They aren't traditional expansions more like an EvE massive free content update. The yare still technically expansions, but most game compaines call them free content updates becuase they don't charge for them.

no AV does patch in content but the patchs the call "expansions" really do have a ton of content in them and deserve to be called so. only one expansion so far and it added player houses/villages and a load of other things. you can argue that stuff was meant to be out at release but either way so far expansions really have been expansions.

If you guys really think that overall adjustments and the inclusion of stuff that was promised at launch is an expansion.... well, it's your call. Aventurine must be glad to see that there are still people fighting the good fight for them.

And, prediction time: all future patches will include a small-time addition, such as a few more weapons or a slightly new functionality to warrant the usage (and the defense) of the term "expansion" in lieu of "patch".

And why bringing up EVE, anyway? If it happens there, is it ok to happen here? This is the kind of circular logic that breeds wholesale stupidity in the world.

Let me put this bluntly: Can you compare the use of "Expansion" in gaming as a whole (new landmasses, objective, systems, features, classes, skills, etc) to the DFO "patches" ? It is a consolidated term, that brings to mind the features I described above. Including a thing or two, completely peripheral to the core gaming (or do you mean player stores and housing is central to DFO?) to be able to justify the usage of the term is spin-doctoring, following AV's tradition of spinning taller tales than they can deliver.

Nothing is wrong with discussion, that is why we are all here. But sometimes you need to learn how to agree to disagree. 

Your going to tell me post after post why this is just a patch update. If I entertain that and explain why I disagree over and over again, I'm not really having a very intellectually stimulating discussion. Just a frustrating and very dull one. Is that reason enough? I don't like going in circles.

Stop making assumptions it will get you nowhere ( in regards to accusing me of following AV's spinning tales or something). I've spun no tales of this game or any other, so chill.

Don't forget the OP asks about the cost of the expansion, not whether people on this site consider it one. Your more than welcome to make a thread on that if you want to.

 The argument was if DF additions can be called expansions - and in light of what other games have added as free updates, it clearly cannot be the case. The actual state of the game at launch is irrelevant - and if it wasn't, Darkfall would *not* score any points there, even compared to AoC's terrible launch.

Its the company that decide what they want to call it, not the fans or haters.

Some they call patches and some they call expansions.

AV calls this a exapnsion, thus making it a expansion.

Later there will be a patch to fix this expansion, and some will argue that is a "expansion".

And here i thought that whatever standards constitute an expansion and what a patch were pretty much the same for all companies and all games and that they were set based on something more than "....because they say so "

I mean if i said that the below picture was C-A-K-E (even if it indeed was an oddly shaped C-A-K-E ) would anyone just believe me without questioning or even doubting me and just take a bite.........or does this only work with AV?
