The other guys where right this promo is just meant to keep thier small population from jumping ship tommorrow. I was going to wait till the buggs got worked out but it looks like Ill be playing STO tommorow. GJ, SOE your incompetence still amazes me.
Really ? i would have thought by now that SOE had in fact defined incompetence ... they practically have themselves listed in the dictionary under that term seriously though, every now and then i sub up to SWG just to see if it has improved at all... i guess at heart im something of a masochist... |

All the threads in the support forum? Are you kidding me? So I need to be a detective now to qualify for this? Listen, it's a screw up like only SoE can do. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not "minor", it's not a mistake...it's typical SoE and any company worth a lick would have had a DEVELOPER comment on it so it actually showed up in the Dev Tracker feature they have at the top of their forums.

No, you can go use the search tool like everyone else, or manually check the forums. I already directed you to the specific forums where the comments were made. It is not my responsibility to go back to those forums, do a search for your benefit, and then post the link here because you fail to believe my previous statement, I have no reason to lie - so you can do your own research if you have doubts. If you are that concerned, then go act on your concerns and fish up the info the same way I had to.
As I mentioned in my post, I DID look...in the "normal" Dev Tracker. Any normal person looking for this information will be unable to find it using the "normal" tools and will only be lucky enough to stumble upon the post you're referring to by dumb luck. Even if they DO stumble upon the correct link in the support forum, the TSR from Sony tells them to send a PM!!! A PM. What he of course fails to realize is that if an account isn't active, you can't send a PM. Not only that, but now every returning player who has been told they have a free 30-days needs to send a PM to activate it? Wow...no potential for problems there huh?! It's a Customer Service nightmare like only SoE is capable of. |

Since the big update is related to the Galactic Civil War, starting over wouldn't be very appealing. Giving SOE 50 dollars to pay a "free" update would be even less appealing to me. It's amazing how SOE can offer something for free, find a way to charge 50 bucks to actually play it with your old character, and make sure that it's bugged at release. I'm wondering if it's even necessary to play to see that some things never change. P.S. Gotta love the ongoing excellence in customer support too--if your account isn't activated as it should be, send a PM lol, wow. |

Guess I'm gonna give it a go my account is open (just tried logging in on SL, 27 days remain on SWG). Is bloodfin still up and running? For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson If you can't argue the point don't say anything at all. |

Gorath, Sunrunner are not doing so well, I just looked at the officers pages, Sunrunner has only 4 pages of officers, and Bloodfin has about 25 pages, while Starsider has 56 pages. What does that mean? I think it means theirs about 3 more servers that are close to closing down this year. SOE doesnt seem to care it messed up with the free transfers last year. I think the trend will go like this 3 close this year, 3 next year, and what thier left with will be about 5 populated servers in about 2 years. But will they keep it open for about 5 thousand people? Right now I think thier close to 10-15k people, but they still pay for about 50k accounts. |

Well my primary report is a bit positive, I really don't know if it's the game itself or other MMO's that makes me feel that way. It was quite nice playing a game that is wide open and offers plenty of choice in things to do. The players I came across were talkative and helpful, as always with SWG. The new features they've added are quite nice as well, even the new PVP stuff looks good. My favorite addition is the appearance tab though, as well as the chronicle stuff. I'll continue on, didn't notice any type of hitching or screen lag my fps stayed at a steady 60FPS at most times. Stability is definitely not an issue at this point, now if there were just more people. I'm considering moving my main to starstrider actually. I don''t have to know how to make a better game, I only need to know where the "CANCEL" button is! |

After being unable to install the client without giving payment information, I went back and filtered through this thread. I didn't see the fine print about the Jan 2007 cutoff. Apparently, they aren't interested in people who stopped playing due to the NGE and haven't been back. So much for confidence in their product. Screw you, SOE. Uninstalling Station Launcher now. I was actually reading something about some form of PVP for neutrals in the new system. Found it taken from the MMORPG.com GCW interview. "Other new key features include Factional Mercenaries, which gives neutral players a chance to choose a side and take part in city invasions, and, of course, tons of great new rewards and in-game items" For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson If you can't argue the point don't say anything at all. |

In normal situations I'd agree, however you have to consider most who are playing have been doing so for years as a part of a given faction. There's more to it to them than the ability to PVP at anytime. It's evident in how many skirmishes I ran into last night between rebs and imps, for a game reaching 7 years in age there was quite a bit of activity, this was late at night BTW. (Off topic) Comparing Bloodfin to Tyranny in AOC I'd say there's quite a bit more population wise. There's a lot more going on that's for sure anyway. I'm bordering on going back to SWG as a main game right now. It's a hard decision of course, given the history clouding the game, and my personal feelings toward what went down. However, when I compare what is in galaxies to what else is out there right now, there is just nothing as open ended as SWG IMO. Last night all I did was explore old locations (some have had nice make-overs). Rode around on my mount out on endor, dathomir and Yavin. I haven't had that much fun in an MMO in years. I think a lot of those wounds I carried have just gone away, I saw the game differently while playing last night. Sure the feeling that it would be much better with a pre-cu style character building system, was in the back of my mind at times. Which if it did there would be absolutely no contender to this game IMO. There's just so much to this game it boggles my mind why no one has tried recreating something like it.
Sorry went off on a series of thoughts most of this wasn't really a reply to your post.

Seven years later and still no smuggler/Hutt/Black Sun/criminal faction eh? Pity, but totally predictable. ... |
