All I have to say is that " You have to be kidding me!" They can't even have a successful launch of any game they ever created not to mention make a good game but yet they are going to receive a grant to make another mmo ? Mind-boggling at best.

Well, they have actually made good games. Longest Journey was a pretty good game. And I still love Anarchy Online, and Age of Conan is decent as well. All subjective I guess. Launches they are bad with though, yes. However, it is going to be a F2P MMO based around socializing and a single (to start with) sport. I am going to guess that it is going to be a kid friendly, simple system, making it pretty hard to mess up. |

Funcom managed to release one of the best adventure game ever as considered by many - Longest Journey. even beating many old school Sierra classics. Anarchy Online after a few years is also considered to be a quality-made MMORPG. Age of Conan was a flop at release but Funcom is still dedicated improving it and as Anarchy Online it might be finally accepted as a quality game as well in a near future. I have no reason to think Funcom is any worse than SoE, NCSoft, Blizzard, Turbine or Mythic. REALITY CHECK |

LOL, who did they get the money from? Tony Hawk? This could be a very cheap project for them to develop and it could attract some players to our genre so this isnt entirely bad. Although the game itself will very likely be nothing but an emulator mashed with a reskinned Farmville... Nothing that would attract serious MMOers, but it might do the trick for the crowd that wishes they were into "extreme" sports. Just to make things clear... |

Performance doesn't matter at all...the consumers in this industry prove that over and over... FunCom may be total incompetents when it comes to actually launching an MMO, but their PR and management types have always been able to talk a good game. I'm sure they had a good power point presentation ;) |

Funcom is from Norway, which is a heavily socialist country. As anyone knows, Socialists are great at talking, and terrible at actions. Seems to be pretty on par. Watch for any of the higher ups at Funcom int eh governmental races coming soon! |

If people will give Funcom money to make an extreme sports MMO, then I'm gonna ask it. I want money to support my "help me build a badass gaming rig" foundation. All proceeds donated will go directly to me... for building a badass gaming rig. "There is only one thing of which I am certain, and that's nothing is certain." |

I think I'd rather just participate in extreme sports in real life and stay fit. |

And yet here you are on an MMO site... You cant possibly game and stay fit, right? Or do you mean that just because you would play the game version instead of the real life version, that for some reason you would be unable/unwilling to actually snowboard? Because you could not possibly do both, right? Not to mention that not everyone is capable/has the money to/has the skills or want to do it in real life... |

What the hell are you on about? Way to read more into something than it actually is. All I said is that I'd rather participate in extreme sports and stay fit. I apologize if that offends you or kicks sand in your vag. If you want to play a game where you skate board or surf then do it. |

It's aimed at Norwegian/Scandinavian pre-teens and teens, not many games for them if they don't know English :) |

You sound like the typical "you should be out in the air instead of playing games" person. You could have easily saved yourself that comment. It is like if someone was talking about a racing game and I came in and said "Yeah, well, I would much rather be driving a REAL car." If your only point was that you would not play the game, then why bother posting at all? |
