Aventurine has announced that they are now offering a seven day trial for Darkfall. There is a bit of a catch, however: the trial isn't free. Instead, you'll have to pony up a dollar to give the game a spin. Go here to get started if you're from North America, or here if you're playing from Europe. Interesting, I was willing to pay up to a $5 to be discounted from the $50 if I decided to purchase the game, but for ONE dollar, that's even better. The time for me to try Darkfall has come... for $1. |

I came home today, willing to buy the game, and there I saw the trial offer. Well, what can I say? With the upcoming big guns 'Cata, FF and TERA', this is a great opportunity for Aventurine to bolster their playerbase. 'Hell, it was about time!' :) |

Even if you end up hating the game, you can't beat a weeks worth of entertainment for only a buck. Really no excuse not to try the game at this point. |

This is great news. I know lots of players hesitant to jump in without a trial, now they have no excuse. I am sure they will be hooked. |

Yup, the time for excuses has come to an end folks. If you've been even mildly interested in this game, now is the time. "My fighting style is kneeing people's face" -Wanderlei Silva |

Reminds me of porn subscriptions, but really, what's the point of the dollar charge? EDIT: Nevermind, stupid question.

Google "Credit Card Number generator". Charging silly amount is only way to check if credit card is valid. |

This is to force a valid credit card transaction, thus preventing the majority of spammers, hackers and farmers into the game. This is not going to make them rich beyond measure. Prax |

If you don't like it they made money if you do like it they just made even more money. I highly doubt they want to profit off trials, this should hardly even cover the credit card operation fee. The reason I believe they set the $1 cost is for reducing abuse of the trial - though they did NOT restrict player trade with trials (or at least they haven't specified any restrictions), so it may turn the argument that trials would result in a massive abuse of hacking on alt accounts true, but for $1 each time or at least these abusers will need to commit one credit card fraud per trial, making it easier to track and legally enforce the said abuser. |

anyone have an alternate download? The only way to get the client is torrent. Which is right now slow as hell. Or to buy an account which means your days are starting to wind down before you get the game and hope the patcher thats built in is any faster.
Right now my 3megabit connection is getting this from torrent at 50k sec and will take 3 weeks LOL. |

Sounds like a good time to give Darkfall a try. Good timing too since the MMO scene is so blah right now. |
