As for the people complaining about the price, really? You couldn't find the money if you wanted to? If you don't like the game that much that's fine but most of you haven't even  played it and are still saying it costs too much.

Most of the people complaining about the price very likely could come up with the money. That's not the point. The point is that Acti-Blizzard is trying to get people to pay $60 a pop for three campaigns that make up a single complete game, or arguably a single game plus a single expansion pack.

Either way, they're expecting way too much money for a franchise that is overhyped quite literally out of this world.

That's my take on it, and it's exactly why I'm waiting for the game to go into the bargain bin, because quite honestly the current pricing scheme is a complete ripoff to me.

People don't buy SC/SC2 for the single player game, they buy it for the multiplayer. That is the only point to RTS games and even more so with SC. So if you are pricing it off of how many single player missions you are getting then you are not the type of person who is truly into RTS games.

In my opinion any single player only console game (Assassin's Creed) is not worth the money. It has a few hours of single player gameplay and no multiplayer which is where the real hours/money ratio comes from. People buying those types of games baffle me.

Normally I would by SC2, but with all the forced battlenet/Real ID crap I'd rather not touch it.

Then set up a monthly fee for the online aspect and reduce the box cost.  Or sell a single player game and sell a multiplayer upgrade.  Etc, etc, etc...

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

Battle.net is required indeed, but it's absolutely awesome! Real ID however is not forced, its up to the player.

Real ID is tied to your battlenet account. Yes you can choose to never add anyone to the friends list so no one can directly share your information, but your information is still part of their extremely unsecured system that is Real ID and battlenet. Also the moment I do friend someone their friends who I do not know see my information. I just don't like the system so I won't use it. It isn't some kind of take this Blizzard move, because I know there's millions of people who don't care about their information and will use it, so me not using it won't show up on the radar. It's just my choice to not use any of their products until you have to opt in to have your information entered into Real ID, and they seriously fix the security of their battlenet systems.

Meh, RTS isn't my bag. I don't mind if it's a kingdom building type of game with diplomacy and governmental rule, but SC and other war heavy RTS's get old very quick for me.

That said though I haven't subbed to an MMO since AoC so I'm not a number for either side.

Let's be honest, they didn't build it for single player and likely don't care at all about the very few people out there who do care about the single player and buy only based on that. They know 99.9% of their SC2 sales come from multiplayer RTS fans. So why waste the extra time/money to build up a big single player experience that so few care about.

Just because you like something does not mean very many other people do. The majority of RTS players play for one reason only, to play with and against other human beings.

Um?  Are you really that daft?  Think that is the way they say that politely, eh?

Three different boxes coming out over a period of time - three storylines.

Are you even aware of what game you are talking about?

I mean...seriously...lolwut?

Funny how you speak of Console Games...According to IDC and NPD the majority of gamers are singleplayer gamers under the age of 12 who make up the majority of sales. As far as Console Games go....I'm both, a Computer Gamer and a Console Gamer, one of my favorite Console Games was Final Fantasy XII due to how large the game was in its world..

The game allowed you to actually beat the game without cheats at the start level of all your characters if you knew how. Look for the FFXII 122333 Guide (122333 = the start level to all six characters)....the replay value was high. I am into all sort of gaming Genres out there...You are right that RTS games are about multiplayer, unless of course you are a modder. As for the time I've spent playing FFXII....I've lost count, just like when I played the armored core series of games for hours without end.

There are entire communities that exist on building the singleplayer experience further when it comes to RTS games. Amazingly enough the most successful Strategy Game right now that has the largest modding community and most depth and intrigue out there is a Turn Based Strategy Game called Civilization. Civ 4 was a favorite one.

As far as RealID and everything goes...No one has any business finding out my activities online or using my name to find what I do online. In a world where employers are doing whatever possible to centralize people online and in the workplace, more and more is done to attack a person's private life. I view the entire RealID thing as an Intrusive thing.

According to the latest poll I checked at a college I just went to in their gaming department, over 93% of people of around 8,000+ who took the poll that they wanted nothing to do with the entire System.

----Primary System----
i7-2600K @ 3.4 - 4.8ghz
8GB RAM, 480 GTX SC (SLI)
--Secondary System----
1090T @ 4ghz
8GB RAM, HD 6950 (Xfr)
Note: Flashed to 6970 & +20% OC

Yes you are correct in that being one method to not being wrong, another is to just be right. In this case I am correct on what sells RTS games, and single player is not the driving force. Yes it is tough to hear that when it is what you enjoy, but it is the truth. Sorry to be the one to let you know.

Just clear things up about REALID in Starcraft 2, this also goes for WoW too.

This offical Battlenet 2.0 features video explains ( http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/media/videos#/battlenet-overview )

In Starcraft 2 there are two friends list, a REALID list and a regular friends list.  Add people to your REALID list and yes you can see their real name and wether they are playing SC2 or WoW.. add them to your regular list and you see their gamer name and wether they are online.

REALID is meant for people/friends/family you already know in real life, not for some random guy you just had a 2v2 with.

As to the Friends of Friends things blizzard will be making that an option in a future update. ( http://beta-us.battle.net/sc2/en/blog/21187 )

If anyone is crying about RealID, your'e just scared that you can't shit talk anymore to some random people.

Too bad Blizz took out the RealID forum usage, I would've gone to anyone's house within 5 km radius of mine and slammed a bench bar on their fat ass.

In your case its a good thing, since if you are going to do something like that over a game means you got brain damage.

Fine, we'll compromise. I'll get my way & you'll find a way to be okay with that.

Just download the client via torrent when available and just play single mode (offline).

Diablo will be worse.

Just goes to show, most of the people that play WoW aren't MMORPG fans, they are Blizzard fans.

The fact that Starcraft 2 will probably get more publicity than an Age of Empires 2 remake is just sad.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of MMORPG players who don't like real-time strategy games.

That said, if Diablo 3 were coming out the same day, half of the modern world might call in sick :).

Not really, I never saw the point to Diablo. Just click click click click click click get loot click click click.

Besides, WoW is pretty much Diablo with a monthly fee nowadays. More of an arcade game than an MMO

just the fact that SC2 is broken into 3 disks for $60 each is enough to keep me away.  even if it were $60 for all 3 i still wouldn't bother buying it.

but ya i think MMO's will take a hit for a few weeks.

Don't start crying on these forums when you get keylogged.  BTW you buy the real game and play single player offline too.

Yeah except in Diablo it really is that mindless. Its so mind numbingly simple that everything is just done through left mouse clicks. You just roll through all the dungeons spamming your mouse for hours. No thought or depth at all.
