I'm not going to flame you. I do have to say though, that this really makes no sense at all. First you say guys playing girls in an mmo are cross-dresser. Then you go on to say you won't group with them because they aren't being themselves. Maybe they are? Or did you mean to say "I like people that enjoy being themselves as long as it fits into my idea of what is socially acceptable."

On the topic, who cares? If you're playing mmos to pick up chicks, you're doing it wrong.  Also it's only a game. not real life and as other pointed out...Can you only play a Troll if you're a troll? Have you never played a game with a female main character? 

When playing an MMO or any game onlyline to be honest, I always assume it's a dude unless I am told otherwise. I play both male/female characters in games. It's just pixels for the type of character I am playing. But I am never anything other than a dude playing a game. I don't act like it in game. I'm not a cross-dresser and I've been married to my wife for 12 years and to the other before her for 2 years. I have 4 kids. I feel pretty confident about who or what I am, despite what my character in a game looks like.

I have to say you anti people think about it way too hard. To some of us it isn't a statement. If I want to say stuff I say it. Itt isn't a social experiment. To some of us, it's just another damn game.

This is an attempt to force other gamers to give you real life information about themselves.

You are not entitled to real life information about other people just because they are playing a video game.

Demanding they have to tell the truth or  not reply is  a way to try and get real life information from people playing a video game.

You have no right to real life information from people playing video games.

No one is lying to you because you have no right to know anything about a person in real life just because they are playing a video game.

Demanding that they MUST tell you their real gender, refuse to answer the question, or be silent, is just saying you want them to give you information you can use to infer their real gender.

But no one playing a video game is obligated to give you any information you can use to determine anything about their real life.

you are confusing "lying" with playing a game.

A lie means I am attempting to deceive you.

I do not think anyone I'm chatting with in an MMORPG is naive enough to think I'd divulge any real life information to them, and I dont think they are divulging any real life information to me.

Therefore, there is no intent to decieve.

I feel sorry for people like you, people that can't realize the line between a VIDEO GAME and REAL LIFE.

lol feel sorry for me? I got a RL boyfriend RL friends and i play games with them... I play mmos to not feel so bored it fun to txt someone half way across the world or go see them because you like them that much You people limit yourselfs behind the computer because you make complete asses out of yourself that no-1 would ever realy want to know you... probly why you hop from game to game bitching about each one... because you never took the time to make real friends in the game.. Just because its a game doesent mean you cant make friends...

It is not lying, it is roleplaying. It would be like watching a movie and saying all the characters are lying because they are not really them, but actors.

Basically, in a game, especially a mmorpg, you're an actor, playing a role. It is pretend, it is fun, it is for entertainment, not a purposeful harmful intent to deceive.

I'm calling this one right now, you're a guy pretending to be a girl who was lied to by another guy pretending to be a girl who got embroiled in a seemingly lesbian romance only to find out that the other person was, indeed, a dude. Now bitter toward the practice of (other) guys pretending to be girls over the internet, you crusade against them via MMO forums.

For all your high and mighty adherence to the code of not lying, you still come off as somewhat less than wholesome because your parents apparently never taught you to look at a situation from others' points of view, not to judge, or that saying things like "retarded" is closed-minded and insensitive, or as you so eloquently put it, =bad. One day I hope you'll realize that not everything can be coded to black/white right/wrong.

Really, the truth isn't what you're after, though. You just don't want your guildies to perceive you as a liar. Thus, I have your solution. The next time someone asks if you're a girl in RL say, "No, I'm a man." They will believe you, and not think you a liar.

But then, you'll miss out on all that special treatment, and that's what this is really about anyway. But you can't admit that, because then you won't be able to protest it while at the same time claiming the moral high ground.

I believe that cdude93 is correct, but just in case you are sincere about your morale dedication:

People have a right to lie about their gender just as much as you have a right to ask them about it.

It is your choice to be honest.  Even if there actually were some way to force such honesty from the masses, would you not rather make the decision for yourself?  How else would you judge the individual if he/she isn't given the choice to make the right decisions.  It's much better knowing that you choose to be a good person and do what you consider to be right, rather than trying to force your ideals on others.

It is their choice? have i said other wise? No? I'm just saying i dont agree with their choose nor do i have to agree with it...
