If you own any shares in alternative energy companies I should start dumping them NOW. The conspiracy behind the Anthropogenic Global Warming myth (aka AGW; aka ManBearPig) has been suddenly, brutally and quite deliciously exposed after a hacker broke into the computers at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (aka Hadley CRU) and released 61 megabites of confidential files onto the internet. Read it :o

Manipulation of evidence: "I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline."
Wow, well. That goes to show you that you can't trust any institution just by their word. Original intent or not, they're still powered by money.
Fantasies of violence against prominent Climate Sceptic scientists: "Next
Oh, come on. Fantasies of violence? You're going to find that in personal emails everywhere. The article points out some very persuasive evidence further on, but come on... at least filter out the important stuff. Some guy's hate for a guy isn't exactly a charge against him.
... and it just occurred to me that I'm trusting this source without regard to the truthfulness of it. What a sheep am I. How do I know the emails aren't fabricated? Ugh, back where I started. |

I certainly don't trust anything that comes out of Anglia "University". There's a reason it isn't called Cambridge University and it's not a geographical one. |

On the bright side, Al Gore can keep eatin' them meat burgers and laugh in PETAs face while he's doing it. The other thing is that I don't want to be hypocritical here. The guy who hacked into this organization's email did the same thing as the guy who hacked Sarah Palin's email. So if he is caught, he should be punished accordingly. But that doesn't diminish the fact that this is bombshell news and ultimately he did a service to those who are fighting against the destruction of their economies because of climate change legislation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tK6YIAX1jg |

Great, so now it's a "he said, she said" argument. This accomplished a whole lot of nothing. |

Originally posted by Precusor I love this quote from what Sab posted: "More interesting is what is not contained in the emails. There is no evidence of any worldwide conspiracy, no mention of George Soros nefariously funding climate research, no grand plan to ‘get rid of the MWP’, no admission that global warming is a hoax, no evidence of the falsifying of data, and no ‘marching orders’ from our socialist/communist/vegetarian overlords." There was absolutely no mention of the above, but they are already on a worried defense.

Alternative Energy is not a bad bet whether or not global warming is caused by burning oil. Oil is NOT the way to go. Oil is finite. you pump it out, it's gone. Yes, some more leaks back into the well a few years after you pump it dry, but then you pump that out, and it's gone. Energy use IS going up, not down. Doesn't matter if California bans Big Screen TV's, doesnt' matter if crazy liberals make a law that we all have to keep our thermostat at 90 in the summer and 38 in the winter. Doesnt' matter if EVERYONE on the planet drives a Prius. With the Indians and Chinese entering the global economy, and transforming from an agrarian society to an industrial society, even IF we do all those things, Energy use goes UP not down. We already hit peak oil production during the last economic boom. The economy will heat up again, and we'll hit peak oil production again. That is, we're burning it as fast as we can pump it from the ground. And you ain't seen nothing yet. 100's of millions of Chinese and Indians still dont' have electric lights, and they are still growing in population. Even if you give them all a crappy flourscent light, they will still use MORE energy, not LESS. PLUS, a lot of oil is under the feet of crazy Muslims. The more you spend on oil, the more money they have to spend on Allah Allah Akbar, Jihad! (Not all Muslims are crazy, but the Jihadist ones are.) So, there's plenty of reasons to get off of oil, and on to something else, even if man made Global Warming is bullshit, which it is. What's warming the planet? The Sun, duh. |

They will lie and spin to save their assets.
Fix'd. Any institution will lie to save themselves. This should also hint that the instigators perhaps did fabricate evidence to back up their claims, as the opposition is a threat to their assets.
Either way, the issue is a moot point. Alternative "green" energy is also renewable, which Oil is not. |
