A new patch will be deployed tonight, replacing the current launcher/patcher with a shiny new version. This should solve most, if not all of the problems new people have with the current patcher.
If you already took part in one of the earlier stress tests, you can patch using the launcher/patcher. There is NO need to download the full client again.

Make sure the following drivers/tools are installed and up to date.
The game will NOT work with outdated versions.

Windows Service Pack
DirectX
PhysX (also for non nVidia users)
Graphics Card Drivers (nVidia | ATI)
Audio Drivers
.net Framework 3.5 | 3.5 Service Pack 1

Please note: The idea of this test is to crash the server. So expect lag, crashes, all kinds of problems.

Well, I guess better late than never. I told them their patcher was total crap, now we'll see if they co-opted the code I gave them to write it initially.

I have a feeling I'll be in for a laugh.

Hercules, with all respect, stop keeping complaining. If you are good at programming, you can try to find an own idea to develope into a product., instead of wasting your time here.

Besides, I don't have the talent to create an MMO, nor do I have the funds. But at least I can admit it :p

It will be better, faster (built in torrent/differential patching), less loud, over all smoother.

Your current launcher will first download the new patcher/launcher and then start it's magic*

I've been patching for over 24 hours, and I'm about 50% done. Looks like I'll be there as well. Lucky for me I downloaded the torrent when I did (yesterday morning).

I have, that's what I do for a living. Well, I don't write software any more, I manage the projects that include software building. But it's financial software so very boring, and I have non-compete clauses in my contract so I can't write anything if I wanted to.

There are other kinds of software system than MMO or financial. If you keep on looking you will find one. Use your talent in the positive way.

you shouldnt need to patch if you got the torrent. there is a patch today tho

When I started up the launcher yesterday it just started patching, thought that was normal. Am I doing it wrong?

Not exactly sure what was going on tbh. That wasn't a 40 mb patch that's for sure. I have the torrent anyways, so I just quit.

Well seeing as I've been right about them needing a patcher all along, I fail to see how my foot would be my mouth for them finally making a new one.

 

I mean, I gave them the code to do it and an idea on how to do it as well. We'll see how they went ahead with it.
 

im just messing with you but i was referign to your last bit about laughing. every one knew they needed a new patcher i happen to mention the torrent patcher and they said it would take them a bit to get a patcher like that

yea make sure you point the cach to the right spot

Downtoearth is right but let me elaborate... I created a Folder C:\MO and unpacked the contents inside and started the install and pointed the install to the MO folder and it works... Previously i had it pointed elsewhere and it tries to patch a 5000MB patch... so like Downtoearth said make sure to point it to the folder you unpacked the DL into...

Thanks a lot downtoearth and suhreman, I see where I've gone wrong. I really should have read through the MO download page a little bit further than I had. My own fault, and thanks again.

I was invited to the stress test last night but my band was  playing a show so I didn't get home till like 1 or so.  But gonna check this out on Sunday and help crash some servers.

They are currently updating  a patch w/ a new patcher so now you'll get the "Client Version doesnt match" error like the rest of us until the new patch goes live...  http://twitter.com/MortalBeta status of the patch .
