I logged on to mmoprg today to see an armour set I had purchased for 10SD$ just a couple months ago now being given away free "to anyone who registers" . I just want to know if in their tiny brains they are considering issuing credits or refunds instead or ripping off the players who purchased just before what is now a freebie? Would love to know, I am sure it is no. But it irks me quiet honestly, to pay for something someone else gets for free. Creativity to build a better world! Check out my products @ www.fe-energy.com |

I'm pretty sure SOE would be the last company of any to give a refund for any reason. |

I've yet to see any shop that would give retroactive discounts for all purchases made during the last couple of months when they put some items on sale. I don't see why SOE would need to do it either. |

Originally posted by perefim perhaps if you looked at it a different way. At the time the item you wanted cost x. Anyone who wanted that armor no matter who they were, would have to pay x. You made the choice to buy the armor at that time. You could have chosen not to purchase it. Now, at this time that armor is free to anyone who registers. Same with most stores. if you buy a shirt for $100.00 and a few months later that shirt is on sale for $49.99, most likely you will not be able to bring in your receipt and get the difference. you could have waited until it was on sale but instead you purchased it because you wanted it. Same with buying DVDs. If I want a particular DVD in my library i can either buy it when it's released or wait a year when I can sometimes get it for a drastically reduced rate. I mean, that's how the world works. there is nothing new here. |

Originally posted by Sovrath Agreed, what costs a lot of money today might be cheap or even free tomorrow, that is always the problem with buying stuff. That doesn't mean this is bright of SOE, I see it hurting future sales. This is however nothing compared to Turbines acting when they lowering the price of LOTRO lifetime membership a few weeks before announcing it going F2P. Sure, people who bought it do get advantages now as well, but they must have known already and should have stopped those sales until they had announced it, not lowering the prices to get more life time subs. |

Originally posted by Loke666 well I don't think sony was ever really bright when it came to customer service. If I owned sony (ha ha chuckles) what I would have done is to make the armor free and for all those people who purchased it, offer them "another" special armor for free as a way of saying thanks to their loyal customers. I mean, they must have tons of virtual concept pieces that they can spruce up and offer to players. I would also offer the same item in the store for those who did not purchase anything but might want to buy it. As far as teh lotro thing, I would have gladly gone back in time and purchased that life time sub. A life time sub gets all the content and a regular allotment of turbine points each month. A free player does not. A free player has to pay to unlock content whenver that content gets added. Or use the turbine points that they accrue during game play. A lifetime sub player just gets it. It's still worth the money. I however am always reticent to jump on those deals because I always ask myself if I will really want to play the game that long. meh, live and learn. |

This. It's $OE ffs, what else do you expect? An honest deal? HA! Just stop giving money to $OE entirely, they'll get the point eventually when their company fails. |

That's the only reason I won't be going to LotRO or playing any other pay to win mmorpg, even though I haven't yet found any class as fun as lotro's Warden is :/ "Only in quiet waters do things mirror themselves undistorted. |

Whenever I hear "lifetime subscription" I tend to stay away from the game. I dont know why really. It just seems like a commitment that I just dont want to deal with. I like having the ability to cancel my sub at any time if the game turns in a direction I dont like. As a player it is the only real voice I have. As far as the item shop thing goes sorry but you are out of luck. You wanted it, you bought it, you had those couple of months to show it off before they gave it away for free. Buyer beware I guess. It sucks but dealing with SOE usually does. |

Playing an SOE game with a cash shop, I'm not sure what else one would expect.
You may feel ripped off, but there is nothing saying that what you're purchasing is going to be worth the same later as it was when you bought it. Considering it's all virtual and will eventually be nothing (once the game shuts down in the future), it wasn't actually worth anything when you bought it.
Just think of all the folks who bought a CO lifetime sub, or the LoTRO folks who did the same. They not only shelled out hundreds of dollars, but they also bought the box.
While I would surely support some kind of system that gave MMO players better "rights" with their virtual "property", we all know what the score is right now. We pay these companies for use of their IP and tech for our personal enjoyment. Expecting anything more knowing how it is seems a tad unreasonable. Consider it a lesson learned. This is one of the many flaws that comes with playing games with cash shops. I personally don't think I'd touch them, but CERTAINLY not one run by a company with a track record for treating their customer base like doggie donuts. I really hope that *insert game name here* will be the first game to ever live up to all of its pre-release promises, maintain a manageable hype level and have a clean release. Just don't expect me to hold my breath. |

Originally posted by sudo honestly (and way off topic) lotro is not pay to win. There is nothing you can buy in the game store that you need. Nothing. nothing. I can't say nothing too much as one can play all the way to end game raids and never need to buy anything in the store. ever. And you get turbine points every month as a vip or premium player or by regular game play so everything in the store is eventually open to the player without spending an extra dime. I can't speak for EQ 2's free server as I am cloudy on its details. on topic what it comes down to is bein a smart consumer or at least an aware consumer. |

MMORPGs are no longer about the mass multi-user anymore *sadly* |

I'm not pumping more money into SOE games (EQ2 now) then the subscription I pay for them. The cash shop in the SOE games it just for the greedy ones who 'want ot be special' or 'lazy not to get the items from game-efforts'. If OP is referring to EQ2X (most likely), then it's just stupid to play on the EQ2X servers. You know SOE uses them to milk their players with the cash shop and crippled subscription models. Better get to the EQ2 live servers, actually pay the subscription and get more value for your money :-D Demigoth's RPG adventures ~ My blog ASUS M4N72-E |
