My words are not here to sway you, they are here to make you understand. |
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/showpost.php?p=333010&postcount=534 The quote that is the name of the thread is from the "Design a dynamic event" panel at PAX where several attendees were tasked with designing a dynamic event. During which they tweeting what was going on. So far we got; Iron quaggan vs malicious krait, Hylek and epic sharks of doom. Click through the link to get the partial lo-down on what they spoke about. This is not a game. |

It's unreal how much info and detail they seem to come out with. This is exactly what I want to see in game-world design: eg ""Eric notes that sometimes races in the game will be your opponents, sometimes your allies. It's not always black and white... ~DC"" I expect polishing to take minimum 6 months and closer to 6-12 months is more likely imo. I like the non B&W view, if you go into GW lore a bit you will find that most of your enemies arn't actually all that bad. Or at least, didn't begin that way. I think its great that they are continuing that even further into GW2. |

This game is looking to become epic. I decided to try out GW1 for the hell of it, seeing as you only pay for the game without having to pay monthly fees, i am quite impressed with that game also. Just hit 19 and finished a few epic battles, though our Sunspear leader got eaten by a summoned demon, and one of my hero's captured, i am now holed up on a new continent plotting out how to free my hero. Even though it is instanced mostly, it is well thought out, and being able to have a number of hero's and hired henchmen makes for great gameplay when not partying up with someone else. If GW1 is anything to judge GW2 by, it looks like it will be a rip roaring success. They know how to build a great game, so i am not concerned about it becoming a flop. All the footage i have seen so far belies that. I can hardly wait to judge for myself in game though, but in the mean time, back to GW1. Archlinux ftw |

Originally posted by Fishbaitz Actually if you think about it the humans were douches in gw1, they basically stole all of the Charr land and built and huge wall to prevent them from returning as well as doing the same to the centaurs. They actually sorta deserve their current predicament, granted the Charr did eat humans and kept some as slaves. Should be interesting visiting "racist" Cantha. |

Originally posted by FreeBooteR Heh, you ain't seen nothing yet. The other campaigns are fairly good to. ArenaNet had some awesome zone design and encounters set up, you can't do what they did in a persistant world. Most people's objections to GW was that its not persistant, no jumping (although I have yet to hear that as a complaint for FF XIV, but its got other problems), limited character customization, 20 levels, and some people hate the limited skill combat. Most of those are game style differences, while the actual gameplay is one of the best experiences I've ever had in a game. Do prophecies and EOTN after you finish Nightfall. Proph is the original one and has the best storyline imo, it also introduces you to the charr. EOTN is the expansion and introduces you to the norn and asura, as well as a few of the more challenging encounters in the game. |

Originally posted by Warband Hell, I'm a charr sympathizer, I'm planning my main to be one. Just goes to show you though, good and evil is all in the perspective. Humans were dicks, displacing centaurs, tengu, and other intelligent races. I can't wait to visit Cantha. Hopefully the Kurzicks and Luxons still have some ethnic identity in them, and to see how much the Jade Sea has liquified and the Echolved forest has returned. Hell, I expect some huge changes in Cantha and many interesting adventures. |
