For all those who think DF is the best game of the year (and those who don't) Massively.com is holding their annual best game of the year vote.

There are a lot of categories and DF is in all of them.

The question is, Can it win any of them?

It will win some but I don't belive MMO of the year, and I'm not a hater. The problem is how do you accurately rate an MMO? There are so many different ones with different play mechanics. It is all subjective. Awards don't matter much for a game. The longevity of a game matter more, in my opinion.

thinks back 10 months when darkfall launched and they completely closed up shop not even allowing you to buy a new game

I agree with you 100%, however for a small company like AV winning something, anything is important. DF has had a very limited number of reviews by the mainstream gaming press. Some of the ones it has has have been done by reviewers who are self confessed massive WoW fanboys. A WoW fanboy is never going to like a game like DF. Its like asking a 12 year old female Brittney Spears fan to review a Thrash Metal album. It doesn't matter how good the album is they will hate it.

If DF can get some attention through things like this then maybe some of the press will take a look at it with an open mind.

This is why no one likes DFO. It's the xboxlive of MMORPGs, it's full of 13 year old ethugs that no one else likes, so they made their own community to trashtalk each other in.

Better to refuse to take peoples money to try and keep current players happy than to sell way more copies than your servers can hold and end up with 10 hour queues like Aion did.

Aion only had queues on the highest pop servers and people were too stubborn to go to the lower pop servers. Mine never had a single queuetime

Aion is going to take most of the categories just off the sheer number of people playing it as opposed to the other games on the list.

Nevermind the fact of WHY they didnt let more people buy the game becuase the server was getting over populated due to ....demand

This is one of the sad things about forumfall. People assume that the players are the same trash talking trolls as the forums. You would be amazed at how helpful players are in DF.

Yes if they see you out in the wild they will slaughter you and loot your sword from your cold dead hands. If you ask in race alliance chat about how to do something you will always get help (at least in EU Human, Dwarf, Elf chat) Not only will people help with your problem but others will join in offering more advice.

The one thing you must NEVER do is moan in any chat about being killed and looted. If you do that you will get abuse. Fell free to ask anything else you want though and people will help. its actually one of the better MMO communities I have been involved in.

I think the face your only allowed one one char helps. Most people don't have a second account and so your character builds a reputation. if your a jerk I can guarantee you will be hunted and slaughtered everytime you leave your city.

I know I voted for Aion for most of the choices(I've watched Aion for a while and only played for the first month) and picked it as best game of the year and biggest disappointment just because the year has been so stale it's the only game worth mentioning(for me).

And what's wrong with fallen earth given the most rating for crafting? that game is all about crafting.

Because most people don't even know what "Fallen Earth" is. They did almost zero advertising.

Perfect characterization of some "professional" Darkfall reviewers in these year.

My vote would be none, IMO nothing that has come out this year deserves that title at all.
