Perhaps what some people are picking up on is a person who they can relate to. If someone has the same interests then they suddenly seem more approachable.

Finding common ground can be enticing.

I looked at that video and though the women in the video were of varying attractiveness (to my taste) I sort of imagined that if they had the "right" personality then they might be viewed as being more attractive.

I've seen women who were drop dead gorgeous only to have them open their mouths and lose all their attractiveness. And I've had conversations with seeminly average women who suddenly became far more attractive just because of who they were.

Another thing is that if a person seem comfortable with what they are doing then that gives them a certain amount of attractiveness as well.

Dress a beautify woman up in some hot outfit but they seem awkward in it and they might seem less attractive than a woman who is more average but who "owns" that dress.

Hmmm... I guess, it depends. Most of the girls I know who are playing MMO games and such are lesbians. And yes, they are hot. Anyway, if i should look at it based on my experience before, I think those girls whom you can have a conversation with about your character in a particular game about which class is good, which skill is superb, which quest is challenging is kinda foxy. You know what I'm saying? It's like boys having conversation with girls over basketball. I think they are rare. My ex girl friend used to be my guildmate back when I was still playing Aika NA. Lol. She's really a foxy lady except that we had to break up. LOL.

 Men and Women love competition and attention. Males do it for impression, Women do it through impression. In fact my favorite quotes in the matter are

In turn, this question can not be answered because "Hot" is not really about "looks" as much as its about "appeal" or even "sex appeal" any appeal out there. One who finds another hot doesn't mean everyone will believe such a person is hot. So it all comes down to appeal and desire. 

This question translates to "Are women who play MMOs more appealing than those who dont?"

They are two different crowds. A matter of opinion. Online world is more about conventionalism. Play the game, because great. Females appeal to males online simply because they are female or because they can actually play a game...and see that as being different. 

In the real world, females are the way they are....and appeal based on looks, personality or whatever floats another's boat. 

All one has online is the belief a person is of the said gender they claim...but one also has the danger of playing an mmo and having your perceptions altered, through the character a female plays. A super-cute character, may lead a male to believe she has a calmer disposition of the world...or maybe a hyper one...a female character that looks more revealing may throw the perception of being more active and direct....while a female playing as a male character may send the impression of wanting to not be bothered and wants to be one of the boys. No one knows the reason until asked but these perceptions fly around everywhere.

The question really can not be answered....different environment, different rules, no way to gauge between the two.

I'll awnser with this ; From where I stand I would much rather go out with a girl gamer then a "romantic" type of girl. The ones where you need to buy that 200$ bottle of wine to please her or have to go see a movie every 2 nights , ugh , not my cup of tea :P   Seriously with that 200$ I could buy myself a sweet Razer mice and keyboard or a nice pair of Reebok Zig tech shoes , hehe.

Ok here the issue is that you are online , playing a MMO looking for a hot girl .

Means

1 you are a insecure dweep perhaps ugly , no social real life , not that succesfull in real life .

But looking for a hot girl ??  that alone validates if you ever get a HOT girl , in real life some smug would steal it in no time.

2 You are out for something else , intelligence and empathy are more important then looks .

I like smart and nerdy girls, that said, if she can think for herself, likes video games and is willing to sleep with me, I could care less if she role plays or not. A girl shouldn't role play to impress me, she should do what she enjoys. As long as she doesn't expect me to do it I am ok with however she decides to play. Although I am willing to role play in video games if she is willing to role play in other more private settings. Oh and in before comments how I am ugly or a nerd or any of that other crap because i said "if she is willing to sleep with me" I have male anatomy and I am straight, that means I really like women who sleep with me.

 Considering much of my early "education" was provided by such mythic creatures, they do indeed exist.  Sadly, there are more looking like Marge Simpson than Demi Moore.....

Personally I think that any girl that plays video games and I mean like cool video games and not those stupid princess games and as long as they're somewhat appealing to the eyes is always hotter than hot girls that want nothing to do with video games.

And really what it comes down to is, girls that play video games have a much better imagination.  One that is much more similar to guys that play video games.  So yeah, as long as they're not fugly, girls that play video games are hotter.

No not really hotter. THat being said there are HOT girls that game... Why? For me its due to my profession, owner operator truck driver here.. I game while out on the road when I am parked at night, its a nice way to spend time. When I am home I like to use that time for my other hobbies such as surfing, SCUBA, Jet skiing, camping, offroading, and College football (GO NOLES!), Even though I do stil tabletop wargame too when i am home sometimes. To me I would prefer a girl that I could go enjoy those other hobbies with, with the little time I have to do them.

I have dated girls in the past that have gamed. Which was ok I suppose. However alot of gamers get completely addicted and thats all they ever want to do, this includes girls.  After I got into truck driving I started to cherish my time with my other hobbies alot more. My current girlfriend is a 27 year old hot blonde. We have a little one together.  She has her interests while I am away and we enjoy our similiar interests while I am home. It works better like that, rather  than spending all the time we have together looking at a screen instead of each other.

I'd say there ARE hot MMO girls out there. Playing MMO's frequently (3-4hrs a day) probably doesn't do much good for your physique, though.
