It's not scared to share its existence with its facebook friends.
Not definitive proof, but its something. |

I don't think it's fake or a scam. I just think the team is small, inexperienced and the game isn't quite ready. If they're able to produce a great game, that'll be fantastic! There are just far too many red flags to convince me they'll be successful, though. I hope to be proven wrong. ~Ripper p.s. On a side note, I think their whole "It probably sounds strange, but we don't want or need more hype" stance is posturing. They've put up a new site and they're publicly celebrating all the hype they've generated. Personally, I think we haven't seen UI shots or videos because the game isn't ready enough to generate them. Hype is exactly what they want because it's the only way they'll be able to generate sales. Without it, nobody would know they exist. |

Duh.
Without advertising no one would know anything.
I agree on the other points you make about how its a small dev team, and they might not be ready for the game to come out. But in a few days we will know wont we? Also, I can understand about wanting to keep it small on the hype, and people playing at first. They are a small team, they dont want 10,000 people playing first hour. With the 20 or so devs they have trying to take care of all the issues. You want to start small then work up. Unlike other games they want as many as they can and dont care so much about fixing all the issues right off the get go just getting more and more.
I would hate to see another MMO released, for 1000s of people trying to get in and cant even buy the game (Darkfall Online anyone?) If it only happens to a few people, it wont be bad, and likely not to happen at all because you wont have the over hype like DFO had.
Sometimes fixing a problem is seeing it ahead of time and going around it. -MrDDT |

I still think the game is fake. Regardless of what they do to prove otherwise. Advertising on Facebook? Please. Facebook is the biggest load of useless stuff I've ever seen. For instance "Can this pickle get more fans than Nickleback?" We shall see when it is released.

The point i make is only that it exists, not that its good in any way. It woould be pretty ballsy to setup a facebook like that just as a scam. With large group of friends etc. It just lends some credibility to the actualy existence of the team and Jordi in particular. The features etc could still be a load of BS, but i doubt its a total scam, like that oldgame, dont remember the name....Dawn? or somethign like it. |

I don't know why so many people are worried about a scam, your credit card covers you, if the game turns out to be non-existant it'll cost 1 phone call to get a refund. Surely it actually would be more profitable to release a game with a small subs base and let it grow than hope for a few $1000 and hope the cc companies don't come after them and pretty much finish their careers, this size scam isn't going to be enough to retire on, if you were going to run a con I can think of many many better ways of running one than this.
All this specualation about "is it fake? is it not?" serves no purpose, yes it's not the way companies launch mmo's now, but tbh all the "hype it up, turn betas into the domain of marketing rather than QA and coding and release an unfinished product" isn't exactly a successful launch model either. |

It uses the 'speedtree' system. That = crap game built on super low budget. Oh and no video but wants people to pre-order??? They cannot be serious! If they are they are too stupid to create a game. End of story. |

Have you actually seen what speedtree does? Why would they reinvent the wheel making a foliage system when they can spend a bit more to get a very nice one? Here's some screenshots: ---- |

If Xsyon is fake it'll take them 30 seconds to call the CC company and get it cancelled. |

Originally posted by randomt I will point out though, don't expect to see graphics like that in Xsyon. Those would be ones used in single player games mostly. While an MMO could use that it would greatly reduce the number of people that could view them at the best quality.

That's true.. Although the mmo Entropia (planet calypso now) does use it - they only draw in the ground foliage in a certain radius around you ---- |

And as expected, even a mention that the game seems slightly suspicious brings a furious uproar from the new fans. Well, the SpeedTree argument is pretty awful, seeing that games like GTAIV, Dragon Age: Origins and Unreal Tournament uses it. Look at any high budget, high profile game, and there's a pretty good chance it uses SpeedTree. Besides, going into a game's official forums with a "this is a scam!" statement, is kinda like going into a new apartment building saying "Yeah, it looks nice, but I hear the roof leaks, and there's mold in the walls" with no proof, just a hunch. Sure, you may be right, but it's rude nonetheless. Granted, you'd expect the owners to be the one defending their property, not the potential tenants, but that's MMO communities for you. Anyway, I can't see what they did wrong except make the preorder page visible and functional from the start after remaking the website. It obviously makes sense to include a preorder page when remaking the website and making it available for the public less than two months before launch, but it should not have been activated before some screenshots from real gameplay or videos from real gameplay were available. That's my opinion, though. Since people are preordering despite the lack of of information and the "wait-and-see" responses from the dev team, it might not have been such a bad idea to let people preorder after all. 90% of the time game-play footage released by a dev team gives you no idea what the game is like anyway, so preordering based on that, is not much better than preordering based on blind faith. |

well i dont care one way or the other.. i dont pre-order MMOS... thats like jumping in a reactor in swimming trunks and expecting to just get a nice bright tan.... tho i do find it funny people will defend a game ONTO death even without any actual info on it... makes me want to make a website offering THE best game in the world and putting a pre-order page up... just so you pre-order war or wow or maybe aoc lololol but we shall see what we shall see. the limited info i found out on the game, does sound interesting BUT then again... lots of games sound interesting... a moldy piece of cheese is interesting until you try it.... err the game i mean O-o not the cheese CPU: Intel Core i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80GHz @ 2.8GHz (0%) |
