Fallen Earth  » Why do I like this game?

I can't explain it. I think the combat is lackluster (once the mobs stop rubberbanding behind my melee attacks, this will improve), I hate crafting, and the repetitive loads of identical bushes popping up on my screen as I move bothers me, even at max draw distance.

Is it the fact that I am in a world where I can pretty much go wherever I want from the get-go? The fact I feel not the slightest bit of need to rush to max level? Maybe that the first time I saw a player roll up in a post-apocalyptic sports car, I laughed my ass off? Or that I got killed by the second mob I fought in North Burb (which was equally as funny)?

There is something about this game that intrigues me and I can't quite put my finger on it.  I think it may be community. It's helpful, funny at times, and really loves this game.

Two weeks into Aion, I retired my 31 Glad because I was feeling way too pressured to keep the pace. The first day I took off to just take a break, but I haven't gone back since due to the fact I liked not playing it more than playing it.

Two hours into my WAR 10-day trial/resub, my 34 Shadow Warrior felt weak and slow. What did I ever see in this game? I loved it until every one of my friends went back to WoW/their respective MMOs a month or two in. Now, it just feels clunky and ugly. Shouldn't it feel better after this time has elapsed?

Then I bit the bullet and just bought FE after seeing the rabid fans on this site defend it. I wasn't too impressed with the beta, but I love supporting small business, and people who bring something new to the table.

I guess in the end, the point of my rant is that FE gives me what I am looking for at the moment, and nothing else does. I see myself sticking with this game until someone trumps it. At this rate, it's gonna be a while.

Also, for the old SWGers out there, if the game doesn't already have striking similarities, Tiggs is a GM in FE. Nothing I really give two shits about, but I know it could be considered another "pro" to this game, if you're on the fence about it.

Sorry for my text-wall, just felt like giving FE another stamp of approval.

MMOs require more reasoning and imagination than most stereotypically ''adult'' activities.

Good post Irish.  To me Fallen Earth is a ray of sunshine that just cut through the clouds out of no where.  I didn't see it coming.  Probably because I've stopped keeping track of what new MMORPG's were incoming after being disappointed time and time again over the last couple years.  Yeah, it's got it issues.  Serious issues.  Issues that the devs had better address quickly to keep their devoted playerbase happy.  But FE's dev team really seems to care about their players and it shows.   That is what has been missing lately...devs whom I respect and admire because they respect me enough to communicate, have a sense of humor, and feel a passion for their game that's right up there with the passion the players feel for it.

I really love the game.

But right now, Age of Conan works better on my PC than Fallen Earth does. The lag in FE is killing me, logged in, couldn't get around in town so I just logged out again and have cancelled my subscription. I hope that they fix the lag sometime down the line.

But, AoC it is for now.

You love the game, but you cancel your sub because of lag. OK. I've learned two things from you. One, you didn't do your research, if you did, you would have known of a partial amount of individuals who experience lag, even though they're on a PC that can handle the most resource heavy of games. 2nd, your post is very vague. Did you try to adjust settings? Update your drivers? maybe it's your connection? You do know the game was just released, correct?

A> I wasn't searching for technical support regarding my lag issue.

2> I am not complaining about the game in any fashion.

D> I don't care if anyone else experiences lag or not. I am, so thats that.

@> Noooooooo, the game just released? R U SEEEEWIOUS?

And lastly, I'll play the game again some day. But for now, being unable to move around in any and all town centers, is disabling to my gaming enjoyment.

You love the game, so did you try to troubleshoot your issue at all? For example, if you have an Nvidia card, did you set the "Maximum pre-rendered frames" to '1' in the Nvidia control panel? That is a necessity (not sure why they don't make that more clear - it was only officially mentioned once in some patch notes). That fixed the town graphics lag for me. There's no reason to miss out on a great game you like if the issues you're having are easily fixable.

My PC is now 4 years old and i can say the performance i got in game was second to none, better frames than i have got from any game, and i had settings decently high.I run Vista 64,so your not going to get a bigger resource hog and i only have 2.6 ghz chip so not a 2.1 but not a 3+ either.

I would say unless something happened since i quit, then the problems would be on the individual machines and should be taken care of because it means something is wrong with your machine. If the OP really likes the game,he should just ask many questions to get the problem fixed, because it is most certainly fixable,it is not something you need to give up on.Heck when i joined FFXI i had tons of issues, but i liked the game so much ,i spent hours online researching my problems, never give up :D

Now hoping to get a complete container of Pringles with no broken chips,i give up on that :D.

I was trying to explain to a friend of mine who got one of the keys recently.  Basically it was hard to say why I like this game so much.  Where to begin explaining things?

After thinking on this a bit I guess it could be

1) The idea I can look in any direction and travel there...even with eventual 'borders' there is lots of travel if you like to adventure.  Some areas are devoid of life, and I kind of like that.  It might just be me, but it sure seems they are slowly getting more mobs out in the wilderness, maybe slowly adding them in to see how it effects the server I don't know, but it sure seems like I see more in out of the way places.

2) The idea I can level up slow without that feeling of having to rush to get there fast.  If I feel like doing dancing emotes all my play time a couple nights a week at the Embry Satellite with Apoc Radio I can without feeling like i've lost any time.  I get this feeling of I don't need to rush, I can do anything I want and still enjoy the game world.  I feel I can take my own sweet time and enjoy the journey.

3) I think this is the biggie.  I trust the Devs, GM's and support more then I have in a long long time.  I trust them to fix things quickly, which they've already shown a huge potential for.  And I trust them to add things that will make it even more fun and engrossing without making you feel you need to get to 'end game' by the end of the week.  IE Lee Hammocks latest interview.

4) It's a whole new world never really been explored.  A whole new IP with a general post apoc theme.  It's something new.  It makes me feel like I'm part of a world rather then another character in a game.

5) Crafting, it's deeper then it initially appears and great fun to boot.  It's not 100% what I had in mind but it's pretty darn close.  Enough to make me want to make things, even if it is mostly for myself.  I've sold the occasional item on the AH, though.  I think there is more of an opportunity there then some realize.  I also think it will get better as more levels and sectors are added.

6) There seems to be room for more fun things to be added without changing the core game play.

Wall of text, but I suppose these are a but a few of the things.
