I don't wish to point out that this game heavily advertises on this site but what could lead to the conclusion that it was improved? Patch 1.05 was supposed to save everything and that was the last content patch in almost 8 months or most of the year. Here is a forum devoted to the bugs after that patch was pushed out ignoring all test server feedback...forums.ageofconan.com/forumdisplay.php all patches since were to bug fix that, but there are still big issues, most sieges on most servers still lag and crash so players don't do them. For a MMO with so little content compared to peers it should have working sieges on par with Warhammer and Aion which do have working sieges. By low content I mean Aion, Warcraft, Everquest 2, LoTRO and Warhammer have more quests and areas while leveling and then double it cause they each have two factions with multiple starting areas with two separate areas for more content. EDIT: also this game was the worst balanced PvP all year, ever since they nurfed gems two years ago casters had been over powered and nothing was done and around 2 out of 4 players play as casters which is nothing diferent as they have no combos. I don't get it as most players left before the new year last year, at least 8 of 10 at release players, and then after patch 1.05 the population shrunk and per X fire it is less than half of what it was. There were free trials and the population grew and swelled to almost 3,000 users per day on Xfire and yet on the quarterly Funcom blamed Aion for not gaining in population after free trials. Competition is a pain and KOTOR is coming out which will have much better quests and leveling and Guild wars 2 which is popular and the new final fantasy MMO so more competition. My point is instead of blaming competition AoC could have improved and grew. So what has improved enough to say this is most improved? They added an end game instance and a group end game instance...but wasn't that two years ago? so they added nothing much last year. and even then 1 raid zone and 1 group instance is not much. they added around 33 quest per Funcom and 1 new zone and most of that was the year before last, I don't get how it is most improved since it seems to have gotten worse....much lower populations and combat is much slower than the year before. This guy's posting history is hilarious. It is preferable not to travel with a dead man. |

I don't really know who your thread is aimed at. Anybody who actually played, or just followed, AoC during this year will know in a moment that you are lying. Is this intended as some kind of hater circle-jerk or something? The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. |

In contrast Warcraft, EQ 1 and 2(per X fire it took EQ 2 around 4 years to work its way down to where AoC is today and it was considered a bad game), Guild Wars, LoTR and other popular MMOs were growing on the second year instead of the low population main servers crying for more players and the head developer saying that small tight nit communities are working as intended. Xfire means nothing, always has meant nothing. I don't use it, nobody I know in RL uses it (some never heard of it) and many of them play WoW, so you'd figure they would have heard about it at some point. With that said, it means absolutely jack to bring it up. Writer / Musician / Game Designer Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4 |

(please correct if wrong) The #1 reason why I think you do not get it is based on the fact that you have not played enough to see, nor experienced all the new playfields and quests and PvP contained in those area's. Have you tried raids? because there has been re-vamp there, have you tried crafting? (yes it still sucks) but it has improved. Yet you refuse to make a character again from fresh and log onto a decent server to see just some of the above changes that have been acknowledged by mmorpg.com and by the people on the forums paying to play all the way through. You see you have not played the game continuously but have populated forums here with a negative attitude, judging from your post. Something you admitted to from qualms over such a dislike from your initial experience. I think that is fair to say plus, how the hell can anyone take anything you say seriously when it is not your own opinion and some 3rd party cross post. To help you out here, my own personal advice to you would be to wait for Patch 1.6 and then try and find a decent guild and then give the game ago again. That is judging from what you like in games. Why do you only talk about other games and xfire, out of all the updates this year you are arguing against you can't say one personal experience from any of them. Excuse me but red flag here? Even Zorvan is giving the game another go, I do not expect him to stick with it, but at least I will respect his opinions more because of time with the thing he will talk about. The award must of really been eating at you to let a week go by and then comment. Maybe it is because as we can see here people are re-trying the game, they can see some 'alright' improvement. I would say to fully appreciate all of the changes you would have to be in to a bit of everything. mmorpg.com rating 7.0 / user rating 7.8. You know what that 7.8 rating was nearer 7.0 a year ago. In addition most of the rating were done at release or after. Here let me post the last 10 comments on the rating for you. (I took Thorgrimms out as being correspondent) kain6993 writes:

GPrestige writes: Sorry 10 hours in a whole year does not make you an expert which is why you are trolling your own thread bringing financial stuff in - LOL. Sure you can supplement the very little experience you personally have had with the game with financial figures but it still doesn't do anything for you trying to lecture people on something you have no experience in. Post some up screens from the log in page when you was last on and maybe might believe you. Players and financial info has no bearance on if the game has improved. A game can still have improved. Neither has advertising on this site. Nor has if a personal is from Norway. Poor arguments.

Originally posted by GTwander I don't use it but is good statistical measure to compare game...you think more X fire users play WoW than AoC or more play guild wars or you think way more call of duty players use X fire? is a sample......thing is when AoC was popular it was number 4 and now it is in the 60s down from 10,000+ users to less than 700. So did just the people who use X fire quit? there are forum post about low populations on the FEW supposedly populated servers as I already linked in this thread.
So servers are dead and X fire numbers are low, X fire must be broken. I played Aion and knew no one who used Xfire in aion and it is still very high and there are still many players so IDK guess xfire is broke. I played WoW and knew no players that used X fire as I don't use it and it is high so it must be broke. I know no DA:O or CoD players who use it so it must be broke. It is a random sample it works or it wouldn't show the trend that it was way up two years ago and way down this year and was way up during trials and then way down after.
