Give me crafting or give me death. I want to gather materials, I want to sell them in an easy quick method and have a mailbox that works 99.9% of the time. P.S. as part of the gathering, I want to BLOW S**T UP!!! |

We already know that STO is going to be very heavy on the combat. Mailbox? Did you want to be able to send and receive items/goods related to crafting through the mail? No promises on that account I'm sorry to say. CoX has a mail system but you cannot send items and up until recently it was only used by gold sellers to send spam to people (that was recently fixed but only after Cryptic was no longer involved with the game). I don't know if CO has a mail system or not. Cryptic has said that STO will have ways to trade things with other players. What all can be traded and how it will take place are still totally unknown. Almost nothing is known about the enonomy of the game or how it will work. As for crafting itself, Cryptic has a fairly poor record in this area. Their games don't even usually have "items" per say... In CoX youi crafted "enhancements" for your character and CO has a similar system. From the sound of things, STO will probably use some similar design. You may be able to "craft" some "enhancements" for your ship but overall I wouldn't really expect a lot in this reguard. Overall, what you are asking for is a tall order. I would set your sights a bit lower or expect Cryptic to dissapoint you. On a side note, if you are big on crafting you should probably check out Fallen Earth. Crafting is pretty much mandatory in that game. Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may. ~Mark Twain |

You'll mostly get all of that but to me "crafting" comes off as another thing to include for people to ultimately complain about. Not to say I don't enjoy crafting in most of the games I've played just that crafting in STO would be one of the farthest things from my mind. I never want to see less features though so good luck with the crafting. |

I read somewhere that as part as the "gathering materials" there will be combat involved because each faction has to control the area, resource, etc to gather it. I will have to dig it up. If I find it I will post it. |

One of the devs compared leveling/customizing your NPC bridge officers to crafting, so it's a safe bet crafting in this game will be a joke of an afterthought, much like most of the non PEWPEW elements of this game are sounding like. |

I thought I read somewhere that the only "Death" penalty would be collected items and Bridge station upgrades. So making those Bridge station upgrades will be the other form of "crafting"...(in addition to training up Bridge officers) www.9thfleet.com |
