Nice! Thanks for the info. I really thought the game had died (i was part of the community right before everyone left) Why are there so many cutesie, fantasy, childish MMO's. Give me blood, gore and a long lasting challenge. I don't need my hand being held along the way. Thanks. |

I read a lot of good things about Alganon before I had taken a proper look at it, it at first sounded on paper like a really serious contender for a future hit, then however I took a long look at it & it's really the very worst carbon-clone of WoW I've yet seen, they copy pasted the UI...zero effort to even alter it's artistic appearance to fit in with it's own universe/flavor.....h wait, no point because everything else is ripped out of WoW too, hell even the world map made me do a double-take to see if I was looking at WoW or Alganon in a screenshot. When you think Dave had been at the helm of the probably over-ambitious Horizons & then does a complete 180 to churn out this carbon-copy garbage I have to think something inside the man's head got broken, he truly does appear to believe the BS he's talking, why try to make a WoW game when there is already a hugely siccessful one on the market, had the game been a F2P offerring it might have made some sense, snagging the "I want a F2P WoW" crowd that definitely does exist in the market. So for all those reasons I think Alganon will hit the skids shortly after release, it just lacks way too much, copies too much, & offers too little "newness" to seperate it out for even being a niche title. I think SWG will get canned once TOR is on the shelves, or shortly after & once DCUO is out CO will likely fold as it bleeds out subs & Cryptic focus hard on makig STO it's main breadwinner, aiming to have 1 success in it's stable rather than 2 failures. I'm worried about Funcom's titles with the way they have been hitting huge losses & are predicting even more losses next quarter, I hope that trend bottoms out rather than continues to decline or TSW wont see the light of day.

It certainly seems that some responders to this thread are using more in terms of a "wish list" rather than being based on any proof. As far as Anarchy Online goes, it's baffled me how its kept going all these years. And the fact it has may be an indication that there is enough backing to keep it going for longer. Unfortunately AOC is perpetually playing "catch up" to the state that it SHOULD be in. Seeing that both of these games are being run by the same company, may indicate that they may stay online longer than what we would expect (due to continual investment regardless of the rate of development). |

Despite not liking the game, I don't think it's closing any time soon. They also Dust 514 coming which will definitely expand CCP's player base, possibly bringing D514's player base over to EvE, having a micro-transaction service funding D514 as well as box costs and just overall being profitable for CCP. Yes, Dust 514 will sell. It's the FPS every console gamer wants...unless there are too many numbers...if it turns into the EvE of FPS games, then it won't sell all that well. |

No one said Champions yet? I guess everyone have forgotten that game by now. Considering its now beneath CoH on Xfire Im guessing its pretty close to death now, maybe they can go F2P (like it should have been at release) but considering alot of people have lifetime subs it probably will be hard to make the transition. Aoc will not shutdown any time soon.Funcom has experiance with free to play models.Aoc will stay open with one pvp server and pve,rp pvp server running on hybrid f2p to pay model for long period of time.Beside Aoc is just begin to launch Asia that will buy funcom at least a year. The likely suspects are small indie type games like Alaganon or Spellborn and games that under huge company that don't need the money from the game like Vanguard,SWG and SoE and War and EA.

Well it's more like co-existing between two siblings. Except one is capable, intelligent and sure of itself while the other is slightly retarded, paranoid and nobody likes it.
Disclaimer - The former is TOR and the latter is SWG. I do not, however, believe that ToR will be a massive success - I hope so, but I am not here to hype it. The company behind ToR has just proven itself to be much more capable than the company behind SWG. Time will tell what Bioware will do with ToR. |
