There is no denying it.

Ryzom destroys games like Darkfall & mortal online.

It offers a true community (even though its small), true choice and an immersive world with lore that can be changed by the player officially through events.

Ryzom is the last of the true sandbox games, ripped from the loins of games like SWG, AC and AO we have ryzom the only game that offers true spell customization, player scenario creation, a living breathing world and a community that cares for one another.

No instances, a true challenging game world.

Saga of Ryzom... I give my full endorsement of the greatest sandbox game since Swg.

If this is "The sandbox" game why there aint 300k people playing it?

I would sugges thinking about it then start claiming "bla bla bla best bla bla bla (put the name of MMO in here)".

Its all about personal taste.

I hat to lol about "Ryzom destroys games like Darkfall and mortal online" :) How it is destroying them? By having bigger playerbase?

The seasonal changes, migration patterns and skill system are tits. Also, you can give your chracters huge tits in general. That's a plus is my far-out book.

I'd still be playing it if it weren't for the wonky payment system... then again, atm I am so broke atm that I am relegated to F2Ps.

@above poster, people love the game as soon as they try it, but refuse to play it past the trial with so few people playing alongside them. It's a catch-22 the game will probably never recover from.

By offering the players a choice. nothing is forced in ryzom, it offers true freedom. wanna pvp? do it. wanna pve? do it. wanna rp? do it.

Here's the kicker. you can do all of this without some asshat imposing his will on you taking from your gameplay experience.

Sorry, I just love beating people to the punchline. Great game that is sabotaged by it's perpetually low sub count that convinces others to not bother.

Ryzom sure is one of a kind. More players, and this gem would really shine.

It doesn't need much of a player base.

The game is designed as a guild vs guild game with the option to band together for events, world raids, hunts and gathering.

The game is accessible as a solo player and uses a global channel to keep people connected.

Right now there are two very sizable guilds on both sides (kara/kami) that keep things moving and with the ability to join in on any side during op battles the game functions nicely.

Could it use more players? yes. Is it broken with its current playerbase? not at all.

If anything the small amount of players add to the game. I would hate to walk into an area and see 50+ players harvesting or hunting.

Cities in game are incredibly life like due to the crazy amount of npcs in it.

Ryzoms skill system also lends a hand to the smaller playerbase. with the ability to simply train a low level skills so one could hunt with a new player social players should never have a problem finding someone to play with and if they do the game is accessible solo.

You're not helping your argument at all, because while I whole-heartedly agree with you, the majority of posters here will tell you that "nobody playing = a crap game". People's #1 need in an MMO these days is random schmoes to ignore, because all they need is the reassurance someone else is there.

Hmm, you know, I never really gave Ryzom a fair shake. My only trial was during the interim "F2P" phase it had between owners and I only played a few sessions and never got off the starter island.

As I recall one turn-off was I ran into some hostility by asking apparently a stupid noob question in the global chat and got the usual RTFM responses.   (my own fault I know)

I probably should have stuck it out and made it over to the mainland which is the core of the game.

Perhaps one day I'll give the game another shot.

I don't understand people are playing Ryzom.

I can log in right now say high in Uni and get around 50+ greetings. I have a few dedicated players on in my guild and have a scheduled OP for this weekend.

If noone was playing wouldnt i be alone, left to solo 100% of the time.

THe problem with "new mmo gamers" is there lack of social skills. coming from wow they have no idea how to socialize with people so they can build friendships within a virtual world.

Its not their fault though. Its what they've been taught by playing fake mmos like wow.

When Ryzom went f2p we got a ton as morons that usually only populate f2p games.

Now that its p2p with a reduced monthly fee the community is much better.

You may get static if you bring up wow too much but other than that most of us are glad to help.

Yeah, but very few of those people can be found in any of the earlier areas, and that's where it matters. I did the trial and the noob idle had a far larger presence than any of the mainland starter points (besides Tryyker). Same basic problem with all topheavy games, but as you said, because of the skill system anyone could party with noobs. They just tend to not do so from my experience.

I probably should have joined a guild or something.

I did group with what other noobs I did see around though, and it was a blast.

I subbed for a little while recently and found the community one of the best. Saw some great RP events.

Yes, the small population was a problem, but if Ryzom didn't have such stiff competition for my time, I imagine I'd still be playing. Also if I really liked sandbox games more than themeparks, I'd probably prefer Ryzom; I pretty well like themeparks if there are lots of different rides.

That was a mistake. Someone like me could have easily gotten a couple people together to hang with you.

I have gunnery skills and affliction magic thats low level so i can play with new players.

Finding a guild is essential in smaller population games, once you do that your golden.

so much delusion, so little time.  Ryzom was released in a time when there were a lot of players looking for good new mmos.  When the concept of sandbox wasn't so unknown to the demographic, as it is today.  And ryzom was utter trash.  I mean it was the worst garbage pile of an mmo imaginable.  And that's why it failed.  It had it's chance.

Yeah, but I'm reluctant to sign on with strangers like that out of basic need. I think lots of people are.'

I question if the above poster played the same game we did btw... the game kicks ass these days, and even EVE had a rocky start that lead to glory. Though it's beyond doubtful Ryzom ever will at this stage.

That majority of the genre is unknown to the demographic.

I out myself and say that i belong to this group. I dont play a game if it feels like a single player game. I dont need to socialise but i need to see / know / read other people and if that is lacking you start feel alone and then you lose the main reason why you play MMO, because you want to play with other people and not alone.

I never told or mentioned that Ryzom was in any way bad :)

My personal main point is why i will never touch this game as its population is too low for my personal taste.

Was aswell one of the reasons i stopped playing DF, the population was draining and at one point, its simply wasnt enough to further invest time.

Why come to my thread and lie?

You never gave Ryzom a chance. The game was sold off due to the devs inability to advertise the game. the mechanics were in place, there was nothing wrong with the game.

Because the game was mishandled that means its terrible?

Why come here to troll?
