Just curious what the general consensus is among those that visit this board. I personally believe that Cryptic probably lost more paying & potential customers than they gained. I experienced a 24 hour download of 4 gigs, the server crashing, a couple lost connections, and multiple crashes. Reading the official boards makes me believe that this wasn't isolated to just me. How do you feel about it?

I had to vote fail.

I originally quit playing after the included month after I bought the game at launch. It just wasn't as good as CoH. 

Saturday, I loaded the game to play and saw there was an 700mb update. I was thinking, that shouldn't take too long, charter just did a speed increase, and speakeasy is showing me at 15meg now, instead of the previous 5meg.

Sat at 3% a while, looked in on forums. Okay, try restarting like everyone said. Still slow as dirt. Same crap that happened at launch. Played Vanguard while it downloaded, hours later finally log in.

Was going to duo with wife after she finished cooking, but ran up to some random people at a portal. Finish that, jump in. I'm solo against level 18's and I'm level 12. WTF. Create an event that is basically a Halloween event, and not everyone can access it.

Then I thought I'd try out the new Celestial powerset, just to find out that you have to complete the event to unlock it.

FAIL.

Fail. Miserably.

First, the patcher was a broken piece of garbage most of Friday and into Sat. But, even once I finally logged in, I notice there was hardly anyone there. I shrugged it off, and went to level my 23 that I’d shelved b/c every mission was +2 or more to me. I search for all this increased content… fuggin nothin. I go to every crime computer contact, and see every quest giver. They’re all still +2 or more. I finally land in Canada and see some new additional repeat quests. “Sweet” I think… no. “Defeat 150 of X” repeatable quests. Are you kidding me? You invite me back to see some lousy half assed grind quests? Jesus, did their devs and marketing dept really think that was the missing piece to their abysmal retention? Awful display of “pride of ownership”. Cryptic is quickly becoming the new $OE.

I say it passed, only took me about 5hrs or less to download it.

It was really refreshing to play then all the other MMOs out there.

Could only stand to play it for a few hrs at a time, it was nice to see you can skip the lvl 1-5 zone after going through it once.

I did have my share of problems but I enjoyed the game and it was fun.

I wouldn't think to attack your positive opinion as we are all entitled to see things our own way but I have to ask: Have you been reading the official boards this weekend? I'm just wondering if you picked passed because you think that the majority of paying and potential customers had the same positive experience as you or if your vote was strictly based on you and you alone.

In other words, I'm wondering if I should have included 2 additional options (1) Pass for me but not sure about Cryptic & (2) Failed for me but not sure about Cryptic.

I think it would be good to add those options.

I mainly on the STO forums and don't care about the CO forums.

But I been waiting for a chances to check out how CO goes and see how the game runs on my desktop.

But I picked it pass on me and me alone... I had a good time with the game and gotten to play it pass the 10am cut of time, like 6hrs after.

Thanks for the response. I wish that I could change the poll but it won't let me at this point. I had thought about those options right after you posted and your response confirms that I should have had them in from the start. O'well. I still think that it will be a good enough gauge to see where the general opinion is at.

Download patcher - failed

People that made it in though liked it from all of the in game comments I heard.

I didn't even know they were having a trial weekend. Was it just for returning players? I wouldn't purchase CO without having a chance to try it first; so I guess they failed getting me.

It was opening to everyone, so that was a chances to try it to see if you would like it.

But so far if they got more new people to play CO and get the game then it is a pass.

Well, it's been a week and although there are only 33 votes I think that it's safe to call this one a majority. Judging by these results (nearly 3 to 1) and my own personal experience I would have to say that Cryptic has their work cut out for them. I truly hope that they come up with a better plan for the next free trial weekend and start to turn this ship around.
