Some pretty awesome games coming out now days. Borderlands and Dragon Age are the two that have taken me completely away from any MMOs. I have a lifetime sub on LOTRO and I play DDO, but those games are going on hold for a while... at least till Mirkwood comes out ;) I really like Borderlands, probably the most fun FPS/RPG I have played, but Dragon Age is one of those games.... the games that are the foundation of the whole genre. And yeah the PC version of Dragon Age is way better. Don't play Dragon Age in gimp mode. Play it like you will die horribly if you don't control the action. |

Gave up on the MMO genre. Maybe FFXVI will renew my faith. Loved FE but was always playing alone. DAO is awesome and will be playing it for quite some time. Also the console season is very good this year. |

I too have pretty much completely given up MMORPGs of late... None of them have been worth a crap for a long time in my opinion. I keep trying to get into them when they come out because I remember how cool I used to think these games were. Unfortunately I find myself preferring to play great single-player RPGs like Dragon Age or other non-MMO multiplayer games instead. They are just much, much more fun to me these days... and they don't feel stale and uninspired like every single MMO that comes out. |

You can be the hero of your own story in an RPG. You can be a nameless unimportant hero, much like many others running around in your face, often screaming and swearing, who are competing to chronically repeat the same story bits in an MMORPG. Woe the day when readers demand control over novel writing. Remember, it has to be fun to be a game. Grinding is a bedroom activity, and the point is definitely not to do my wife as fast as possible. |

Playing Borderlands right now (4 player co-op is insanely chaotic and fun), not sure when I'll get to check out Dragon Age. No plans for MMO gaming any time in the near future. Why would I? These co-op and single player games are just that much better. They have the one thing that no MMO can hope to create right now...fun game play. When was the last time (outside of PvP) that you actually had fun just killing shit in an MMO? How about never. Take the crazy loot and levels away, and the game play in BL is still a blast |

I'm playing Dragon Age Origins right now, and I love it. I'm hearing a lot about Borderlands but I haven't played it yet. Which game is better? |

I hope the impact will be none at all. Bleak world, dark story, and a world like a quest-tunnel withlittle to no freedom to explore. I like my MMO worlds free, open and less dark.

Borderlands have one very important feature which i hope wll be standard in next gen mmo` s. To get big fat criticals, you need to aim. The combination of the good old fps Headshot and huge numbers is fun. Try the Sniper, with all the crit enhance talents a sniper headshot does like +4x dmg - result: alot of oneshots. Melee combat is failed completely though. It dosnt work with first person view. Too chaotic, button mashingly gameplay. Dragon Age is allso a very addictive game, with some pros and cons. I dont like the rpg rule set. Instead of specialisation you just get a ton of spells where you end up using 1/4 or suchs. Alot of wasted talent points imo. Same problem AIon have. It just dont make a lot of sense when ppl ask for character "Builds" for theese 2 games( MAx lvl build: you have all spells. Before max lvl, you have less - so much for builds). You should be able to stuff out, each spell/abillity with 5-10 points imo. ANother issue is Biowares graphic engine. It kinda sucks, at the very least it could be better. Check out Akharm Asylum. My dream is a MMO or RPG where Ogres look abit like the Twin Titans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FebqyqChp0s.

I bought Dragon Age and Torchlight. I was hoping that one of the two would be good. I got lucky, now I have two great games to play with very different styles. So far, I am pretty happy with my choices. |

I quit playing any MMO about 6 months ago, 1st time in over 7 years I have not had a sub to something lol. Recently picked up Borderlands and DA:O and lover em both. I miss my MMO's for sure, but until something I actually can get into comes out I will stick with my PS3 and PC non MMO games. The MMO genre needs a change, either that or im just getting too damn old to play em anymore =) |
