Plus is the immature people never get past the rookie channel. The minus are the immature people that do get past the rookie channel. And the troll post was just getting to long from the i hate eve kiddies to reply there:)

I think you have it backwards, Eve is the perfect noob MMO. It requires no actual skills what so ever. just know the math and you'll win most fights. No twitch based combat or direct controls = no skills. "World of Warcraft is the perfect implementation of this genre." - Hilmar Petursson. CEO of CCP. |

Try being in an actual fleet next time...... EvE fanboyism - thinking that EvE is the be all and end all because the game's economics and politics are so complicated that it keeps out all the trolls and nubs while still retaining open PvP and completely forgetting that 3/4 of the game is automated. See also: Chronicles of Spellborn fanboyism and Dungeons and Dragons Online fanboyism. =P EDIT: I'd like to note that during my time in EvE, I spent my excessively long mining, traveling and even sometimes combat times taking restroom breaks, making food, eating said food, doing chores, doing homework. Hell, I had all the time in the world. =P |

I've been gone from it for 2yrs and Traveling time has been severely decreased. If you're looking for action, then you're pretty stupid for trying to mine. I've been off and on since beta, more off than on, but none-the-less I still think it's a great game. Just until recently, when I started playing the game as a Hobby rather than a Game is when I've really started to enjoy it. I've only been back a month and haven't seen combat but like 3 times and 2 of those was just me getting ganked in lowsec. All that said, there's no use in really arguing with you. You're just trolling anyway. Pretty pathetic. If you don't enjoy the game, GFU... nobody really cares. The game stands it's ground and will for a much longer time than any MMO that's ever been around. (yeah games like UO exist, but they don't REALLY exist with a decent size playerbase) |

I'm just expressing my opinion that I didn't see EvE as taking all that much skill for a person like me who catches on quick in a way that people will obviously pick up and respond to. The whole fanboyism thing was that recently, as with TCoS and DDO, there have been an increasingly large numbers of avid supporters that seemed to have come from thin air. As you aren't one of them, I won't lump you in with them. Just saying though. |

As you aren't one of them, I won't lump you in with them. Just saying though. You say that, but you wouldn't last but a few minutes beyond the protection of Empire space. This is what people always say when they haven't played or tried to play EVE like it was WOW. If you ever tried to really play the game on it's terms you would fail and this is what you lack the courage to do. In EVE you have to fail to learn. You have to pick your self up with nothing and try again knowing you are going to fail again. In time, you figure out the tricks that keep you alive, and once one lesson is learned there is always another. EVE is complex and dynamic game play but most of all it is engaging. It engages you with other people and there unique ideas for survival. In EVE all the complexity means nothing until you use it against another person or have another person use it against you. It is nothing more than opportunity wasted by apathy. As your post so aptly points out. |

did you watch any of the videos? You have to manage alot of modules. your capacitor, speed, orbit, ammo etc etc. Again, watch the videos. If people did what you said they would be out of cap in a minute and all your shields and regenerators wouldnt be so helpful. |

Wait wait. So EVE doesn't take skill? What do you mean by skill then? I can understand if a soccer player says something like "-no single computer game require real skill", because the meaning in "skill" his refering to is somewhat different to what we talk about here But,To say that EVE doesn't need skill because all it takes is pure math...really? So poker doesn't take skill too. Neither the CCG Magic: The Gathering. I can say, without error, that the MtG player only needs to build a deck and simply use it during a match. And that's true. But having the strategic thiniking to plan a build for a specific task, and the wits to use it well in battle..That takes some skill. Not the same uber skill as button mashing some hot keys for super powers or maybe some spells, but some skill indeed. PS: What the hell OP? to create a post just to put this up? |
