I'm looking for a F2P mmorpg that has a unique combat system. Something like Cabal or AoC where you don't just sit there clicking the same 3 skills in order to win. Something that takes timing, and a bit of skill to master.
Id also like the game to have decent graphics (cabal online or better quality) I don't mind if the game is a grind so long as the combat is really immersive and if possible group based game play. |

I would suggest checking out Chronicles of Spellborn. |

And his name, that sat on him, was Death. And Hell followed with him. |

Yes, the chronicles of spellborn, or dungeons and dragons online: eberon unlimited |

Isen't D&D online even less F2P than most though? |

In my time playing MMOs i've only found a handful of good F2p games. Atlantica, Runes of Magic, Perfect World, Requiem, Mabinogi Might want to try games like DDO and Guild Wars that have you paying the bare minimum and then having no monthly fee. Atlantica, DDO and Mabinogi have unique combat systems.

Unique combat, Spellborn is most unique game I have played in a while. Atlantica is awesome because it has an old school RPG feel to it in the style of the older FF games where you control a whole party etc. DDO is pretty awesome as well in its own right, but the only part that is an MMO is town... once you go to a mission or leave town its only you and your party, if you have one. Combat in Spellborn is most unique though. Where as DDO is real time combat where you aim and click. It is over the back point of view. It is ok though. Also sword of the new world is sort of unique in that you control a whole party at once (three characters) and basically you can put them on auto attack and just sit and watch lol.

I am downloading spellborn, I had herd that game was shut down though odd. Glad its not. Atlantica I have tried and if it was not for the terrible graphics I would probably keep playing it. |

Spellborn changed companies, now owned by acclaim, which have made it f2p while it is in redevelopment.. so don't expect patches/maintance until it is redone. Suppose to be redone by next year. I currently do not play because the game does not like my system. Even the acclaim techs agree with my system specs I should be able to run at full settings and no lag but I still have lag no matter the settings. It is graphics lag too which makes no sense at all.

Megaten Online has a unique combat system, although the game didn't impress me. Spellborn has a cool system too and some of the quests are fun; herding up cows back into a pen. |

I am pretty sure Aeria is the only host. I don't know much about them because I didn't really like the game overall. |

i played megaten in beta i thought it was pretty sweet... its part of an anime series that was pretty awesome. After beta test my patcher quit working, i figured it went pay to play and was too lazy and distracted by the other mmos i play to care enough to check on it.

Spellborn is actually a pretty game, and if you want an MMO with a unique combat system, its spellborn, definetly! its combat is quiet challening and fun. really hard to master. just get trough the somewhat boring tutorial, after that itll be alot more fun. the first big city is also overwhelming. good game, GREAT F2P game

Is acclaim going to wipe spellborn servers once they finish making the item mall or whatever they plan on doing?
I see there is an unlimited level cap so I'm wondering whats up with all that. |

Well... I was going to suggest Atlantica Online but since you didn't like it... I would suggest Granado Espada as well. It's unique in the sense that you have to control three characters at the same time, and it's a lot more challenging than controlling only one character, because you have to time your skills and make sure that everyone is still alive. In short, it takes more strategy than the average game. And the graphics are beautiful as well... probably the best in any free to play game that I've seen. And the soundtrack is absolutely beautiful as well. Main characters: |

MegaTen is really cool with having control over yourself and your demon in a semi-twitch environment. No aiming but you have to click to shoot. DOMO has a cool combo system. Aika's gonna have 1000v1000 combat. Dragon Nest is gonna be an Action MMO. |

Atlantica is getting highly cash shop dependent. I am NinjaNerf. You see a lot of me in AO :) BTW I wanted to try DDO but couldn't register for some reason. After I entered all the required registration infomation I got taken to another Tribune trial offer page. It asked me to subscribe to LoTR and DDO (yes, DDO again). Is registration bugged now? |
