I know I should just install it and try it out myself, but could someone answer these questions since I wouldent know the answers right off the bat.

Is Sword2 much different from the original?

Also at higher levels does it just turn into a auto grind fest or is there enough to keep you going if you want?

I really hate this whole "Sword 2" title they've given it.

It's not a separate game. It's the same old SNW that it's always been, but with a sizable expansion. And honestly... it did not rekindle any love for the game. This game is the worst fucking grindfest ever and bringing it up to the same update as GE did not help that.

Honestly, all this update did for players was add a few UPCs. That's it.

Like i said, i hate that people are calling it "Sword 2." It's not a new fucking game, they've just made it only slightly less shitty.

Dang I was going to try to play it again. Just because I used to enjoy SOTNW a long time ago. I heard the game pretty much died though, and I'm guessing calling it sword 2 didn't get much population back?

I understand what your saying.  A post further down mentioned it was more then a patch, but not enough for a new game. I figured though since the DVD that came with becketts mmo mag said right across it SWORD2.

I asked about the grinding because I seen a youtube vid on it and the guy said that you can pretty much go into a instance and camp it, but put your units to auto while you go take a dump (ok i added the dump part). I was curious if you could actually play the game and get more out of it thenjust sitting afk.

To me it sounds like I should stick with learning Atlantica since it seems to have a lot better Rep and so far is keeping me very interested.

AFKing has become an integral part of the SNW game. I'm sure they didn't do much to fix it. They removed it once upon a time and people ragequit so they put it back.

It's not a new game but it's more than just a few new NPCs.  The change has been gradual over the months but there are:

  • New maps like Errac (day and night versions)
  • New dungeons associated with those maps including the Reb Sewers.
  • New town : El Dorado
  • Continuation of the quest line
  • New raids
  • New instance raids like the Arsene Circus, Fire Gate, Rafflesia, Uraeus, etc.  These allow you to raid those without other people bothering you.
  • Team Arena (this is a popular daily activity)
  • Some sort of Land of the Dead raid for high levels
  • Promotion of characters to Master level.
  • New costumes (this is my motivating factor to play)
  • New weapons
  • New armor such as the elite level 96.
  • New accessories (more belts and necklaces)
  • Secret Tower (another popular activity but requires higher levels)
There's still a grind but there are enough (to me at least ) daily activites to make it interesting.

The population seems steady but the lower level maps will look empty because everyone seems to have migrated to the higher levels.  For players who play for free, Bahamar Underground is pretty crowded.  For people with SA passes from events/promotions/giveaways/cash shop, those spots are crowded.

The big thing I like about Sword2 over the old SotNW is the cheaper cash shop. First time player can actually afford to buy a Vet scroll without useing IRL money. Feso is cheap and available and it takes less upgrade accelerators to +5 an item than it used to. Also if you login everyday chances are they will just give you cash shop items for free. Got 5 quarters slots, wing coupons, and Etherial boxes just for loging in one day. The old Sword never did that.

Instead of starting anew thread i'll just ask another question in here.

So because you already have a group of three people, do you actually group with other people to make like parties of 6 or 9? Im going to install it tonight and try it out, but im sure I wont know about grouping for a long time.

Yes, you join a squad of up to 12 teams, making a total of up to 36 characters.

For the tougher raids, there are usually 2 or 3 squads working together....

If you do try Atlantica, I'll also like to know how that compares.  Never hurts to diversify the fun.
