Just leave SWG alone. let them cater to their 10k fans and hope for the best for those fans.

I'm an old disgruntled SWG player, but I've gotten over it by now ( I quit what 4 or 5 years ago?).  I would guesstimate that 85% of their player base is post NGE'ers, they all seem to have fun so let em have their fun without bashing their game. 

Myself and many others have done plenty of bashing in the past and anyone who knows anything about MMO's knows the story, basically it's time to brush the  bashing under the rug.

*Nugget*  Still hoping for a classic server or even a fresh (no transfer) new server with the current setup.

I am proud of you and please enjoy your New MMO but I give them a little more credit then 10k , would say about 20k.
As Far as a Classic Server, that will never happen and as far as a fresh one , that could happen but I doubt it.

Actually from my experience its more like 50-50 between pre nge players and nge players.

tuff to say, thier are alot that started 2007, but then again thier are still a few from 2005 and then the rare players like me from 2003.    Id say its 50/50 Elders.      Then break it down 20% 2003, 30% 2005, and 50% 2007 and on.

Also, keep in mind that many more alts are likely making it in to the GCW officer ranks, including ents and crafters by way of those city invasions, or whatever they are called.

How many actual "people" are playing? It ain't 20k. Probably not even 10k.

i actually went back and tried it during the Vet free trial period.... nostalgic.. but..about all i can say is that it just reminded me of what it used to be, and can never be again.. SWG is truly in the past now, a footnote as it were, in MMO history - and probably will always be remembered as one of the biggest mistakes SOE ever made, though they do seem quite adept at that now don't they

Exactly!!! My best guess is less than 8k "people".

The Officer Salute is a much better indicator of the population than people give it credit for. In order to stay in it, you need to be "slightly" active in-game. It provides enough of a bonus (buffs) that PvEers and PvPers alike stay in it. Actually from my experience its more like 50-50 between pre nge players and nge players.

Mine too, with the margin of error going to the vets. Most of the people I know in  game have been playing all along. Most of the new members of my guild have played on other servers. Read the forums you will see mostly vets. most new players don't stay long.

Now to be fair I hardly play anymore myself so this may have changed or may be changing.

The last bit of "new content" made GCW stupidly easy to get. During the vet trial, I saw ents and traders moving up the GCW ranks, something that was exceedingly rare before. City invasions were/are base busts writ large.

During one day of the vet trial, I got 50k GCW in one day. One day. It was a joke. Shoot 10 STs, get 500 GCW and some stupid no trade tokens, doable many many times during the city invasions. Prior to that, GCW used to be relatively hard to come by, by way of restuss and PvP. 

That might have been the way it "used to be" with officers, but not any more. Just leaving yourself logged in dancing in a city invasion city will get you several k per day GCW, doing absolutely NOTHING.

And, as a side note, if you had an acct that was not given a vet trial, all you had to do was send a mail in and they validated your acct for it. The acct I tried it on has not been active since 2005. Still haven't paid SOE in a long while.

Great reply and I completely agree! I encourage people to speak up about how they feel about SWG. Maybe some of us are wrong, maybe some playstyle we haven't tried thrives with halos, fairy wings and transgender matchmaking events. Maybe flying pink Ewoks with purple hearts and zombies really do scream "STAR WARS" more than stormtroopers to some...that's what makes this forum so great...we have ALL opinions posted here!

I would simply reply that you are mistaken. MOST accounts have an Officer. I have no doubt about it. If you truthfully never did, fine. That doesn't make it the norm. This is, after-all, a game based on Star Wars where shooting Rebels and Stormtroopers is the basis. Even pilots have to kill factioned NPCs...by the time you finish Legacy, you are well into your ranks by default.
