The title implies exactly what this thread is for. Before I start on this, I would like to say a couple things.

I ASSURE YOU, I'M NOT WORKING FOR A  POPULAR  COMPANY OR SOME STUPID CRAP LIKE THAT.I DO NOT HAVE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS, THATS STUPID.

Since the last thread, I read all the things that said how my thread was considered a troll, and now i'm attempting at improving it.

*NOTE*- This is all from the view of someone who didn't play for long (until level 3)

1.) Download: The download is HUGE for mmo's and, from what i've read from other people and from my experiences. Many people have problems with the download speeds, and the download usually takes longer than most other games.

My personal issue with this: I normally download MMO installers/MMO's at 1-2 MBS, for this one, I was DLing at 45 KBS. The size of the game is 4.8 G, leaving me with a download time as roughly 31 hours, and then having to patch and install.

2.) Cost: The client its self cost $50, and then there is a monthly fee.

My personal issue with this (Opinion): The monthly fee is completely fine, my issue is having to pay a fee for the download it's self.

3.) Community: Active GM's and a bunch of people in the channels.

My personal issue with this: While there are many people in this community, and sometimes they are helpful, my personal experience with this is completely unhelpful and in fact, was a huge factor in why I stopped playing so early.

4.) Originality: The only original things that i saw were the different armors and weapons, and the whole concept that you are a clone. The mount's are somewhat original too.

My Personal Issue (Opinion): The entire time I went through this game, I felt like there was nothing that jumped out at me as original.

Skill System: Leveling and getting skill points for increasing some skills feels like a dumbed down anarchy online skill system with a reference to fall out 3 once again (AP is used for your actions in fall out 3, in fallen earth it's used for increasing skills once you level.)

Crafting: nothing really amazing, as far as i'm concerned, Eve still holds the title for crafting.

Combat: Feels like virtually any FPS

Environment: Everything about the environment looks and feels like a little less polished fall out 3 to me.

Fall out 3:

Fallen Earth:

5.) Crafting (again): A lot of things to craft

My personal issue with this: Regardless of if you want to craft or not, it feels like your forced to. It is technically possible to not craft anything, but if you do that your going to have to know how to make a lot of chips because it will get rather expensive.

It seems like this is one of those games that is a hit or miss for most people.

Beware!

You might end up having most fun you ever had in a video game.

Scary thing I know.

I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.

So other than your opinion (at least you admitted to only getting to level 3) of the game, which everyone has the right to have, what should the buyer beware of?

I read to this and realized your post has ZERO credibility.

You have to actually play the game to know what it's about.

Oh yea, and trying to compare a singleplayer games graphics to an MMORPG (where there are a lot of people in one place) is plain stupid.

I'd also like to note Icarus used their own engine to create the game, everything they textured, modeled, their own physics etc. THEY created every bit of it.

i agree, buyer beware implies there is something wrong with the company itself like they're out to steal your money or something? all you posted was opinions of the game.

Beware of the OP's opinion! It's completely unfounded, as he has only played 1 single level in an MMO.

As much praise Eve  Onlines gets for its crafting.

I am still going to say the best crafting system for me was Star Wars Galaxies (Pre-Cu).

I actually liked EQII's crafting. I havn't seen many other mmo that your character can actually get hurt doing it! Funny stuff.

You know, this guy laid out his opinion trying to respectful. And I appreciate that, but...

Come on! Level 3?! Seriously! That means you played the game for an hour.... and then come on to these Forums (which are already flooded with negativity toward company's hard work) and give us more negative viewpoints on a viewpoint that isn't even HALF baked, not even a QUARTER baked.

And yeah, don't post a screenshot of a singleplayer game compared to an MMO, they're not the same breed! Incapable of the same graphics, especially from a company of Icarus' scale to a company of Bethesda's scale!

Post a screenshot of World of Warcraft's turdfest graphics compared to Fallen Earth's, at least.

Just....... play a damn game, or don't say anything at all.

You have 5 posts, and your account is only a few days old. You must be able to see why people are skeptical.

Since the last thread, I read all the things that said how my thread was considered a troll, and now i'm attempting at improving it.

*NOTE*- This is all from the view of someone who didn't play for long (until level 3)

This alone pretty much crushes any point that you might have attempted to make. While true that a game does need to engage you early in to hook a customer base, level three can be achieved VERY quickly, and in that time frame, there is little you would have been able to do.

1.) Download: The download is HUGE for mmo's and, from what i've read from other people and from my experiences. Many people have problems with the download speeds, and the download usually takes longer than most other games.

My Fallen Earth folder is sitting at around 5.3gigs. Pretty small for an MMO actually. Smaller than most. Download speed is fine if you torrent it, but yes, the speed from their server sucks. This seems normal though, and I do my best to always torrent my clients.

I was under the impression that you could buy the digital download from their site for only 35 dollars... I might be misinformed, but that is what I saw not so long ago. The boxed version costs 50 though.

My personal issue with this (Opinion): The monthly fee is completely fine, my issue is having to pay a fee for the download it's self.

This is standard practice, and since you get a free month to play the game, that offsets the cost a bit. Companies need to have at least that beginning investment for the client, as it is VERY expensive to make an MMO.

3.) Community: Active GM's and a bunch of people in the channels.

My personal issue with this: While there are many people in this community, and sometimes they are helpful, my personal experience with this is completely unhelpful and in fact, was a huge factor in why I stopped playing so early.

This is true in any game, and just on the internet in general. Having active GM's hardly counts as a negative in my opinion...

4.) Originality: The only original things that i saw were the different armors and weapons, and the whole concept that you are a clone. The mount's are somewhat original too.

My Personal Issue (Opinion): The entire time I went through this game, I felt like there was nothing that jumped out at me as original.

The reason why you did not see much original stuff, is that you only made it to level 3. I would be willing to bet that you didn't even see/use half of what is available to you, and the things you DID use, were more than likely not used properly due to lack of experience.

Skill System: Leveling and getting skill points for increasing some skills feels like a dumbed down anarchy online skill system with a reference to fall out 3 once again (AP is used for your actions in fall out 3, in fallen earth it's used for increasing skills once you level.)

I don't think that there is any connection between the AP of Fallout 3 and Fallen Earth. Action Points vs Attribute Points (if I remember correctly). Just because it is not as indepth as Anarchy Online does not mean that it is not a breath of fresh air compared to many games out there that allow you nothing of the sort.

Crafting: nothing really amazing, as far as i'm concerned, Eve still holds the title for crafting.

Once again, you were level three. And, for all intensive purposes, EVE and Fallen Earth have almost identical crafting. You need mats to make an item, and then you make it in real time. The differences is that Fallen Earth does not need blueprints, and you do not need to find a place to produce the items. SWG blows EVE crafting out of the water, as does EQ2 and Vanguard. (granted, by my own opinion.)

Combat: Feels like virtually any FPS

I would be very curious as to which FPS games you have been playing, because I don't think the game plays anything like an FPS. The elements of the typical FPS are sorely lacking in this game.

You are in no way forced to craft. You can very easily go through the game without ever crafting anything, just like any other MMO. Crafting is very useful for extra EXP per hour though. Also, please name the MMO that doesn't require you to get tons of money to buy things if you dont craft things yourself? If you cant make it yourself, then you need to buy it, plain and simple. Just like every other MMO.

It seems like this is one of those games that is a hit or miss for most people.

This is the only point that I will completely agree on. But then again, this applies to every game ever made. Even the oh-so-popular WoW.

To all the people who said i had 0 credibility because I hadn't played for more than 1 level:
Please notice, the things that I mentioned doesn't require more than 10 minutes in game. I didn't comment on most gameplay because, lets face it, you can't get a feel for game play in that short of time.

To the people who commented on the screen shots i posted:

The point that i was trying to prove in posting the 2 screen shots wasn't about the graphics, I could care less about the graphics. What i was trying to prove was that the environment in fallen earth looks painfully similar to the environment in fall out 3.

You commented about community, which lets face it, you barely even saw or interacted in. You commented about crafting, which, lets face it, you more than likely barely did other than the tutorial ones. You commented about the skill system... Which yeah... At max, you had what? 45 AP to spend? If that? Which would not have been enough to really even upgrade your gear, but that doesn't matter, because you would not have found anything in that short amount of time.

Just a general note about my original post, some of the things that I posted weren't intended to be negatives. (Example active GM's) Sorry, should have clarified that a little better.

 1) Yes, it is a large game, I got mine through STEAM though so the download was pretty snappy.

2) .... You're not paying for the download.... you're paying $50 FOR THE GAME. C'mon. There are few games that don't charge a box price. You also get the standard free 30 days with that. You're not just paying for the download though, you're paying for the client/activation key.

3) I found the community rather nice and helpful.

4) Yep, definitely. Icarus made this MMO with 5500 quests, a crap load of gear, quite a lot of landmass in roughly a year. You got them, it's all a Fallout 3 clone.....

No. Work started on FE before Fallout 3 was announced. Do I think the original Fallout and Fallout 2 inspire some things? Yeah, sure. But Fallout 3 had little to do with FE. They both just have pretty standard post-apoc landscapes.

And, please, stick to ONE thread degrading a game for many.... well, dumb reasons. Of course the community with think asking what the reloading hotkey is is dumb because it is... Oh yeah, here's your other thread:

I don't see how having many levels changes how you do your skills. I realize that once you max your secondary skills (dodge, melee, etc.) you have to raise your attribute skills to get a higher cap. Is there something that I'm not understanding, because in terms of skills, it seems like level 1-3 is the same as level 45,  just more AP.

Also, I didn't just go for leveling while i was playing, I spent roughly two days just trying to talk with people via the chat channels/figure things out and explore the different things you could do. So to assume that i barely interacted with anyone or barely did anything as far as crafting is, imo, incorrect. I realize there are more things to make and more people to interact with, but lets face it. If you make one item, you've made them all. (get items to make it, make item)

Couple of mistakes.

Most important.  If you really only got to level 3, there's no point for you to come to these forums and share your opinion, we won't care.

On a lesser note, if you joined these forums and created two threads before you had about 100 posts under your belt (or at least a few months reading the forums) you are again wasting our time, you look like a newly created troll account.

There's dues to be paid both in MMO's and on forums to garner even limited respect for what you write.

Well the problem with people downloading the game is the free trial, just imagine over 2000 people trying to download the same thing at the same time. Of course your going to get slow speeds unless it was P2P style download client. If your going to buy the game online from D2D I bet you the download would be a lot faster.

Why do you have a problem with the download itself? You have to buy the game client somehow i pay for games I download all the time from D2D.  You are paying for the game itself not paying to download the game.

3.) Community: Active GM's and a bunch of people in the channels.

My personal issue with this: While there are many people in this community, and sometimes they are helpful, my personal experience with this is completely unhelpful and in fact, was a huge factor in why I stopped playing so early.

Sorry you didn't have a good experience with the community. They have been very helpful to me and really I haven't really seen one asshat in chat. Granted Im not in the help channel so maybe thats why.lol

4.) Originality: The only original things that i saw were the different armors and weapons, and the whole concept that you are a clone. The mount's are somewhat original too.

My Personal Issue (Opinion): The entire time I went through this game, I felt like there was nothing that jumped out at me as original.

Umm how about a MMO that is set in a PA environment? Yay a game that isn't space or fantasy.

Skill System: Leveling and getting skill points for increasing some skills feels like a dumbed down anarchy online skill system with a reference to fall out 3 once again (AP is used for your actions in fall out 3, in fallen earth it's used for increasing skills once you level.)

You can spend your AP points whenever in FE you don't need to level to make your character better. Yeah AO system was more complex but do you really need to have to spend points on swimming and junk like that?

Crafting: nothing really amazing, as far as i'm concerned, Eve still holds the title for crafting.

Never could get into EvE so IDK how it is but I liked Ryzoms crafting. I just like the idea of being able to craft 95% of the items in game.

Combat: Feels like virtually any FPS

Yes it does feel like a FPS but not many MMO's have that style of combat. That is one of the selling points for me.

Environment: Everything about the environment looks and feels like a little less polished fall out 3 to me.

Fall out 3:

Fallen Earth:

Fallen Earth was in development before Fallout 3 started, so seeing that MMO's take longer to develop and FE is so much more bigger Id say its doing pretty well.  Yes there are bugs but what MMO' starts of without any bugs. The graphics aren't as good but the world is open and huge so you have to sacrifice some eye candy so the game isn't instanced.  They could have pulled an AoC and instanced pretty much everything and made Fallout 3 look like shit but Im glad they went the route they did.

5.) Crafting (again): A lot of things to craft

My personal issue with this: Regardless of if you want to craft or not, it feels like your forced to. It is technically possible to not craft anything, but if you do that your going to have to know how to make a lot of chips because it will get rather expensive.

Crafting stuff will be cheaper than buying it, but it takes a while to gather mats let alone to craft something.  You either take the time to gather the mats or take the time to make money, thats just the way it is.  At least your not grinding the same fucking instance or BG to get gear.  You can get it to drop, make it yourself or buy it, more ways to get gear the better IMO.

It seems like this is one of those games that is a hit or miss for most people.

Yeah your right this game is hit or miss, so far its a major hit for me. But only playing to level 3 really doesn't say that much but hey, if you don't like a game you don't like it.   AoC lasted about 2 days on my computer before I got rid of it. Probably the worst investment in my life.

The point is that in 3 levels worth of AP, you wont see any fruits of your points. It makes so little impact, that you would have done just as good without it. Why? Because you would not have had anything to upgrade into, and would have all the same things available to you. You don't truely see the reason for the skills until you are locked out of wearing items, learning skills, or killing mobs.

Also, I didn't just go for leveling while i was playing, I spent roughly two days just trying to talk with people via the chat channels/figure things out and explore the different things you could do.

Unless you were complaining, I honestly HIGHLY doubt you spent two days trying to talk with people, and only made it to level three unless you thought this game was a chat room. Or, do you mean that you logged in for a small amount of time on two separate days? Two VERY different things :P

So to assume that i barely interacted with anyone or barely did anything as far as crafting is, imo, incorrect. I realize there are more things to make and more people to interact with, but lets face it. If you make one item, you've made them all. (get items to make it, make item)

Same can be said for any game, ever. If you have made one item, you have made them all. So, your point is still moot. To say the crafting here sucks is to say all crafting sucks, which therefore makes it average, yes?

Oh, and I forgot to mention... If you did so much crafting, then you had to do plenty of gathering. A couple of hours (and maybe even less) of gathering and crafting would have gotten you to level 3 easily, as they both give you exp. So, you either did no quests, and killed no mobs, and JUST crafted/gathered, or the other way around. Either way, you spent a minimal amount of time doing either.

I still dont get where the Buyer Beware term comes into play here....

You posted your personal opinions which of course you are free to do, despite the fact you made multiple threads on this, but you still show nothing about buyer beware which would constitute that the company is somehow involved in fraudulent practices.

As for your original post, I have a few things to say that refutes your argument;

1. This download is not huge, it took me roughly 4 hours to download and patch the entire game. Fallen Earths complete file size is only 5.21 gigs. Aion is 11 gigs and AoC is over 10 gigs, so try to compare games with actual proof before you say its huge by mmo standards when clearly it is less.

2. The free trial was just that, free. If you chose to pay $50 to try the game blindly, then that is your own issue. The keys to this game were very very easy to get and did not run out till 2 or 3 days after they were offered, so if you chose not to wait for a free trial and pay the $50, then again that was your personal choice.

3. The community here was fine and I got all my newbie questions answered even though sometimes I had to ask my questions a couple times, but this was less about the community and more to do with the fact of so many new people in the trial that chat was flying by at a mile a minute and those helping could only see and respond to so many questions.

4. You contradict yourself by saying the weapons, armor, mounts and the fact you are a clone are all original, then say nothing original popped out at you...which one is it? Lets not forget that this game is the only one that currently uses the post apoc setting in an mmo. The skill system is a little basic, but from dev chats it seems they will be addressing it in the future.

5. Crafting was very similar to EvE's just with maybe not as many items to make. You gather materials, start up your queue and then wait and go do other things while your crafting is being worked on, it even goes while you are logged off. My biggest gripe with the crafting was that everyone could do it, making it so you could nearly be 100% self sufficient causing the in game economy to become dead.

6. The scenery is fine, theres only so many ways a destroyed building and cars can look. Lets not get into the WOW WAS THE FIRST MMO thing here with thinking that Fallout 3 was the first to do the post apoc world setting in a game or movie.

Again you have nothing here but your personal opinions with no real facts to back them up. You got to level 3 which takes a whole whopping 2-3 hours to get and you come on here and do multiple posts about how no one should play this game. If you didnt enjoy it then move on, you wasted 2-3 hours of a night that you wouldnt of been doing anything better with your time anyways.

I got one of the trial keys on this site and I have to mostly agree with the OP:

1) It took forever to download and patch, I was getting no more than 100kb/sec.

2) I don't like the combat. Not because it's FPS, but because my shots "glance" when I'm 10 feet away and aiming at the chest.

3) Crafting is boring. Select the ingredients and wait for it to finish.

4) The environment looks bland.

5) I love how I can use my 360 controller with this game.

With the exception of my first problem with the game, the rest are really just my opinions. Obviously people like the things I have a problem with. That's perfectly fine. What isn't fine is that the OP is actually trying to make a decent post and you guys just keep attacking him. Guess what I made it to level 2, ran around for a bit, killed the awesome-looking chicken things, found some mobs that looked JUST like me, mowed them down easily, and logged out because I wasn't hooked. Honestly I'm not a fan of level based games because my friends always out level me. I would much rather a game where I can still be useful even if I can't keep the pace.

It's still on my desktop and I still have a few days left, so I'll probably give it a shot once I finish my lab reports and finish designing a lesson on the geography of mexico for a high school geography class (I hate middle of the semester crunch time).
