I don't see this doing much to remedy the situation. They need to make fundamental changes in their security protocols or else the bots will just keep coming back. |

Isnt 16k practically nothing? Something like a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the total amount of botters in this game? |

Eh... even if its a fraction its a start at least. The question is, however, how many RTM botters were part of that mass banning, how many hacked accounts and how many actual players who never really botted got the boot as well? There have been quite a few posts of people who have canceled the game getting notification that thier accounts have been reactivated (hacked and reactivated for the sole purpose of bot-farming). Some even on these very forums. I wonder how many of those people had their inactive accounts smacked with the ban hammer. |

Wait a couple of days and the vast majority will be back. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe. |

It's not like I was using the definition of the term fraction that would make sense or anything, no why on earth would I do that. |

Great to see they are finally doing something about this. I read about them making a team to deal with them it's about time they are put into action and do something! Now let's see tonight if their is anything different in the zones they are mostly active. Maybe a chance to actually complete quests without being interrupted by bots all day long. |

If they dropped the banhammer on botters and gold sellers, how come there are still gold sellers on there? Seems you can get rid of the gold sellers much quicker than the botters but it looks like NCSoft is collecting a cut on the gold sales so why cut out yer profits... :) |

I can actually say that I have never seen a bot in LotRO. I have seen gold spammers, but never a bot. I think it boils down to how actively the company that supports the game battles the bots. I think Turbine does a good job of this. Maybe the game needs more GM support to take an active stance, but just banning 16k after 2 months isn't gonna cut it. |

nice.... I post my observation and you sh*t talk me. thanks.... Lemme break it down to you big bird style shall we? Bots are a little harder to figure out unless you sniff that bot out and learn it's patterns. Gold Sellers, well, it's pretty obvious... "BUY GOLD NOW, WWW.IAMAGOLDSELLER.COM" Hrmmmmmm, something smells fishy.... |

people who think this matters need to grow up and invest their time in the real world.
Of the million "initial accounts" I would guestimate that at least a quarter were farmers. I know I saw the same damn two dozen spammers from week three of beta until the end of month one of my account. The same DAMN toons. Plus all the bots that jumped in after the second week. You can buy a timecard OR account code from three major farm sites, CHEAPER than you can buy retail, they have plenty, AND they must have gotten a sweatheart deal on them so they can sell them cheaper than retail... It's called business. They ALREADY spent the money on time and accounts, it will cost them nothing. They just have to make up the initial costs, if they have not already, and the rest is gravy... they won't shed a tear over a single banned account. Count on it. 16,000 is NOTHING. This is nothing more than PR. Good, bad, indifferent, it does not pay to invest any emotion in this. |

Tonight, AION Community Manager TAMAT reported that 27,000 botting accounts were BANNED this week. Now, this is Progress!!! Recommendation: Now that NCSoft has the IP Addresses for 27,000 botters, share with the all the other Game Developers so all these botters are blocked from every game that we love. Now that would definitely be a Happy Holidays Present!!! |
