Wait... aren't you talking about Dawntide now? |

Wait... aren't you talking about Dawntide now? Oh wait...we weren't talking about Dawntide... *rereads* Oops...Haven and Hearth...right... Yeah I didn't like Haven and Hearth. I tried to like it but could not for the life of me find a plot of land not covered in someone else's crap that was accessible without the need to swim...
Sorry about that man. xD |

My fave game is FFXI,but it is not for everyone,so i will have to say EQ2.The problem with any game i could mention,is that they are all sort of older, the zones before end game will be sort of empty. Eq2 is a COMPLETE game, however like most games, you will need to find a party or a few players to complete the better quests.Outside of FFXI,you are pretty much going to find every mechanic in EQ2 that you would see in most other games. There is of course the odd exception, trivial things however, that really should not change your decision of a game. I like Eq2's crafting, you can avoid the tougher quests and solo if you want. The thing i found in EQ2 that i did not find in any other game, was the willingness of players to group. There might only be 8 total players in a zone, but there is a good chance 6 of them will party. There is TONS of quests in EQ2,several starting cities/towns.You harvest in hopes of finding RARES,that is what allows you to craft your own elite gear or elite spells.Yes you craft spells in EQ2,that is a different twist to most games, and they have tiers/rank. If you did play,i believe it was one of the mage class that had a fun spell called FREE FALL[i think lol].Anyhoot it allows you to literally jump off very high cliffs down to safety, without injury. The game has meaningful guild activities. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

When I started crafting in Aion I was like "man this is awesome". Then I got to the point when I needed to fly to gather that crap in the air and I was like "man this sucks" and haven't played since =( Not to mention the gold farmers have totally jacked up that games economy. Tried FE to about lvl 20. It seemed as though everyone did crafting (maybe not higher up) so it was like all the stuff I was crafting was just my own. Other than that the crafting system was pretty cool. Gathering is typical. I did like the fact that I used everything I crafted. I'm downloading Ryzom now. Been hearing a lot about it lately so maybe that will help with any population problems it has. I can't believe I'm also thinking of looking into EQ2 after some of the stuff I have read. EQ1-Kunark was my first MMO and after that I swore I would never play another SoE game again. Then ther was PlanetSide. What the hell, at this point I don't have anything to lose. I'm so tired of everything else. |

I'm personally gonna try DOMO out myself since it's free, boasts crafting and you can fly on a weapon. Unfortunately, the anime graphics will probably turn most off to the game. |

Unfortunately. they just did. And I'm still bored, Vanguard trial is too limited so I can't know if its worth buying and Everquest II is pretty good but all the quests are just typical "kill, run, collect".. |

I know this won't be the most popular choice on these forums, but I'd suggest you give Star Wars Galaxies a try. What I would like: -Lots of exploration. SWG has not just one huge world but several. -Good crafting system that is important in the game. Also harvesting the materials would be nice (not just killing monsters and crafting items off the items I just got.) SWG has the best crafting system imo bar none even after the NGE. -Not too much grind/repeating some quests. This maybe an issue after the CL 60 or so there seems to be some dead spots in interesting content between CL 60 and 90 where you will have to do some rather boring mission terminals, but they now have a system that allows players to write their own quests so it maybe much better with this addition. -Character customisation. One of the best out there even with it being a 6 year old game. -Okay community and not too empty world. I play on Starsider and the community is great. It is also a server that is very very busy. I really can't speak for the other servers which are less populated, but Starsider is great. -f2p or p2p with trial. Has a 14 day trial. -Player driven ( economy?) Check, SWG has this as well. SWG suffers from terrible inflation, but credits are easy to come by so even though prices are unrealistic so are the amount of credits you earn so it all works out. -I'm not graphics whore nor I care if it's 10000gb and requires good computer or if it's browser game with crappy graphics. Personally I like the graphics. To me they don't feel dated even after 6 years and it doesn't take a killer gaming rig to run. ((-Player housing <3) Again, best player housing of any mmo out there imo. |

For me it's all about Lotro while i wait for "the one" lol.. it's like the morphius of mmo's ...
Lotro 9.99 to buy, can do 3 months for 29.99 *cheap subs are awesome* and get dec 1st expansion for .. free! Tons and tons of solo content.. Lots and Lots of quick group quests and instances, story instances are all going solo, tons and tons of stuff to do at cap.. When born you can farm mats for things to sell, crafting is easy but fun imo...or work on deeds (think Alternate character advancement) in quick burst, so when i don't have time.
Then there is the LI system.. legendary items.. leveling up your main weapon and an offhand.. fun fun.. I like the fact on casual nights there is always something i can do, or on hardcore nights, at cap there is tons going on..
Then with the new skirmish system coming, more fun!
Try it.. has a free trial , and you know what.. as a guy who played them all, i'll admit Lotro isn't the best of all time, but it's the best out there.. and it came out 2007 so it's still being actively developed... If you get on there look for Deadz on eldimeir.. brandywine is the most populated server.. eld and landroval are pretty good too!
Oh and my favorite part.. some classes play so drastically different it's almost like playing a new game!~ LIke the warden is combo oriented like AoC "lite" while my burg is standard mmo combat..

Oh I won't lie there are servers that have light populations in Galaxies, but there are also half a dozen with healthy populations and as I said my home server Starsider is more than healthy. I have tried most the games you have and became bored. I returned to SWG a year ago after a 3 year hiatus and the game is better in many ways than it ever was, but hey its your dime. All I can say is that you can try it for free for 14 days and if you don't like it you are out nothing, but your time. Edit : Oh and I also noticed english is not your first language. SWG has two european servers and both seem to have healthy populations. |

Totally understand.. It took me 3-4 tries to get into lotro.. Mines of moria really made it into the right game for me.. I wasn't a big fan pre-MoM the 45+ Li's and mom make it a blast. |

My issue with VG (which i loved) is i don't see any endgame except hardcore.. and it's a sinking ship while lotro is an actively produced games with years of potential. That being said.. i feel like lotro is my "holdover" till I find something else, yet how much i look, there really is "nothing else" that works for me. Keep in mind, this is just my opinion.. |

Starwars galaxies seems like it could be fun too! I tried that and enjoyed being a tie-fighter dude. |

I may try SWG but I won't touch lotro, sorry. :P WURM Online is nice too, takes a while to learn though, also the population is.. well.. pretty bad, or subbing to VG.. all the good games have low population :( |

Here's my master list of mmo's i don't mind... Lotro, Ryzom, DDO, EQII, Vanguard, FE is open world w/ good crafting but not challanging at all..
Now why i wanna give SWG i want a game with foward potential.. i think it will be dead early next year after SW:TOR comes out, and if it wasn't coming out, it would be dead by it's own hand..
But with server mergers, nows the time to try it.

"At the moment I am enjoying everquest 2 very much, but what I don't like in EQ2;
Yep, SOE launcher really sucks. Just make a shortcut for the game's .exe file to the desktop and use it, no need for launcher other then updates. You can buy it with PayPal, but not from Sony. You can use PayPal option with Steam and D2D, it is the same game. Oh and for the quests.. Yeah, there are lots and lots of "collect x, kill y" quests, but i see EQ2 as the only game with "surprise quests". For example, in Thunder Steppes, i accidentally get close to a npc hut and.. i was kidnapped! Suddenly another zone started to load and my next mission was getting out of there. This was a nice and fun quest, you can't see quests like this on other games that much. Oh and for the low level group/dungeon problem.. I am on Crushbone server, and if you are not in a guild, you are in trouble for low level dungeons, it is really hard to find a group. But for the end game, it rocks. |

Originally posted by Necropsie The game feels so empty, using "who" I find only me in my zone. And only 7players 1-20lv online in overal.. Also, D2D sells only american EQ2. I think I'll wait few weeks until I have new debit card that I can use all over the web. And I think I prefer VG over Eq2 anyways. |

Just a little warning, vanguard end game is GRIND. If you don't play hardcore you'll go crazy, guess they need to keep people subing without giving any content? |

I'm on a WoW-bored-fest again, so I've been trying to decide which game to go back to. Funniest thing is, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. All of the ones that have been mentioned I have tried, some I've loved, but the ones I've loved the most (Vanguard is high on that list) really don't have very good populations anymore. Vanguard's population has always been fairly low due to the horrible launch and the purchase by SOE (who could care less that the game could be great -- they now have a dev team of like under 10 people). I have to admit, at the moment the games I'm considering going back to are: LotRO (I've never gotten to the end, though I like the game, Im a terrible alt-aholic). *Thinks* That's really all I can come up with at the moment. I really can't figure out what to do. :P It's a shame you're so adverse to LotRO. Vanguard is gorgeous, its a blast, an absolute blast. Seradon has a decent population, but my main problem is going into a large city and seeing ... NO ONE ... Now I can understand that its doing poorly, I get it, I do. But it hurts to see a gorgeous world just... vacant. If I were you, I'd probably stick with EQ2 since you're against going back to LotRO (I'd also go with Antonia Bayle -- population is very good there). I personally love EQ2, but I've never gotten a very high level character in it because a) I'm an alt-aholic and b) because I just can't find a class suited for me. The only problem, aside from that with EQ2 is that a lot of the game is poorly optimized. If you do plan on sticking with it, just avoid Nektulos Forest all-together. |
