to have a open Beta ? The open Beta thing really dosnt have a point as they could just not offer a open beta .

and before you say they will have a open beta would you A buy the game anyways because you didnt get to try it or B wait untill 9 months before the game gets a free trial i think it would be smart to not have a open beta that way you get more box sales and less people playing the game as a trial and more testing the actual game in closed invite only beta's.

lol.  Okay.  End spring in May. Haha.  I really dont care if there is an official or unofficial gap between "spring" or "summer".  The fact remains, that this game is reportedly due in the Spring of 2011.

Spring most likely refers to their Quarter that takes over the Spring months. Most likely, its April-June Quarter.

Without commenting on whether or not release will be delayed, I would be very dubious of the stability and polish of ANY MMO that did not do at least a stress test.

It does not matter if they had the best dev team to ever walk the Earth. There WILL be issues that only present under live-fire load, and a closed test cannot provide enough bodies to catch them. Not having a stress test says that they are cool with all of their new paying customers finding those bugs in the first few weeks, and that's a pretty lousy way to begin a relationship with your customer base.

I got enough of that with Anarchy Online.

i poly be playing guild war2 be for that games comes out  or some other one while i wait cuz now champions is free to play now i can goof on that too while i wait as well   TOR will be my baby to play in : )   oh,  RIFT   be another contender   as well     havein played beta 5 test it      it looks and plays fun over all     : )    2011 is going to be big boom for mmoes out there that are coming      no matter what fan of what mmo game  : )

To avoid a launch similar to SWG, I would not mind if they delay it slighty to polish and do some bug bashing. SWG is a prime example of how NOT to release a SW MMO! EA better stays off BioWare's back if they want this to become a success.
