Never ceases to amaze me how bigoted and xenophobic MMO gamers can be. I guess it proves that you really do only need an IQ of 80 to play WoW.
How does the suggestion that games that originate from Korea tend to involve a significant amount of grind possibly amount to bigotry and xenophobia? It's fairly obvious that you have no experienced of either if you think that identifying a trend that is back-up by substantial evidence is somehow bigotted.
And secondly, you're automatically imposing your values on Asian people who clearly prefer games featuring grind. Here's your logic: 1. Someone states Asian people like grind-based games, but make it clear also that they personally don't. Nothing wrong with that, everyone's entitled to an opinion. 2. You don't like grind-based games and neither do any of your other Western friends. And because you're an ignorant, sanctimonious leftist you assume they must be bad and therefore suggesting a certain group of people may like them is tantamount to calling those people stupid. (See that? That's you being racist right there, imposing your values on others.) 3. Now Korean people like grinders and don't care that Westerners don't. But they also understand they're entitled to their opinion and as yet, no-one has a monopoly over the 'correct' opinion. You can't reconcile this though when someone else identifies it because you've already decided that grinders are only played by stupid people. 4. So, off you go on your little self-righteous crusade calling anyone who suggests Korean people make grinders a racist, xenophobe, bigot, nazi, fascist... I'm sure you have you're own little list of 'argument winners' so I won't go on. All they did was identify a trend and you can deny facts, but they won't change.
You people are so tiresome and so predictable.
Now go away and whine on a movie forum about how racist Avatar was, so you can show the web how you totally missed the point there too.

looks like a fights about to start. Yea, One can say that Korean games are a bit grindy. I dont think it will matter as much in TERA though. The combat system is like an action game. You only complain about grinding because its too boring in a lOme point - click - 1-2-5-3-1 -w -A- w. You get what im sayin. By the way there has been news of TERA team possibly lowering experiance needed to gain a lvl. |

Some korean games are grindy some are not. The social atmosphere most Koreans game in with PC cafes make grinding games easier to tolerate. Also a lot of games are grindy due to western importers normally taking some the crappier games over. And korea has a lot of crappy games (A lot of good ones also). They produce MMOs like a rabbit does babies. Another part of the Grind i think also is connected to the fact Koreans due stuff extremely intensely. They drink intensely (even though their alcohol tolerance is not that strong) they work intensely, and practice intensely. Casual games normally would be torn to shreds by most korean gamers. Grindling a lot of the times is the only way to keep them occupied. |

Aryas, you are right. But you have to admit that Crusade against (to example) Koreans is a best way to persuade them to make correct games. If not, we wants "Western" patch. We have different brains, different values, thats all. |

Originally posted by ComnitusOriginally posted by Guillermo197 Uh, we all know people said the same thing about Aion, and Aion has absolutely no grind. Also, it's bot-free, runs like a baby's bottom, has the best PvE, PvP and PvPvE ever, and also has girls with nice boobies. TERA will be the same, except even better. We're entering a new golden age of Korean MMOs being awesome in the West, too! For everyone who STILL doesn't get it, the poster meant it sarcastically. As for TERA, the graphics do look fantastic and tbh I don't care if its a grind, what I care about is how in depth it will be. How customizable will my char be, can I play the same class in a multitude of ways. Is there a 1/2 decent rewarding crafting system ? Combat looks really good, but without some depth to it ill give it a pass. If there is a English beta later I will absolutely want to take part. I didn't enjoy AION much, a lot of flash very little substance. The moment my char fell in a pool of water and promptly died I was out, but I'm not ready to dismiss all eastern MMO's just yet, who knows this one may just be what some of us are looking for, no way to tell till we can actually get in and beta test the hell out of it. |

I came to the forum page of this game wondering why it was #1 for the day, but this post is my #1 favorite of the day. To me it is total poetic pwnage of the highest caliber! I hadn't looked at this game until today, it looks interesting but this post is totally spot on. It's a simply history lesson, every other Korean game (and a majority of Asian games) have been total grinders. I am personally no good at debate and rarely enjoy forum bickering, but this is an actual good and thought out response. You sir have done a wonderful job and even if my stamp of approval means nothing, you still get it! *STAMP* |

Having been to Asia I can say that the Asian way of thinking differs from ours. Personally, I don't like Korean games at all and don't plan on wasting another dime on one. |

Even if the game will have grinding, it will be easier to take it, since it's action based. You can't really judge it as an asian grinder just because it's korean and most korean games are grinders. Maybe they wanna do something new. That's right! It wasn't me who was wrong. It was the world! |

I am not totaly sure WTF is going on anymore in the game world, but i have noticed the whole bitch of games latly is where it was made and is there a grind to it. Is it not time we all sit back and think about what we are typing befor we do? all this post became is a bash against Keron game makers and U.S. players. i thought the idea of this post was about TERA. Fact of the matter is most of you have not played it. most of you had a bad time in another game and bash it because it is a Asian game.most of you bash it cause there is a grin to it. I remember the early days of Eq and UO where everything was a grin you had to work for that bronze armor. Games were fun the grind was part of it and people did not bitch . Now i understand WoW made MMo's easy and the younger players are use to getting things handed to them ,but lets let the game developed befor we out right bash it. Lets stop the hate with who made it and who plays it .We as a human race have enough bullshit to deal with in the world let alone to spread hate in a game world, |
