My intention in this thread is to create a location where announcements in relation to Age of Conan: Rise of the Godslayer can be posted. My hope is that potential new and returning players can look to this thread to find any info describing the RoTG expansion. Official Rise of the Godslayer Site: http://www.riseofthegodslayer.com/ |

Age of Conan Vault: Rise of the Godslayer Review http://conanvault.ign.com/View.php?view=gameinfo.Detail&id=2 "After 25 years ago Conan had freed elephant god (by killing it), evil that has been kept at bay in Khitai starts to rise. The vast Empire of Khitai is now slowly waning into ruin as conflicts are rife throughout the provinces and there's no higher power to lift the darkness from the lands... Only brave players from all corners of Hyboria can help by alligning themselves with one of the many factions. An impossible task lies ahead: mortals have to do what gods themselves could not..." This site includes great detail about what is present in the Expansion. There are also videos, trailers, and in-game footage. |

Slightly off topic. But where did AmazingAvery go? I noticed he quit posted around the time that you started advocating. Anyways, good luck with the promotion. The most misused word on the internet: loose adjective, looser, loosest, adverb, verb loosed, loosing.

I'm not going to lie...I've missed AoC and this just makes me miss it more.
The scenery is absolutely amazing and I really miss the combat. I only ever got to level 38, but the game was tons of fun. Right now...WoW is just not satisfying my PvP craving...
maybe I'll give that free 2 week come back thing a try. I've always wanted to get a conqueror past Tortage... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Great trailer, but then it's probably a "world" put into square boxes again. |

The devs already said it wont be. There are a few videos around where they talk about how they took player feedback on the issue, and in the expansion you will get to see into other zones and look behind you and see into past zones much like any other mmo. |

But hey; any news on the alternative advancement system(other than the general bla bla bla)? |

On a previous thread, I tried to talk about all of the reviews that were out there since Day 1. The way I handled it was a bit overkill. I can't help but be enthusiastic about a game that I think is being underestimated. So, taking my word for it (as biased as it may be) is not what I ask of anyone else. Even in its worst condition, Age of Conan harvested a huge amount of positive reviews. For power-levelers, it did not meet the hype. For folks rushing to meet end-game, it did not meet the hype. For folks who wanted to immerse themselves in the Hyborian World and participate in a TRULY BEAUTIFUL GRAPHICS ENVIRONMENT and WONDERFUL AUDIO AND SOUND EFFECTS SCORE, it was a raging success. Role-players and Casual Gamers flocked to this game, and many have stayed like myself. I have been asked by several people, what kind of reviews have you read from 2009? This was a little strange since I had reviews from July 2009 (and more) in the old thread. Let's play devil's advocate here. Avid gamers likely think that anything over 30 days is probably ancient history, so I thought I should share a RE-REVIEW from ZAM.COM in NOVEMBER 2009. Is this recent enough? The reviews talk about Age of Conan's strengths and weaknesses, so, again, do not believe me... Read what a Published Reviewer had to say about the current state of Age of Conan. The REVIEW is in TWO PARTS: PART 1 - TORTAGE and Level 1-20: http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=20398 PART 2 - POST -TORTAGE and Level 20-80: http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=20529 The Last Paragraph of the second article pretty much sums it up to me, though I feel the population is stronger than what this reviewer posted. The writer goes to great length to talk about what was reported as damaged goods, and which failures have been rectified. FunCom is listening to players... How else would they have known what to correct? In the end, one thing that we certainly have to note is that, if Funcom had released Age of Conan as it is right now, there is no doubt in our minds that this game would have been a smashing success in the industry. What's unfortunate, however, is that the public eye has since passed over this compelling game, and now AoC is lacking in a different kind of content: social content. Our own guess is that some server merges, combined with Funcom's newest deals on AoC subscriptions may be just what this MMO needs to revive its flagging populations and, perhaps, prevent the problem of there being nobody left to appreciate the great steps forward Age of Conan has taken. If a fantastic MMO just keeps getting better, but there's nobody left to appreciate it… is it still a great MMO? Don't let it come to that! Give this game a try! So, I ask you, the SILENT MAJORITY, what do you have to lose by engaging in a FREE TRIAL? You get the benefit of all the improvements over the last 18 months. Cancel it if you do not like it, and you lose no money. At worst, you pay $19.99 for the game (some report even lower prices if you shop around). Get your Avatar ready for the RISE OF THE GODSLAYER. If it is good now, imagine the improvements added by Update 6 coming out very soon? Imagine the loads of NEW CONTENT, on top of what we already have, being introduced with RISE OF THE GODSLAYER? The Hype Machine may have been wrong in MAY 2008, but, if it sits now at what it should have been in 2008 by some accounts, then you are getting a really great experience at a very reasonably low initial cost. We Veterans paid a lot more; I have a Collector's Edition and you know how much those things cost at release... Worst case scenario.... You try it out until you can play Star Trek Online or Star Wars: The Old Republic. You have a couple of months to have a wild good time. Time will go by faster until you can play "THE NEXT GREAT THING..." I have a good feeling that it may be as hard for you to leave Hyboria as it is for me... Prove me wrong!!! An old Cimmerian saying goes, "Fall down seven times and get up eight..." I also like, "That which does not kill us makes us stronger..." In any event, this game has been REBORN. New players start every day. Huge Guilds are returning. Lots of old players have returned, and they are liking what they see. Ask yourself... How can a person that does not play a game, or admits that they have not played it in a year or more, know the current state of a game? If I believed everything that I read in a forum, I would never play any game, since every thread has people bashing whatever game is promoted. See it with your own eyes... Hear it with your own ears... Play it with your own hands... You are the best judge of what you find fun. Play it for two weeks and offer your own mini-review on these forums. I, PERSONALLY, want to hear what you have to say after trying it for a couple weeks... I will be waiting here for you... |

Interview with Craig Morrison on Thirteen1 http://www.thirteen1.com/Issues/13131109/mag.php#32 This is an online magazine, and it looks like a good article talking about Rise of the Godslayer. In 'Rise of the Godslayer' you have introduced the playable race, The Khitan. Could you give us some lore about them and where they fit into the Conan story? Craig: The Khitans and the kingdom of Khitai is a very foreign place to people from the world of King Conan. It is a vast and mighty kingdom that has been wrecked by internal conflict and strife for many years. Please read the article to learn more? Craig answers a lot of questions, so turn the pages and enjoy... |
