Original Poster, why do you support groups like the TAliban and Al Qaeda oppressing women? Dude, honestly that is not cool. |

I don't understand your point at all, or what that has do with the video. I just linked a good video, the comments have been nothing short of idiotic so far, so I'm going to stop commenting on this thread, hopefully someone will post something on-topic, god forbid. |

Guess I'll kick things off. There's no way Sharia will ever make its way into the United States. Not with the young people of the country seeing the attrocities of Islamic Radicals (9/11). Not many people know what the quran is and what it teaches and I think it's important that future generations know that it teaches that killing jews and christians is a good thing. But that they also know that the only humane and logical way for this to fix itself is for the islamic world to realize that these kind of teachings to young people are desctructive and that it's important to remove this from their holy book (or whatever it's called.) Thought I doubt this will happen anytime soon, if ever. And that's most unfortunate. It's also important that people realize that the Islamic world is centuries behind the developed nations of the world and that these people are still living in ancient times with primitive beliefs. Sharia is garbage. All religious fundamentalists are dangerous idiots. This guy really needs to get laid. Or take a laxative, not sure which.
I love it when yahoos get all fired up about someone else's religious bullshit and use their own religious bullshit as a justification. |

Fundamentalist Islam is certainly a huge threat to all of us. Best not to forget that Christians have commited their share of atrocities over the years (inquisition, crusades, etc). As I'm sure you all know, I'd like to have the entire human race wake up tomorrow and decide that organized religion is mass delusion and a mental illness ( I don't think we need religion to have faith, love, compassion, fulfillment, and salvation). This isn't going to happen, so we are going to have to learn how to share the planet with people of different faiths. To be fair, the western world has been treating the Islamic world like its bitch for 100 years. On average they are far behind the western nations in almost every arena.. and we have been using de facto geopolitical power to control their valuable resources for more than half a century. We say they are monsters, but think about this: If our positions were reversed, and WE were the ones scraping by while UAE or Saudi Arabia waged war on primarily CHRISTIAN nations from military bases that they had on AMERICAN soil.. how would you feel? What if you were essentially POWERLESS to make any real change? What if THEY had nukes and we didn't? And they threatened to bomb the shit out of us if we tried to DEVELOP nukes? How would you feel? If there were a checkpoint to get in and out of Washington D.C. manned by Islamic soldiers that had technology that you could never HOPE to match? How would you feel? I'm pretty sure you would be enraged and desperate. I know I would.
I absolutely believe that if the situation were reversed that we would resort to the same kind of tactics that we label "terrorism" now... because you fight with whatever you have available to you. Don't get me wrong, it would be just as evil and destructive and hopeless REGARDLESS of which side were doing it. I just tend to think that when you put a person's back against a wall, you get similar results no matter where your mitochondrial DNA comes from. Holy crap, didn't mean to rant like that.. just meant to intro this next clip. Rick Steves the travel writer went to Tehran (pretty ballsy) and he gave a talk to the commonwealth club when he came back. Here's the link I listened to this a while back.. one of the things that struck me was this: there are Alms boxes on every street corner in Tehran. I forget the percentage (maybe 10%) but Islam requires that you give a significant amount of all of your income to help the needy... And before you neocons start spewing your predictable bullshit I LOATHE fundamentalist extremists, and I think those that enforce sharia law should eat napalm. Open your mind and give this a listen. |

Religion at its core is good. Who would have ever thought something so personal and peaceful would be turned around and encouraged to promote violence against other people. Kinda defeats the purpose of being religious in the first place. What do we do when people use superstition to justify acts of violence against others? It's like the ultimate scapegoat. Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL! |

Does it matter if it also promotes peace? I don't care if it says peace and harmony, it promotes killing of jews and christians. There is no peace in killing. 2.191

Sigh. Link me to the site where you got them. I'm very curious where you got them. You realize the text is interpreted as you take it? Christians have killed and been killing in the name of god for centuries. Crusades I guess don't ring any bells. Honestly, I'm not sure why you're justifying your own religion then because the Bible has many passages that advocate the killing of non-believers. Hell, the Jews destroyed a whole city and it's people just because it was the "promised land". Seriously dude, learn a page from the good book, "he who hath cast the first stone...". You're not above being called a religion of violence as well. There are many non-fundamentalist Muslims than there are fundamentalists. It's sad that you think the world is populated by these radical factions because they are not. In fact many Muslims detest these organizations that destroy and give a bad image, publicly, to their belief systems. |
