Thing is... All those old school straight out grinders (the MUDs, for example), had exciting loot tables that made you look forward to getting your next kill. It may just be my bad luck, but from what I've seen, Aion doesn't. So as long as you don't run dungeons, you only have that tiny bit of progress in the XP bar that keeps you going. So I imagine people mean plain "boring" when they use the term grind about this game, instead of "takes Lineage II long".

"Level 50 possible in 2 weeks... so why the crying?"
I think that instead of crying, people are leaving.
There may be some people crying over wasted time and money I suppose. |

People are leaving this WOW clone with wings already? LOL. Sorry no sympathy for anyone who bought this. Buying these WOW clones is ruining the MMO industry. The developers think that this type of themepark shite is what we are looking for. Shitty clicky combat? Yep this game has it. kill x of this quest? Yes this game has tons of em. OMG WHY DO PEOPLE BUY THIS SHITE???? |

ATTENTION!
Once the people that praise this game understands that for a game to be acceptable, that it levels slowly, there has to be some proper gameplay to sink your teeth into for the grind not to become apparent. Also... The gameplay has to be fun and immersive, Aion doesn't offer much of this.
I have been waiting for Aion for a long time, I was a premature fan of this game, I wanted to like it really really bad, I really did. But it's frankly almost no better then most free to play asian MMOG's out there. But oh, what about the graphics in difference to all those other games, you might say. Well, graphics doesn't mean crapdoodle if the gameplay and immersive factor is low, or no good.
I'm not trying to hang out anyone here but... madeux said: "Just makes no sense to me... If max level is 50, I think it should take months to get there. Too many people have forgotten how to enjoy the journey."
Aion just doesn't have a journey to enjoy, it's way too shallow. Opinions, opinions, I know I know... It just annoys me when people says things like this, simple as...
I know if I was to go through Aion's gameplay for several months without reaching end level the way it is now, my eyes would be bleeding, less then halfway there. Oh and, I'd probably get suicidal too! =o You know, just to really get out this grand image of myself out there, since I've lost all credibility already =) Those that agree with me, ya, I'll give you a little pat on the back. Those that don't... You know, I've got this long finger on both my hands that I enjoy showing people that gives me the evil eye =)
The people and the friends that we have lost, and the dreams that have faded, never forget them~ |

I'd be more interested to find out what sort of painkillers those two who reached lvl 50 were on. After a few days and reaching lvl15 with two chars I just could not bear the thought of logging in. It's a borefest. Sorry. No go. |

The most efficient way to level, as we are seeing, is to bot. You could spot the bots by their names when the game was released. (asdsdaf and iueijfd) Now that people have gotten to the higher levels you see bots all over the place, played by regular players. It's overwhelming, but the game really pushes players toward that solution and I see the same bots day after day so nobody is being banned.
I'd rather watch my toaster make toast.
