Hi folks,
First off my MMO history-
I like games with a nice game world to explore and plenty to discover or learn. I have been stuck now playing WoW for about 4 years and i keep quitting and going back and getting fed up with the same things so quitting again. I like the improving my character but i hate being basically stuck with one way of progressing at a set time thats not convenient realy for me. Basically i want to be able to progress in a game without raiding, when i played MxO and SWG i was able to progress in different ways and didnt feel restricted in what i was doing, i have been looking for that ever since. I love the world WoW is set but i just dont think raiding is for me, it becomes stressful and like a second job.
Anyway can anyone suggest a game where i can progress my character and explore a world but not be restricted to raiding in order to porgress?
Cheers for any suggestions!

WAR Level how you want and the game is easy on soloists or players that dont want to feel forced to join an organized group that seems to forget mmos are video games and not life. |

Multiple ways to progress usually means sandbox, of which you have many different options. Ultima Online, Wurm Online, Eve Online, Ryzom, Mabinog, Istaria, Darkfall, and on and on. I'd just pick some and start trying them all until one catches your attention. |

Originally posted by Jimmac I didn't even think of that. I just assumed he wanted different options while leveling. Like how war lets you level in Pvp and Pve. |

I'd add Vanguard to the list of games to check out too. Similar to EQ and WoW, but more epic in scope and feel. PvP is weak, but it's mainly geared for PvE anyway. VG has a unique approach to leveling crafting and diplomacy is something I haven't seen in any other game I've tried. Current: None |

Originally posted by SlickShoes If you're serious about this, then Eve Online really is the perfect game. Make a character today, and then train skills for a few months until you're ready to play. Other people will probably criticize the idea because you will be investing money in a game you won't even be playing for a few months and in a game you don't even know if you want to play, so I suggest actually playing the trial now, seeing if you could like it, then skill train for a few months until you're ready to play with your new computer. Then you would be good to go. The other problem would be the question of what skills to train. If you get to that point I'm sure plenty of people can help out, myself included. And of course it wouldn't hurt to try other games as well during the Eve trial, to make sure you don't find something you like better. Just an idea. |
